With the new amnesty clause of the CBA, there are rumors about who could possibly get waived via amnesty and who would be interested.  I figured it would be interesting to see who you guys think will be amnestied and 1) where they would best fit and 2) where you think they’ll end up.

You can name any players that you think will be amnestied but here is a general list of players that there are rumors about being waived:

    1. Brandon Roy

    2. Baron Davis

    3. Rashard Lewis

    4. Travis Outlaw

    5. Gilbert Arenas

    6. Richard Jefferson

    7. Elton Brand

    8. Mike Miller

    9. Brendan Haywood

    10. Richard Hamilton

     1. Brandon Roy – Pacers. They are in need of a 2-guard and might as well take a shot at Roy.

    2. Baron Davis – Kings. Evans at PG experiment is pretty much a fail, so they should bring a veteran face for a little while.

    3. Rashard Lewis – GSW . They are thin at that position, and Lewis shooting will fit right in their offense

    4. Travis Outlaw – Clippers. Athletic, long, and a good role player. Reminds me of a more developed Al fariq Aminu 😐

    5. Gilbert Arenas – Nets . Wouldn’t be surprised if i see them share a backcourt with Deron williams.

    6. Richard Jefferson – Lakers …Ron Artest production is dipping fast. Defensively he is still a stud, but offensively is like a dead body

    7. Elton Brand – Rockets. Thin on the frontcourt they can sure use brand.

    8. Mike Miller – Grizzlies. Watching them last year during playoff time, they struggled to shoot the ball. Mike miller can help them out with that

    9. Brendan Haywood – Heat. They need a center!!!

@scarecrow: yeah, which means lakers will most likely not be getting a guy like Richard Jefferson.

What about Brandon Roy to the Clippers to play a Sam Cassell type role?  They have a really young team with no players that can score down the stretch.  I think bringing in Roy as a veteran presence at the very least, would be beneficial to the Clips…not to mention his possible upside.  I envision him as a combo guard for the Clips and the late game ball handler because of his playoff experience and b-ball IQ.  Could seem like a bad fit, but I think it works. any thoughts on this?

I wouldn’t be suprised if Roy retired… His knees situation is that bad.

He has a wife, two little boys… He’s made a ton. Had a good career. I could see him walking away and not putting his body through the punishment. He’ll be getting his knee drained plenty, taking inflamatories, etc, etc just to get through practice and play 15-20 mins a night… It’s not worth it.

You’re definitely spot on, Brandon Roy has had a phenomenal career and he is only 27!  It’s a shame that his knees are that bad that they could force him to retire at an age where most players (like himself) are still in the prime of their careers.  I still think he wants to remain a Trail Blazer, and if they waive him, my prediction is that he will retire due to the fact that he doesn’t want to play for any other team.

Look at his career averages through 5 years: 19 PPG, 5 APG, 4.5 RPG, 1 SPG, 46% FG, 35% 3PT, & 80% FT.  He also averaged 35 MPG his career.  This guy is an All-Star when he is healthy and still a good role-player when not.  It sucked to see him go, but if it’s to keep a guy healthy, then I’m the first one to wish him well.  I hope Portland gives him another chance…
