Wavy BagelsParticipantHas been playing swell for the Suns so far. Had a statline of 16 pts 9 rbs and 2 asts averaging over 53% from the field in today’s victory against Golden State (Mind you, w/o David Lee due to illness). Unless something great comes up like a trade or lottery pick, Do you guys see him as a building block for this team down the line at the 4 position or should they continue looking?

HitsterParticipantThe Suns have decent frontcourt depth but no real star player, if Morris continues like this then he could perhaps be the best fit alongside Gortat long term. The bigger concerns are PG and SF longer term although Aaron Brooks could be resigned but he is no Steve Nash.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantI love Markieff Morris as a Pf/C prospect, he’d be a great 3rd big on any goog team IMO, Im not sure if he’s the answer as a Franchise Pf in Phoenix(He has huge shoes to fill left behind Amare)…In reality though they could be set at Pf and C(Morris-Gortat-Lopez-Frye-Warrick) of course if an upgrade comes along they have to take a look but right now they some decent depth at Pf and C…I they’re biggest needs will be Pg-Sg and Sf when Nash and Hill move on, Shannon Brown could stick around and Dudley and Childress are still young enough to stay as well…If I were the Suns I’d look to trade one of the Bigs and one of the Sg/Sf’s for an upside player and extra Draft Pick in 2012…

ilike.panochasParticipantI see him more as being a better rebounding Carl Landry. I think he is their PF for years to come, he and Gortat makes a good frontline. All they need to do now is add some good skilled players on the wing, and find a future replacement for Nash.

Mr. 19134ParticipantCarl Landy is really a one dimensional low block scorer he has know where near the skill set Kief got. Kief never got to show off his full skill set at Kansas but we are seeing it know. People were comparing him to a poor man’s Al Horford coming into the draft but now that he’s in the league he’s showing he some of that plus a deadly 3 point shooter. A better comparison would be more like a poor man’s Rasheed Wallace. Kief can really shoot the ball from the outside plus he’s smart and fundamentally sound and will always be in position for rebounds and play tough defense. You can definitely win is Kief is your starting PF>

JoeWolf1Keef is a great fit in Pheonix with his range and pick and pop ability paired with the fact he’s not afraid of contact down low. I don’t think he’s probably considered a focal point of rebuilding for Pheonix, but cetainly a guy who they want as a part of their team going forward.
I think he’s a better fit than Channing Frye, because he can still hit the 3 and stretch the floor, but he’s tougher and a better rebounder, despite being smaller.
So, no I don’t think he’s a franchise type player, but I’d be shocked if they draft another 4 this year or next. They made a really good pick at #13 and I think as the season progresses, Keef will solidify his spot on the team and when looking to add more pieces they will be able to count on Morris at the 4 going forward and focus on other positions.
