JoeWolf1I know he has withdrawn his name from this years’ draft, but the recent European combine numbers were released and his standing vert is 17” and his max vert is only 20” and despite a 7’5” wingspan only has a 10’11” max reach… the same as Isiah Thomas.
It’d be one thing if he were polished and had a nice skill set, but a raw player with poor athleticism, I guess I just don’t get the hype. I have enough questions about Bismack Biyombo who is a great athlete with a limited skillset, but Noguira was getting some 1st round buzz before he withdrew.
I’ve only read scouting reports, has anyone seen him play much, or know what the hype is about?

NJHooper95ParticipantI saw a scouting report that compared him to Tyson Chandler. No where near the truth. Chandler was a tremendous Athlete coming out of High School. Noguiera has alot of length and not very much explosiveness or an offensive game. I have seen him play two or three times and I wasnt very impressed. Yet, he is young, and he is tall, so maybe he will develop into a player down the road. I didnt know his athleticism was that poor as far as the testing.

WinterSoldierParticipantWhere are the European combine numbers posted?

JoeWolf1Yeah, I was pretty surprised to tell you the truth. His 20.9” max vert is the lowest in the history of the combine that I could find out. I figured he was at the very least an average athlete with great length.

boshjonesfordParticipantI am not surprised to be honest (before seeing the numbers) although NBADRAFT gave him a high ranking in terms of athletisim… if you see his highlights he really doesnt look too athletic

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantWhere are the european combine results? No one can have a vertical that bad.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantWow, I was just looking at those stats on DX and realized that Andrew Albicy can’t even touch the rim with a 9′ 10.86” max vert reach.

mikeyvthedonParticipantYou do not need to jump very high. I am not saying he is a great athlete, he very obviously is not, but all I know is that it is a lot easier for him to get his max vert reach than it is for Isaiah Thomas to reach his. Take these things with a grain of salt, after all, how often are these guys jumping as high as they possibly can? Not very. Lucas is nothing amazing, but he has 3 more years until it is mandatory for him to enter the draft. I am guessing he will get into better shape, and maybe than he will put up better numbers in these combines. Plus, I am not so sure Bismack is as incredible an athlete as people say. He did not even participate in athletic tests. But, most blocked shots are not made at over 11 feet. They are made by guys who have length, and Biyombo and even Nogueira have plenty of that.

WizardofOzParticipantYeah, when I saw those numbers, I was STUNNED! How can you be talked about getting picked in the 1st-round, and you’re that unathletic, especially when you’re as raw and skinny as he is?
I haven’t seen Bebe play much, but he doesn’t look as unathletic as those numbers suggest in this highlight video.

providencefriars1ParticipantI agree with Joe Wolf that standing vert is pathetic. I am a 5’11” white 2 guard and mine is 21 inches.

iguapops420ParticipantBetter in game athleticism. Quick. There’s more to atleticism than vert.

RicoParticipantMost be off due to conversion because all the euros are on the low side. Robin Benzing tested no step vert at 12.3, but in 2010 he tested at 22.4.

JoeWolf1The metric system isn’t exactly rocket science, most 12 year olds with a calculator can calculate conversions. Benzing is known as a below the rim player with athletic questions, 12 is below pedestrian, but he made up for it a bit by testeting a 24 on his max vert

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantOn the flip side, 20 year old Serbian combo guard Nemanja Nedovic posted a staggering 41 inch max vert while measuring 6-4 in shoes.
And 19 year old shooting guard Tomas Satoransky who always seems to impress when given the chance measured in at 6-7 and 207 lbs while putting up an impressive 36 inch vertical.

HaleParticipant12.3 inch no step vert??? How is that possible?

iguapops420ParticipantThese things are off. Have to be.
