Mr. BasketballParticipantTyson Chandler on Brandon Jennings:
“He needs to get bigger and stronger, but in terms of his skill set, he’d be a Top 10 point guard in the league right now,” Chandler said of Jennings last summer.

crispcountyParticipantcomparing jennings to telfair is a horrible comparison. telfair was always overrated. he doesn’t possess 1/2 the skills as jennings does.

QHaynes123I agree…he has a jumper and he could be one of the fastest PG when he walks in
I think Jennings could be like Mo Cheeks
He could be a 16pts,6ast,4reb kind of guy

ninja12ParticipantHe is a much better leaper than Telfair. He might be a tad quicker than Telfair too (this is tough to tell because he’s on the court with high-school players and he can run circles around them. Against NBA defenders, he won’t be able to do 90% of the moves he does here.) Physically, he looks like a Telfair clone. He looks like a decent, not spectacular shooter.
Overall, because of his superior leaping ability, I think he will be better than Telfair, but he won’t be a superstar because he lacks size and strength, and isn’t a great shooter to compensate.
But, then again, I’ve only watched 3 youtube videos of him so what do I know.

Mr. BasketballParticipantwatch euro vids of jennings.

sheltwon3ParticipantJennings is more athletic and taller than Telfair. They both have trouble shooting though and they both are quick and pretty decent playmakers. If Jennings gets bigger he should be alright on D.

sheltwon3ParticipantI have watched a lot of Youtube videos of Jennings and if he gains strength it could be kinda like Rose.

Tim49461ParticipantFrom the comments i have heard from all of you…u all have never watched jennings really play, u may have seen him on tv once or twice but i been seeing how much he has grown since his days with SCA…This kid will be top 10 the second he steps on the floor. AMAZING leaping and speed. IF you even compare him to telfair your the dumbest i know….Telfair 5’10 Jennings 6′ 2 ( Yup they are the same size) Telfair was stronger and but he was shorter and we all know short peeps can add bulk fast. Plus Telfair can’t shoot worth a dime…Jennings can knock down the shot and if you watch his mechanics they are good but KG/Michael Redd tiny bit of work and he is deadly.
There is one thing i think all of you will agree with….he is not be a top 10 PG if he is in the wrong system…He goes to Phx or NYK he is a Star in 3 years TOPS anywhere else he has to find his way out of the shadows.

michaelds911ParticipantChris Paul is pretty short the last time I checked, and that doesn’t stop him from being the best PG in the league does it? And his shot isn’t spectacular either, soooooo what are you trying to get at ninja? What makes good ball player is skills not athleticism, and Jennings has all the skills you could want in a PG except a consistent jumper. But im pretty sure he will develop that as he comes along.

Lodzio20ParticipantDon’t listen TONYDABOSS77 because he’s a Jennings fan…I see better PGs in 09 DRAFT

Csharp3410ParticipantJennings need to gain some weight and get bigger, he will get knock around once he gets into the paint. But he has all the talent.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/18/2009 - 6:03am #146397
ninja12ParticipantPaul has shown he can take contact and still finish or pass. Jennings, it would appear, does not have that type of strength yet. We’ll have to see once he gets into the league whether strength truly is a problem for him, Michaelds911.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/18/2009 - 6:39am #146398
michaelds911ParticipantYeah we will have to see. But you can’t knock him yet when he hasn’t even stepped on a NBA court, and I’m pretty sure he will add some muscle when he hits those pro weight rooms.

ninja12Participantmake Chandler an expert on Brandon Jennings? Has he even played pickup ball with him?
Anyways, Sebastian Telfair has put on weight and strength in the last offseason and worked on his outside shot, helping him become a better player. But, he is still only an adequate starter at best and should only start on a good team if it has a lot of talent at other positions.
Jennings is a better leaper than Telfair, so I do give him an edge going into the league. I’m not yet ready to give him an edge in any other category right now, which is to say I consider them about even in every area besides leaping (which is an important skill in the NBA as we all know). This is my inexpert opinion, not a knock. I could be wrong, I’ve been so before.

Mr. BasketballParticipantya he has played with him actually. they went to the same high school and jennings was the ball boy when chandler went there. they played pickup ball last summer according to chris broussard from ESPN and that is when he made the statement in this thread.

bluedevils12Participanti dont think jennings is a top point guard in the NBA if he gets drafted. I honestly jus dont see it right now. maybe after a year or two but right now no.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/18/2009 - 8:38pm #146503
Elite24ShoTimeParticipantBrandon Jennings = 170 / 6’1
Chris Paul = 175 / 6’0All Jennings need is like 5 more lbs. + a little bit more body mass. you all are making a big deal out of nothing. He is NBA ready now. if he goes to a team that actually needs a PG like the grizzles so they can take pressure of OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay then he will accel.
