mikeyvthedonParticipantThe long and short of it: if New Orleans buys out Chris Kaman by the March 15 deadline (which appears to be a possibility), than the Heat have major interest. I am guessing that they would not be alone, but apparently trade options for the last year of Kaman’s deal do not seem to be going anywhere. Joel Przybilla was seen as an option for the Heat, but apparently still has injury issues.
If Kaman were bought out, he would have to waive his Bird rights, which would be a solid sign that he might make a lot less money in free agency. Nonetheless, Mike Bibby decided to do that last season for a chance to play on the Heat. The other issue would be teams going ape $hit over the NBA (who still own New Orleans) cutting a solid center and letting him sign with the Heat for the league min. Not thinking this will happen, but it is a rumor to keep an eye on, not only for the Heat but for other teams possibly interested in Kaman’s services.

gopack10Participant…that the rest of the teams in the NBA…cough…Mark Cuban & Dan Gilbert…cough…would go nuts if an NBA owned team allowed this to happen.
This are the types of things that I wish that they ironed out with this last CBA. A buyout should be similar to an amnesty in that teams should have to put in a claim for a player based on record instead of just allowing that player to sign with whomever he wants right off the bat. If a player like Kaman made it through the claim process then fine, let him sign wherever.
The Hornets need bigs with all of the inuries they have so I doubt this happens.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI still think Sammy Dalembert is actually exactly what the Heat need at C. He’s a defensive shot blocker who can still beat mostly every Center down the court and finish with his pogo stick legs.
And nobody else found the Derrick Williams for Pau Gasol trade interesting? That’s the first I heard of that but it seems legit. I know the Wolves want vets, especially Pau, just wasn’t sure how far they’d go to get them.

apb540ParticipantI hadn’t heard that rumor but the idea behind it is interesting. The T-Wolves have PG’s they could part with too.

mikeyvthedonParticipantJust my opinion. But, it seems like the Lakers would be giving up if they did that trade.
