If Lousville big man, Terrence Jennings, stays in college until about his Junior year, and can develop an offensive game, it’s a wrap. Where probably going to witness the next Amare Stoudemire (pre-injury). He’s 6’9 just like Amare, but his wingspan makes him look more like 6’10, he has tons of athleticism, he plays with a lot of nastiness and dunks on his opponents at will, runs the floor like a deer, and blocks shots at a high rate. He just got to put his offensive game together.

NOOOO WAY…if Amare played college ball he would be averaging 26-28 ppg and 10 rpg…This guy might be an OK NBA player…but the next Amare? LOL nope

  To Grwgoden08: It’s possible Rick Pitino can develop him enough to be a future NBA All-Star. Have you seen Louisville’s games? This kid is a freak of nature athletically. I haven’t seen a big man, that can absorb contact and can rise so fast and dunk so powerful at once, since Amare (pre-injury) and he has some finesse to his game as well, ala Amare. Yes, Dwight Howard can do that, but Amare before the injury, moved more quicker with his moves and this kid Jennings, has that same type of feline quickness. Terrence Jennings also has a lot of nastiness to him, which is good because he intimidates players that way. If this kid bulks up to about 245 pounds, adds a mid – range jumper, develop a signature post move, with a counter move, become a better free throw shooter, and learn to pass better out of double teams, like Sheek Louch said, “I think we got a problem”.

    no way will this guy be an all-star…come on man if Amare and him were in the same draft class Amare would drop 30 and 15 on this guy.

unless your talking about another player, terrence jennings is 6’6″ 220 while stoudemire is 6’9″, 6’10” 250. one is a power foward-center the other is a small foward. they’re nothing alike…

I have never yet disagreed with any of your post so far. But to say that this kid is the next amare? I can’t see him coming to that high of ceiling. I respect your opinions and agree with most. I hope to see more post from you soon.

  Mr.Duke 1426, If this kid really works at his game, the sky is the limit. Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon,and Patrick Ewing, all where into different activites, not name basketball as youngsters, Duncan loved to swim, while Hakeem and Ewing, both loved soccer, and all three are Hall Famers. Not to say Terrence Jennings will become one, but if people can see all this potential in Arizona’s Jordan Hill and compare him to the likes of Chris Bosh, I don’t see with the tools Jennings has, why he can’t become the next Amare.

This appears to be one of the more farfetched posts ive seen on this site since I registered. Amare is one of the most explosive bigs to enter the league this century. This guy is a role player who benefits from always bieng the least focused on player on the court by the other team. He has done some nice unexpected things but that is a crazy comparison. Maybe he has a shot to make the league but even that is up in the air, let alone if he will be a transcendant, dominant talent like Amare. My opinion isnt any better than anybody elses, but this seems completely over the top praise for a guy whose had a dunk or two here and there when he is WIDE OPEN.

Jennings is no where near as good on offense as Amare. Bad comparison, really, maybe like Amare’s first year in the NBA, but not the the Amare right before injury. This dude will never average 40 ppg against the spurs or in the playoffs, ever.

  To Coherent: I wasn’t trying to say Terrence Jennings is as good as Amare offensively, I was saying with some more years of seasoning under Rick Pitino and some guidance in the NBA, he can probably get to that level.

I see where you coming from don, in terms of looking at Jennings physical tools, and saying it can translate into an Amare like player. But realistically, I don’t think offensively, he has that kind of upside to be a pre-surgery Amare, much-less post-surgery (have you seen jennings shoot a free-throw, terrible). We gotta understand what this kid brings to the table, he’s mainly going to be a defensive presence, not only on the collegiate level, but also at the next level. I feel like you’re undermining how great of a player Amare is when you say this mere freshman, who still has a long way to go, can be as good as him. This guy Amare is a beast, and I don’t think I have sit here and write about his skills. However, Jennings most likely will develop into an nba prospect when its all said and done, while improving his post moves, and overall feel for the game, but his main calling card will be defense. Pitino said it himself, he said “Jennings can develop into a Ben Wallace like player for us,” so even he knows the kinda player he has on his hands. At the next level, I see him maybe having a Ronny Turiaf type impact, a guy who will block and change shots, provide energy off the bench, and if his jumpshot develops, occasionally knock down some jumpers. The problem is everyone is quick to label and compare guys when there still so young. We don’t even know if this guy will be consistently highly effective on the college level yet, so lets not get ahead of ourselves. But way to go out on a limb don, if he does develop into a beast at the next level, you called it, lol…

This is probably the most absurd post that I have seen on this site. I agree with a lot of what bigdud says. Yes, Jennings is athletic and has very long arms but an Amare comparison is plain crazy. Amare at 16 years old was physically a beast already and would literally just go through people. Yeah this kid can catch a dunk once in a while, but even projecting based on potential I just can’t even believe I am dignifying this post with a response. Since everyone on this site seems to have to have someone to compare a player to I’ll give you a BEST case scenario for this kid. At BEST and this is with a ton of improvement he could be a Hilton Armstrong!!!! Jennings is VERY athletic but it will take him 4 years to reach a Hilton Armstrong level if at all. Do you have any clue what kind of player Amare Stoudemire is? As I said before this is the most ridiculous post I have seen on here

Ok I don’t really agree with this post but a lot of you don’t remember Amare coming out of high school.. He was a dunker that was it… I played aau tourney against him he had no jump shot and a small post game… He would try to dunk anything he got his hands on. He didn’t get a jump shot until he had his micro fracture surgery. It forced him to hsoot if he was gonna be in the gym..
