Tha_PrinceParticipantKey Notes: Enes Kanter, Jon Leuer and Nikola Vucevic measured in as the tallest, with Kanter coming in at 6’11.25", Leuer 6’11.5" and Vucevic 6’11.75". Vucevic also recorded the longest wingspan at 7’4.5" and standing reach at 9’4.5". Both Vucevic and Kanter can now legitimately be considered centers at the next level. As expected, Isaiah Washington was the shortest player at 5’10.25" in shoes, but that’s actually an inch or two taller than teams thought he was. Kawhi Leonard and Greg Smith unsurprisingly had the largest hands. Everyone who shook hands with them throughout the week commented on how their hands disappeared in theirs. Trey Thompkins’ 15.5% body fat was the highest in the camp; Brandon Knight had the lowest at 4.2.Read more NBA news and insight: http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=19859#ixzz1MuzkgczT

khaled_a_dParticipantsome random notes about the measurements :
Jordan Williams : just 6’9!! well at least he did well losing wait in the last couple of moths,I think he realized that his position at the next level is PF with his length ,still like him as a prospect
Burks measures are great for SG
was surprised that Jordon Hamilton is over 6’8,that might help him raising his stock
Kawhi Leonard has a very big wingspan for SF ,actually for any position tbh
as for Vucevic, I think BTPH said enough0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 8:51am #533935
Memphis MadnessParticipantKyrie Irving is kinda chubby. Sounds like Marcus Williams from U Conn a few years ago.
Kanter has good size, which is great for him.
Williams’ body fat was a little too high.
Jimmer has small hands, not very good. But, I think he has solid size at 6’2 1/2 in shoes. Kemba isn’t a munchkin which is good.
I like DeAndre Liggin’s measurements for a second round guy. He can defend some, hit some 3’s, and he played some point guard at Kentucky. Could be a solid 2 guard like Sefolosha, Bogans, or Stevenson. Guys who play the 2 but only for defensive purposes and as guys who can hit some jumpers. Tony Allen is even a guy like that — but without the shooting touch. So his upside is pretty good (starter on a contender) with a downside of a solid 9th guy who can do some of everything from the guard position (Sam Young with better range, Ronnie Brewer, James Jones or Dorrell Wright with better D with an inferior 3 point shot, a smaller Corey Brewer with a better skill set). Similar to David Lighty but Liggins has slightly better measurements.

Chilbert arenasParticipantFaried only 6’6 and Knight 6’1.5 are shorter than i thought they would be. Jon Leuer at a solid 6’10 w/no shoes is impressive. Morris twins had heights that I expected but their wingspans aren’t as bad as people made them out to be. Shumpert measuring in much bigger than i expected with and impressive wingspan, should be considered a value pick for defensive purposes alone. And Tristan Thompson only 6’7.5 w/out shoe.

sheltwon3ParticipantWhat was up with reports that Tristan Thompson meausured 6’9" without shoes.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 8:56am #533943

TallmanNYCParticipantMorris twin arms are a little short at just +3". That isn’t short arms for normal people, but basketball really rewards having a long reach and if you look at many of the small forwards or power forwards, their reach is more like +5" over their height.

Chilbert arenasParticipantPeople made them out to have T-rex, as if they were going to be 6’6 or 6’7.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI hate the measurement IN SHOES. I know they play in shoes but with the variability of different shoe heights and the fact that they then round up players are then listed 1.5 to 2 inches taller than they really are. In the past players have been to two combines and measured in at different heights so why don’t they just do no shoes and keep the playing field even?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 9:24am #533958

Tha_PrinceParticipantAgreed I don’t understand how shoes can add 2 inches in height (ex. Darius Morris 6’3.25"-6’5.25")

his body fat percentage of 10.2% was kind of high. Derrick Williams’ was too though.

LOL, I think the casual fan doesn’t quite understand body fat %. They’re probably just comparing Irving to the rest of the players, not realizing that 10.2 for Irving is actually very impressive in comparison with the average healthy 20 year old male. My body fat is just a shade under 10% and I have a six pack.
http://www.vegetarian-diet.info/body-fat-percentage.htm
That’s a decent guide for what healthy body fat percentages look like and as everyone can see Irving’s 10% is very low.
Some of these guys are just ridiculously ripped. Kanter for examply really surprised me by coming in with 5.9% at 260 lbs, that’s pretty incredible. Irving might not be ridiculously cut, or skinny but he’s certainly not chubby.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:04am #533981

Mr. 19134Participant@ Im Your Father because Kyrie Irving has over 10% Body Fat which as you know is ridiculous for a 6’1 PG. But that’s what happens when you play only 11 games.
Can we get some Enes Kanter love? Dude is not only taller then advertised but he is completely ripped with just 5% body fat and looks to be one of the naturaly strongest guys at the combine. Watching Enes right now jump, this guy looks like the first pick in the draft hands down and I been saying that since I saw the video of him throwing down 360 dunks in Chicago last week.
Derrick Williams is taller then Michael Beasley which kind of surprised me including his wingspand and looking at him jump he looks to have a higher vertical. He is no doubt a pure PF in my eyes.
The Morris Twins measured in better then expected and it seems like they have grown since their last measurements. Markieff is no doubt tall enough to play in the post and Marcus is as expected big enough to play combo forward.
Tobias Harris is only 6’6 that really surprised me I thought he was closer to 6’9 because of how big his shoulders are.
I’m surprised Tristan didn’t measure out to have a longer wingspan.
Honeycutt and Hamilton got T-Rex wingspans.
Kennth Faried must has an insanse vert because not only is he short but his wingspan wasn’t as expected. Watching him play he looks like he had atleast a 7’3 wingspan because he consistently out reaches taller people for rebounds.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:07am #533983

Mr. 19134Participant@ Dwight Howard we are not watching average males, or even males that are in great shape. We are watching professional athletes that work out every single day. I can’t remember a PG having a body fat that high who was considered a top 5 pick.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:21am #533989

mikeyvthedonParticipantWell, he basically measured 6’9 with shoes. I admit I got bad information from Bleacher Report on that, when at first they said 6’9 and that is it, than said 6’9 without shoes. I am sorry, my bad. They also said Kemba Walker was 5’10.75 without shoes, when he was actually one quarter of an inch shorter. Hey, what I get from trying to look up early info.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:23am #533991

ItsVictorOladipoParticipant^
You’re right, and when Irving gets into top shape he’ll probably be about 8% or so. But that doesn’t make him "chubby" by any means. I can’t find any numbers on body fat from before 2007 but I’d be surprised if Deron Williams and Raymond Felton had much less body fat on them than Irving.
Irving has never been a physical specimen by any means so I don’t think this should hurt him as much as say if someone like Wall had measured at 10% last year.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:48am #534009
AKOOParticipantIf I am a GM you are only getting 1 inch with your shoes on. It is foolish for some people to be getting up to 2 inches you have to cut the line. I think women have 2 inch heels so that should let you know something funny is going on when guys measure 2 inches taller with shoes. I am still waiting on the athletic measurements because if you can’t get off your feet any your height can be neutralized to a large extinct unless you are Ming or Bol and none of these guys are that.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 11:10am #534027
boshjonesfordParticipantWow Knight and Irving are the same height (without shoes) didnt expect that
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 11:41am #534046
B FreeParticipantThe way it seems to work is everyone gets about 1.5 inches on average with shoes on but if you are a big enough name they then round up if they are at say 6’7.75 in shoes they call him 6’8. Melo who measured in at 6’6.25 without shoes but is always called a legit 6’8 while Damion James and Wes Johnson measured in at the same 6’6.25 and are listed at 6’7 and Paul George measured in at 6’7.75 without shoes .25 shorter then Blake and is only listed at 6’8. So while it isn’t an exact science they should probably just measure without out shoes and give everyone an inch and a half with no rounding up.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 05/20/2011 - 11:57am #534052
B FreeParticipantActually Irving is a quarter inch taller without shoes
