Honestly, the verdict is not surprising in the least. Casey Anthony is a bad, bad person but there is no proof that she is a murderer.

It’s a shame that investigators weren’t able to gather enough evidence. Those guys on Indian crime shows would have proved her guilty in days.

 In order to convict someone of murder, the prosecution has to prove without reasonable doubt that the person committed the crime.  While it seems extremely probable that Anthony did commit the murder, a jury can’t convict someone for murder on that grounds.  There were other plausible, if unlikely, scenarios offered in Anthony’s defense.
