According to Brousard, the T-Wolves offered Beasley to the lakers for there better ’12 first round pick and the lakers turned them down because they didn’t want to pay the luxury tax.

I think that was a bad decision by the Lakers. Beasley is the exact type of player they need to make an actual push back to the finals (other then a good pg.)

Just posted the link to this story a few minutes before you, but it’s all good. One had to figure that after Beas’s big night in LA last night that the Lakers would make up their mind while the Wolves were in town. As a wolves fan, I’m happy this trade was declined. We can get more for Beasley than a cruddy first rounder. We need a SG more than another young player from the draft..

They could easily make the playoffs if they make a good trade here. makes no sense to trade for a draft pick its not like theyre awful. A few pieces and a year or two away from being a serious playoff team. If they trade Beasley and don’t get a two guard it would be two stupid for words.

seriously a i cant be the only who likes the idea!

a top 12 protected draft!!! in such a deep draft!!

beasley is not what the timberwolves need. i feel like beasley needs to go to a team with vets that’ll be up in his face. he’s not the guy you want around one of the youngest teams in league… smoking weed n all.

edit: some teams that need instant impact should jump all over this like "itsdwighthoard" said btw

If the Wolves are hell bent on trading Beasley and the best package they can get back is a first round pick, deal it to Boston. The Celtics right now are barely in the playoffs in the East, and even if they are a top 5 seed, its still a top 20 pick. If the pick is going to the Lakers, its going to be better because the Lakers match up better with whoever they play in the first round of the playoffs and will likely have a top 4 seed anyways.

They are probably leaving that pick for a possible trade for Howard. Thats the only explanation why the didnt to make this trade I supose.

It is money  " The Lakers dont want to pay the luxury tax" This is the same reason that they dumped Odom.

Try to trade him while he is hot if you can get a good offer.

Not to mention, Michael Beasley and Andrew Bynum seem like a pretty good duo after Kobe Bryant retires.

I dunno where you guys are getting this idea that Beasley is a bad teammate or has issues.  He smokes weed…SO WHAT????  A lot of guys in the NBA smoke weed.  Allen Iverson smoked weed and won an MVP award.  Josh Howard came out and openly admitted to smoking weed while playing in the NBA on the radio and nobody looked at him like a bad guy.

Beasley is one of the hardest workers on that whole Wolves team as evidenced by the condition he keeps his body in and his improved perimeter offense.

The ONLY reason the Lakers declined this trade is because they are in the luxury tax which would make Beasley 6 million dollar contract look more like 12 million.  So would you pay 12 million for Beasley this year?  I’d consider it.

beasley played for the heat and i know exactly what player he is. next thing you know he was smoking weed with chalmers, fact… as a smoker myself i can tell you weed doesn’t do any good to your game. look at where iverson is right now. (i love iverson btw). josh howard? a guy couldn’t play after he turned 31. ask michael jordan or kobe bryant, the ultimate winners, if they would smoke weed or if they would like a teammate smoking. beasley is not bad, but its not what i want around such a young team.

i believe they can get a lil more than a top 12 protected pick for him but this draft is so deep the timberwolves can pick out really good young talent for cheap that will develop with the team.

the only problem i have with beas leaving minny is that they wouldn’t have a legit go-to scorer… but for the teams future, i feel like this is the right move. my opinion!

I don’t have a link but Kobe does not might teammates who smoke weed because he went on a talk show after he won the championship with a few teammates one of them being Adam Morrison who was high as a kite on the show and Kobe even said it then started laughing.

And MJ played with Rodman…..plus I’ve heard he smoked.

Weed has no negative effects on your body or game alone.  Some might say well it’s smoke and you inhale it.  But Iverson played 40mpg during his career so it didn’t seem to bother his lungs that much.

morrison another character!… i know there can be cases where it doesn’t affect your game but yeah i stick to my opinion. like i said beasley would be great on a veteran team. with the laks, boston, even san antonio for a richard jefferson substitute.

while minny could pick up terrence ross, beal, lamb, etc etc for the future

The Timberwolves would also receive the right to pick number one overall the next time they get a top 6 pick. Welcome to the NBA!

What about that $8.5 Mil trade exception they have???  And it’s the freaking LAKERS…  They make too much money to be worried about paying luxury tax…  That’s beyond ridiculous…  The double luxury tax doesn’t take effect until 2 years from now…  Someone made a great statement in saying they saving it for a run at D12…  Which make more sense…  I would love Beas playing with Kobe though…

Pacers need to get on this.  If they plan on moving for Eric Gordon, they’ll end up moving Granger.  Beasley can back up the 3 and 4 for them with Gordon and George starting.

The fact that Beasley has gone from a big man to a perimeter player speaks about his work ethic, it’s not easy to completely change your game like that.

Beasley has better talent then a late first round pick but his stock isn’t as high because he still has the bad rap from the past. The Lakers are dumb for not making that deal especially since it’s been said Howard would weigh his options instead of signing a extension if traded to the Lakers

Beasley’s bad rep is BS.  Seriously, lets look at him.  He has experimented with weed and got in 1 altercation with a fan.  Outside of that, he was immature when he was a rookie and in college, he was 19 give him a break.  He works his ass off, seems like a great teammate, a fun guy to have, but is also a competitor.  I’d love 2 have this kid on my team.  Never have I heard any teammates complain about him.
