jonus grumbyParticipantjust playing GarPax here for fun and trying to clear cap space. anyone want Korver at $5 mil, Brewer at $4.8 mil or Watson at $3.1? i’m just trying to clear cap space so I’ll just take a conditional 2td rounder where the conditions will never be met.
any takers for any of your teams?

4hff4f427ParticipantI don’t think this is what you had in mind, but how bout this:
CHICAGO RECIEVES: Richard Hamilton and a future 2nd round pick
DETROIT RECIEVES: Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer
This trade would clear up about $10 million of your cap space over the next 3 years plus you get a solid veteran starter to play with Derrick Rose. Plus, this helps us Pistons free up the logjam we have on the perimeter.
Just an idea.

jonus grumbyParticipantI think the Bulls would have to take that one. a little concerned if NBA goes to a hard cap.

theEDGEParticipantGar=Gar Forman, who I think is the Bulls president(people correct me if I’m wrong on this)
Pax= John Paxson, Bulls GM

Memphis MadnessParticipantWhy would Detroit do that trade? They get rid of Rip Hamilton but don’t get that much back. If I were them I would not want to send a 2nd round pick and would want a 1st round pick in return. Two mediocre guards who aren’t that young aren’t guys that Detroit should get excited about, especially when one of your rivals gets a guy that can put them over the top.
If I were Detroit I would want Omer Asik, a 1st rounder, and Brewer or Korver for Rip Hamilton.

4hff4f427Participant@Memphis Madness Nothing personal, but I’ve been proposing piston trades on sites long enough that I can tell you that would NEVER happen. Rip’s trade value has badly dropped around the league. Go ahead, ask around. No one is talking about his 14ppg potential for a playoff team, but for his bad year last year and his contract. I can almost gauruntee you Chicago wouldnt do that deal of yours. And btw, another reason I came up with that idea was that we(Pistons) could move BG into the starting lineup where he belongs and either a) let Stuckey go as a free agent, or b) possibly re-sign him as a sixth man. Thats my take. Make sense now?

Moon RiverParticipantGar Foreman and John Paxson- the two headed monster that is the GM of the Bulls. Technically, Gar is the GM and Pax is President of something, but they make all of the decisions.

Memphis MadnessParticipant^^
Yeah, and the Bulls are in love with Asik. Wonder if the Bulls would send a 1st round pick and one of those two (Brewer or Korver) to the Pistons for Rip Hamilton.
Brewer and Korver didn’t do much in the playoffs and Rip has proven that he can score in the playoffs. So why can the Pistons only get Brewer and Korver for Rip (and also have to throw in a 2nd round pick to do so)?
I want to see the Pistons rebuild and the Bulls get better. I don’t think the Pistons get enough out of this deal to pull the trigger.

TallmanNYCParticipantKorver is younger than Rip, so that would be more in line with the Pistons rebuilding.
No chance of trading Asik unless they get a starter.

JoeWolf1Depending on the CBA, Chicago would still have the mid level exception which is around 5 million dollars, if they could get a free agent SG like Crawford or Richardson to sign on for a bit of a pay cut much like Mike Miller did last year for Miami.

doubledribblerParticipantIf I am correct the contracts of Korver, Watson and Brewer may end up being fairly valuable to use in a trade. After this season if any of those guys are waived before the start of the season then Korver has 500K guaranteed if waived before 2012-13 season and Watson and Brewer’s contracts are not guaranteed at all if waived before the season. So the Bulls would end up with contracts similiar to what Dallas had with Dampier. You can easily upgrade a player or players in separate deals for a team looking to cut cost.

JPBrayParticipantI think the Bulls need to go after JR Smith. He is a proven all around scorer and the type of athlete needed to play with Rose. Plus his younger age could allow him to grow with the core of this team. He made some comments upon Denver’s exit about wanting to play with a franchise willing to win. He has had issues in the past, but I think Thibs’ system would be the right reign on his talents.

jonus grumbyParticipantcorrect people just flip the positions. Forman is GM and Paxson is team President. However many suspect that Paxson is calling many of the shots. What irks many is Paxson resigned as GM when Bulls were playing poorly and had some less then desirable work ethic type players (which he signed). Then Bulls win lottery and get Rose and some player turnover and Bulls start to win. Paxson could not be found when he resigned for radio and such. Now all is well and Paxson is back on radio and is back in more day to day stuff. Kind of a front runner to me. So the GarPax title.
