Last year the VCU Rams did the unthinkable and made the final 4.

My question is, what about them got them there?
IMO looking back they just had an all around solid team who just had the makings of succeeding in the tournament.

They had an unselfish team, with a good point guard, who shared and handled the ball well. They had great shooters, I remember they just lit up the 3 point line against Kansas with Burgess and Rozzell. Also, they had a really good player in Jamie Skeen who could do a lot offensively. Add in playing good defense and having an awesome coach in Shaka Smart… you have a cinderella.

Another question… if theres anyone this year to have VCU or George Mason type run… who is it, and why?

My 2 possibilities would be Long Beach State, or Belmont.
    What are your thoughts?

I have LBSU in the elite eight losing to Missouri and Belmont losing to KU in the sweet 16.

What makes Cinderella’s is an "unlikely run".  To me, although they were good as heck, Butler had 2 back to back Cinderella runs.

I have 2 brackets currently.  My first bracket (my gut feeling bracket) has two Cindy’s.  UNLV and West Virginia going to the Final Four.

My second bracket (my logical makes sense bracket)  my two Cindy’s are NC State and LBSU both going to the Sweet 16.

Team I would like to have as a Final Four Cindy but afraid to pick – Memphis

My longshot Cindy’s – Harvard and VCU.

I think Vandy could be this year’s VCU. If I remember correctly, VCU came out of a bracket where I questioned the top seeded team as well as the rest of the bracket. Now that Fab Melo is ineligible for the tournament it opens the East bracket up like the parting of the Red Sea. Anybody could come out on top. Vandy is led by two senoirs and a Junior. They have great 3 point shooting from Jenkins. They have a player even better than Skeen in Jeff Taylor, and they have a center who is 6’11, 260lbs. That’s NBA like! In my bracket, I have Vandy making it to the Final Four, losing to Kansas.

If your not going to call Vandy a cinderella (because they are a 5 seed) then Memphis is another a Cinderella team close to VCU. They are very athletic, and also come out of a bracket where I question the #1 seed. I just don’t that Memphis will be able to get past the terrific guard play of Missouri. They make it to the Elite Eight in my bracket before losing to Missouri

Really Surve, you trust that WVU team that lost 8 of their last 12 games including losses to St Johns and Pitt at home. They also have a freshman point guard, Jabarie Hinds, and only two reliable scorers and are a average defensive team. I dont see them getting past Ohio St in the round of 32.
