jonus grumbyParticipantjust playing GarPax here. Rumor has it Bulls turned down Asik for C Lee at trade deadline. Gibson is a nice role player for Bulls but I think they could get simular player at #30.
If the Bulls offered Asik + #28 or Gibson + #28 how far could they move up in the draft? NBA teams seem to value productive bigs that are cheap. I know that as me being GarPax I am not to trade big for small but I really want a SG and I think I can replace Gibson or Asik. (we know there will be players drafted after #29 that will be as good or better then Gibson or Asik I just need to pick the correct player.)
So could Bulls move up enough to get Brooks, Thompson or Hamilton.

BKKnicksfanParticipantGibson and the 28th for the 17th?

JoeWolf1I feel, unless the Bulls can move up into the top 7 or 8, no player in this draft would be able to make the kind of impact Gibson or Asik made in the playoffs last year. This is not the draft to trade a young player who is proven something to roll the dice on rookie in a weak draft.
Jamal Crawford and Jason Richardson are both free agents this season and Chicago could stand to add another veteran. I think the ideal situation would be adding a SG as free agent rather than trading away part of a young bench to get a SG in a weak draft.

Johnny ChillIsn’t the draft where they want to trade one of their backup bigs plus a late 1st rounders just to move up.
I think they can get a lot of value picks at #28 and #30, and find a SG or SF or PF.

Stojakovicfor3ParticipantI guarantee the Bulls wouldn’t get rid of Asik for a first round pick unless it was a top 5 or 10 pick. They’re so high on him. They were offered Courtney Lee for Asik but turned it down. If they turn that down they won’t want a mid first round pick in a weak draft for Asik AND their first round pick.
Same thing with Taj

cward23ParticipantA similar player at 28 to Taj?..Lets take a look at players from the past at 28
Donte Greene
Tigo Splitter
Maruice Ager
Ian Muhini
Beno Udrich
Lenardo Barbosa
Dan Dickau
Eric BarkleyI think Jajuan Johnson would be a good player to Replace Taj At 28th (should be on the board) who can contribute right away but Its not easy to replace Taj at the 28th pick

Looks like Asik will be a Bull the rest of his career then…..

jonus grumbyParticipantdo you think the Bulls have the cap space to sign a Crawford or Richardson. If they do sign a FA that would be a lot of $$ tied up in the SG position. I think they will have a hard time trading any of their current SG’s to clear cap space. I am afraid that somebody will offer Crawford or Richardson more $$ then the Bulls have.

Johnny ChillCrawford doesn’t deserve starters $. He would be a good add to the Bulls, but not as a starter.
Richardson is overrated.
Bulls can do better. Like Aaron Affalo!!!

kobyzParticipantGibson alone is worth a pick in 10-15 range at least, he is very good player and with a winner attitude, bulls absolutely should keep him.

joecheck88ParticipantArron Affalo is not what the bulls need. They need a legit 2 guard that can handle the rock and score own his own not just spot ups and cuts to the rim. Crawford would be good but may command too much money. J Rich would be ok but I wouldn’t invest in him either. I would trade Taj and 1 of the first rounders for a legit 2 guard, I just don’t know who that guy is. I would say Kevin Martin but the Bulls have nobody the Rockets want except Asik(not happening). Monta could be ok but they would sacrifice some defense and would need more than gibson and late round picks.
The Bulls just need to draft BPA with their picks and hopefully the right trade will come along. Chicago can be a little patient as this is year 1 of many years they will compete for championships.

He’s a good role player….that’s about it.

cward23ParticipantBulls have 64 Million tied up next season so they can’t afford any good players
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 8:05am #547720
cward23ParticipantTaj Averaged 9pts 7 reb as a starter while also being a good defender, about the same as Ibaka as far as scoring and as far as rebounding he’s in teh same class (same or 1 rebound less) as
Gasol
kenyon Martin
Amare
Dirk
Bosh
Josh Smith0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 8:07am #547723

BKKnicksfanParticipantSo C-Ward…. Gibson is better then how many of those players you just listed?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 8:07am #547725

JoeWolf1Depends on the collective bargaining agreement, they could use the midlevel exception.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 8:12am #547731
B-ball fanParticipantHe is a solid role player . . . The Bulls wouldn’t be guaranteed to get that with even a 10-15 pick. They shouldn’t trade a great defensive 4 who can hold his own on offense.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 8:16am #547741

JoeWolf1Yeah, Gibson can defend 4 positions which is huge in Chicago’s system, the only guy that would be able to replace that in this draft is Chris Singleton and he’s a less developed offensive player, Gibson has some serious value for Chicago and again, this is a weak draft. There aren’t a lot of safe bets in the 10-15 range.

dodgerParticipantif Vince gets bought out, the bulls need to be the first to call him. Keep all their guys and just work on taking the next step. Gibson is solid, Asik shows some skill, anything would be a downgrade unless it’s Dwight for the league minn.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 8:35am #547758

r377ParticipantGibson and Asik were great in the playoffs. Winning playoffs isn’t all about stats – these guys defend and do the little things needed. From memory there were quite a few games where they had a better +/- than boozer and noah……i don’t need to bring up how bad boozer’s defence was…….
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 8:41am #547760

JoeWolf1@dodger, I heard Vince Carter was going to be waived
I don’t feel his defense and attitude would be a very good fit with Chicago
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/20/2011 - 3:28pm #548064
PulseGlazerParticipantIf you check the numbers, the Bulls were defensive BEASTS with Asik and Taj on the court. The 2nd unit being so strong defensively flat out won Chicago a ton of games. Because of that Asik and Gibson have more value to Chicago than they would other teams, which makes a trade seemingly unlikely unless another team thinks they can duplicate just how effective the Bulls utilized their talents. Of the duo, Asik is far more likely to go. Tag is a neccessity with Boozer constantly hurt.
