Lotto StudParticipantFor starters lets scratch the Terrico White comparison! PG! PG! PG! PG! 6’5” 205 guy who is a lefty which is a plus-plus in my book. Finesse game is like no other to be doing it at his size as a PG, bounced back strong off an ACL injury & still maintained to blaze the 100-meter dash in 10.78 sec. which is to show he has not lost a step at all to run the break as a PG.
I do have one HUGE concern………….
This may sound really crazy, but I think if he adds a J to his game now, it will be a huge blow for him being a career PG. Some team will take him off the ball away from his strength, which is his passing due to his size to move him to the 2 permanetly. I’m not saying he shouldn’t work on it at all, but he is a player that will be misused & I see it coming ahead of time. I would go crazy if his NBA position turns out to be the 2 instead of 1.

Knicksboy3ParticipantHe still has the size to be a SG. Maybe he could be a Joe Johnson type dude if he develops the J.

MagikKnickParticipantHes a pure point, I understand what your saying coaches do it all the time, hopefully he goes into thr right situation where a team knows that they are indeed drafting a pure point guard…

B FreeParticipantYou’re right the Terrico comparison is only there because of there thick builds and ability to play both gaurd spots. Who do you think hes like? I have only seen clips and all star game play.

WizardofOzParticipantHe measured out a 6’6.5" recently, so he has very good size for a combo guard. But I think he’s a PG.
I read his DX scouting report, and they say he’s better suited for the 2 because he’s better at making passes on the move than running an offense, but from all the footage I’ve seen from him, his game screams PG to me. He’s a great passer and has great handles. He can’t really shoot and is very ball-dominant.
That sounds like a POINT GUARD to me.

Lotto StudParticipantJorrye says Lance Stephenson but I don’t know anymore
"He reminds me ALOT of Lance Stephenson, and even though he’s not quite as much of a knucklehead as Lance is/was, he has a chance to be more successful if he proves he can play off the ball, something Lance has stuggled with a little in the past. The talent is there, as he’s got solid size for a PG and alright plysical tools for a SG, he’s flashy and entertaining, has a decent off the bounce game, and he’s a passable athlete. He has to tighten up his shooting polish, and play smarter, but if he’s willing to improve he’ll be a very good player for years to come."

JNixonParticipantI still see him as a Lance Stephenson-type. And I don’t think he’s a pure PG either. I see him as a combo guard who needs the ball to be effective, although he ertainly is a good passer in the drive in dish. Arguably the best at that in the 2011 class. That doesn’t necessarily make him a true PG, because he doesn’t show muh in terms of facilitating an offense or reading a defense in the manner in which a pure point does. I think Washington would be MUCH better served to let Abdul Gaddy play PG, since the way he played PG last season is the prototypial way it should be played. Good decision-making, getting the ball in the hands of scorers, taking great care of the ball, and running sets smoothly. Wroten is alot like Stephenson in that he might struggle off the ball, but I think he’s a better passer than Stephenson was though. That’s the difference to me. So if he’s able to play off the ball and still get his drive and dish game going (which should be the case) you’re talking about a guy who could be a top 10 pick in 2012.

JNixonParticipantAbdul Gaddy was too young to be a one-and-done. He was the youngest player in the nation as a Fr., and he looked like it too. His Fr. year was pretty bad, it was hard to get any positives out of it. But he really got better last year and became a good pure PG, he had a 3:1 A:TO and he even made his open shots. But he tore that ACL right before the middle of the year, but hopefully he’s healthy so he can show improvements. People are writing him off now that Wroten Jr. is in the fold, which isn’t fair IMO.

But you guys get what I mean -_-
Like, him leaving as soon as he could….based on talent, and being considered a high pick…But yeah, it’d be interesting to see how that PG spot plays out in Washington, as far as being able to run the point, I think Gaddy should get the nod, but Wroten’ll probably get it based on hype

scoutguruParticipantDon’t follow much of these HS guys. But from what I’ve seen his game’s reminiscent of James Harden. With his build, ability to pass, score, and play both guard spots, and feel for the game. Its yet to be seen though how his in game instincts will translate to the college level though. Will he value possessions? Will he be poised and under control immediately upon stepping on campus like Harden was or will he be a risk taking freshman lookinig for the flashy play?

Cardinal_FanParticipantI just dont see Gaddy beating out Wroten for the PG, im from Louisville and a huge Cards fan & we were actually the favorite to land Wroten….but Pitino told him he wouldn’t be the full time PG. So id imagine Lorenzo Romar promised this guy the keys to the offense at U-Dub. Besides he is just more naturally talented then Gaddy imo.

iguapops420ParticipantReminds me somewhere between D-Wade and Iman Shumpert personally. definitely not a pure point. He’s more of a 2 who is best creating for himself and others beside of a shooter pg similar to how Wade,Roy, and Kobe have done througout their careers.

Lotto StudParticipantWade had came to mind to me also as far as a PG who happened to get switched to SG……now they are not simliar in the aspect of athleticism or scoring ability that’s where the 2 differ, but I like the Wade comparison if you are going that route.

iguapops420ParticipantNot really. Think of Wade early in his career. Not to mention with better desicion making and shot selection Shumpert is Wade. Think of the fact that Wade played point rookie year even though he’s a more natural 2 who likes the ball in his hands. Wroten’s game is closer to Shumpert but the Wade comparison stands, especially given that he could end up the star of the draft even though he’s nowhere near the hearalded player of some others. very similar to Wade.

And I’m sorry, i see Shumpert and Wade in very similar mold. You don’t, ok, move on. You obviously didn’t watch Shumpert nearly as much this season. Because his on games were quite similar. Now does he have the EXTREME first step or the elite ballhandling of Wade, no, but neither did Wade always. Perhaps saying he’s Wade is a bit far fetched, but again, you don’t see anything in the guy while I see Larry Hughes DPOY. And seriously, THE CAPS DON’T MAKE ME WANT TO AGREE WITH YOU ANYMORE THAN 2 MONTHS AGO ON THE SAME SUBJECT!

Hear that everybody? I have a "bias" against Iman Shumpert because I say he’s not similar to Dwyane Wade. I just hate Iman Shumpert, aka Dwyane Wade. I didn’t watch GT this past season, because I don’t think him and Dwyane Wade are similar. The same Shumpert who couldn’t get GT to the NIT, is now being compared to Dwyane Wade. But, I guess I’m biased though. About a man I don’t know. Yeah. Ok.

iguapops420ParticipantNo you’re you have a bias against Shumpert simply becuase you have never had one positive thing to say about the guy. He was promised to NY and you based it simply off of his athletic resuls. Negated his near quadruple double. And I CLEARLY said that the wade comparison was an over exageration. And no, I don’t believe you watched much GT this year because if you had, again, you would have witnessed piss poor coaching with piss poor spacing, along with late shots in the shot clock. I admitted I overexagerrated the comparison but I have said from day one Larry Hughes DPOY type level, where you have never even gave him s much credit as having Antonio Daniels level potential. He clearly isn’t Wade, doesn’t have the same explosiveness, first step, or build, even though combine tests would lead one to believe as such. Just stop responding to my Shumpert posts if you are so annoyed by them. I thought we agreed to stop having this argument on draft day. We’ll bring this argument up again in 2-4 years and perhaps I’m wrong, but I’m sure even if he’s putting up terrific numbers and winning, you’ll have some reason as to why he’s worthless.

JNixonParticipantYou might need to read my Countdown to the Draft, and see if I’ve not spoken on the positive things about his game. Just because I don’t think he’s anything like Dwyane Wade doesn’t mean I don’t have anything positive to say about him! You keep coming up with all these players he plays like, but Shumpert couldn’t win, he never was efficient, and he consistently was a bad decision-maker.
Yes, in fact, I have seen Shumpert play this season. I live around Georgia Tech, I go to college in-state, and I get all of GT’s games on local TV. I’ve probably seen Shumpert play more in the course of 3 years than anybody on this site actually. I’m not going to talk about a guy I haven’t seen play, I refuse to do that.
And no, I won’t make up excuses if Shumpert somehow turns all of his weaknesses into strengths and becomes a player. Just like I’ve admitted to being wrong about Jrue Holiday, and any other things I’ve been wrong about. I don’t make up excuses, this is a forum. I’m not a professional, I am a grown man, so I will be wrong from time to time just like everyone is.
You can’t whine and say I don’t like someone because you made a stupid comparison. That’s your fault. With decision-making, Iman Shumpert is not Dwyane Wade. That’s silly. Plain and simple. Just because I don’t agree with that silly opinion doesn’t mean I’m "biased." It just means your comparison is dumb.

Just because I don’t agree with that silly opinion doesn’t mean I’m "biased." It just means your comparison is dumb.

iguapops420Participantok. goign to bed now. got work in the a.m. goodnight brother. while i disagree with you, i can’t help but find myself loving seeing the passion for bball. And i still can’t agree with you that he was mearly the 40 whatever best prospect in a draft so shitty. IMO, top 25 was most reasonable based on potential and abilities. BTW, Wade was NEVER expected to become the player he is.

That’s probably the only thing they have in common too. Nobody expects Shumpert to be the player Wade is. Well, except you of course. :/

llperezgaddy is gonna run point. Gaddys skills should have never been called into question its just he was always taking an unselfish approach not forcing anything. I expect as a junior he will step his game up. That probably still doesnt mean huge nubers since his whole style of game is pass first pass second and take shots third. But odds are wroten will play sg.
