surveParticipantWe know about the Fab 5, and UK’s famed team led by Wall and Cousins…but what about teams that had powerhouse recruits lined up that never played together?
When I was growing up, it was Eddie Sutton’s Kentucky team…the one that got so many recruiting violations and ended up on probation.
Possible roster:
Shawn Kemp
Rex Chapman
Eric Manuel
Chris Mills
Leron Ellis
The scandal surrounding the assembling of this team almost got Kentucky the death penalty….true story
MikeyV….back me up 🙂

Johnny ChillWall and Cousins only played 1 year, they didnt win shit!!! Didnt even make it to the final four.
At least the Fab 5 made it to back to back championship games as freshman and sophomores.

surveParticipantI think you guys misunderstood…I meant that there was good talent that was assembled in college basketball, such as the Fab 5 and Wall’s UK team, not to imply that they were great. My intention was to get a list of teams that were potential powerhouses that NEVER got to play together. Wall had 4 other first rounders to play together….but the Kentucky team that I listed above had all those players enrolled but they ALL departed within a 2 year period before all 5 of them could even play together. Kemp didnt play at all and transferred. Ellis transferred to Syracuse, Mills transferred to Arizona, Manuel transferred to some community college and Chapman left for the NBA.
I was wondering why all the negs with no explanation. Again my intent was to say there have been some powerful teams assembled, like 2011’s UK and UNC’s teams…along with the afore mentioned Michigan and UK teams, but I was trying to get a list of some great talent that never got on the floor at the same time.

surveParticipantmaybe a more clearer title to the thread shouldve been "great college recruiting classes that NEVER played together"

aamir543ParticipantTo be honest, the tittle was clear enough, I just didn’t know of any, cause I’ve only been following college ball for a couple years. What about the team Tennesse had two years ago, before all those violations, they were a top 15 team.

surveParticipantits kind of a difficult question…because you cant consider the players since Garnett came out because now there are so many one-and-dones or two-and-dones…ex: like Durant, Boobie, Augustine, Aldridge, could have been on the same team if this were back in Kemp’s day.
When Kemp signed with UK, players werent jumping from HS to college, thats why I made the thread because all of those players were on the team at once…and all of them were NBA level/played in the NBA.
what would Tennessee’s team wouldve looked like?

surveParticipantRex Chapman was a top 5 recruit in 1986 and was the 8th overall NBA draft pick in 1988
Kemp was a top 3 recruit (along with Mourning and Kenny Williams) 17th overall pick 1989
Mills was a top 5-10 recruit same year as Kemp. 22nd overall pick in 1993
Manuel was a top 5 recruit in 87 (along with Larry Johnson) undrafted…mainly due to his ousting from UK, he transferred to Hiawassee then to Oklahoma City University
Ellis was a top 5 recruit in 87 as well and was the 22nd overall draft pick in 1991
