I don’t know what it is about the last few days but NBA players are deciding to terrorize all the summer leagues for some reason. Hill had 50 last night playing with Eric Gordon in the semifinals of the Indy Pro Am. Tomorrow in the finals their team will also feature Lance Stephenson, whose team was eliminated ( he didn’t show) last week. This is where it gets interesting.

People in Indianapolis are hopeful that this is a glimpse into the future because they seem to think there is a good chance Gordon will come home and join the Pacers next summer when he’s a free agent.

As far as that goes, I’m pretty divided.

Obviously him coming home would sell a lot of tickets and make him the face of the franchise, but the Clippers could be on the rise fast over the next few years. And obviously Gordon would play anywhere, but unless the Pacers move somebody he’d be looking at sharing the limelight with other perimeter players as opposed to a big man. And that doesn’t even factor in Lance Stephenson’s future development. The fact that Larry Bird called him their best player when he hardly played last year would suggest he’s in their future plans. What may work to their advantage in courting him is that the Pacers have a lot of money to spend as it stands right now.

I think L.A. is his best bet. But many questions will be answered in the next year. His health over the next season will play a major role in what kind of money he’s offered and how hard of a decision it turns out to be.

Where would you say is the better option?

Gordon and Griffin has to be clippers core moving forward and they’re great building blocks.

Hill is going to be really good for the Pacers this season. He can do more than what people think and he’ll be allowed to show it this upcoming season. He’ll be given more offensive freedom than he was given with the Spurs.

I know Bird is VERY high on Stephenson, but are you sure he said he was the Pacers’ ***BEST*** player? I find that hard to believe lol. I’m just interested to see if Stephenson can get in the rotation and what position he’ll actually play.

Gordon will be a free-agent next summer, but he’ll be a restricted free-agent. I know Sterling is cheap, but he’d be an absolute fool not to match any offer Gordon receives… Unless it’s just an offer that makes completely no sense. If Gordon isn’t resigned, Griffin won’t be too happy. Neither will the fans.

However, Gordon would definitely look towards the Midwest. He’s not really a LA guy. He’s more low key and would rather play close to home, so his family could come to his games.

IndianaBasketball yeah Larry Bird definitely said it http://www.rotoworld.com/player/NBA/1744/Lance-Stephenson . There was an article about it in the Indy Star in June. Actually another article in a forum post someone put up right before this one made reference to the fact. I feel the same way you do that it’s kind of crazy to say about a guy who played in a handful of games last season, but at the same time you can see where Bird gets it.

If we gathered their team up for a game and they just played outright i’d cast my vote for Lance Stephenson as the most talented player, but we know that’s hardly the only factor in NBA success. Stephenson hasn’t exactly been a good citizen off the court, and he never really got in shape. But he can make certain types of plays that nobody else on the Pacers can.

And if i’m not mistaken you know Gordon right? Do you think he’d like to move? People i’ve talked to that know him say the same thing you’re saying

Yea, I’ve been knowing him and his dad for quite awhile.

They’d all like for Gordon to play in the Midwest. I mean, that way they can attend his games, etc. His family used to go to like every game when he was little… I mean, everybody. His grandparents and everything. But obviously, he isn’t going to do anything that doesn’t make sense. He clearly wants to be in a winning situation, etc. Like I said above though… I highly doubt Sterling wouldn’t match any offer Gordon received.

Gordon won’t be moving until he’s an unrestricted free-agent, etc.
