I watched the game live.  He did ok, but not a great game.  He’s been playing very well offensively last couple of months, but not this game.  He still did ok with 8 points on 4/6 shooting.  He had one of his signature dunks in the first half, and a decent score down low using his length.  Defensively he picked up too many fouls, some silly, especially at the begining of the 2nd half when the refs started calling the game little tighter.  He bothered people with his length, but got scored on  2-3 times by Kenny Gregory.  Still he forces people to shoot over and around him.

Ya im watching the game right now and im in the 2nd quarter. Gregory just took Veesly down to the block and out muscled him for an easy 2. Veesly has shown great athleticism so far but he needs to bulk up. He had a great rebound on one end made a good outlet pass ran the floor got back and threw down a monster dunk.

I have noticed what a great passer and unselfish player Veesly is, he made a great pass to Jawai off a screen and roll and has made 3 or 4 great post passes for easy buckets. He also had a great pass to a teammate cutting backdoor in the 1st quarter.

On his team though Jawai, Jerrells, and Gist have looked good so far. Jawai is a huge matchup problem and can score in the post but only goes over his left shoulder and looks a little out of shape. Gist is playing the four and has streched the floor with his jumpshot and used his athleticism to get to the rim. Jerrells has hit two threes and a floater so far but really hasnt done too much to create offense for his teammates and at the end of the 1st quarter he over penatrated which led to a bad turnover.

So far im pretty impressed with Veesly’s game

Here’s my basic analysis of Jan Vesely.

    Strengths:

    • Very athletic, top knotch dunker.
    • Improving 3 pt range, but mostly plays inside.
    • Intangibles guy
    • Is a mismatch for opponents because of his length.
    • Hard Worker, and wants to get better and loves to learn (this is why he stayed, when he could have gone pro last year and still would’ve have been a lottery pick)

    Weaknesses:

    • Not a very good ball handler (this is the main reason why I think he will be a PF in the NBA not a 3.)
    • Very poor rebounder
    • Very skinny. Needs to bulk up more

Solid, although he isn’t that skinny. He’s listed at 240 lbs, which is respectable for a 6’11" power forward. Trouble disagreeing with anything else. Did you watch the game?

@nomoney, Not really, I’ve seen plenty of highlights from him before. I really like this kid and so consequently I have evaluated him inside and out; watched highlights of him on youtube and read evualuations of him both on this site and at Draftexpress. So I feel like watching the game will just show me stuff I already know and have seen before.

Yeah I guess that skinny thing is a little off but for being 240lbs and 6’11 you would think he would get more rebounds but I guess not.

I think I’ll watch the game right now just to see if the same weaknesses that I’ve heard are still there or if he has improved them at all

His frame, and chest are too slight, and his leg power is not strong enough to be a froncourt player in the league. He would have alot easier time developing perimeter skills then "incredibly hulking" up and becoming a physical specimen that he just is not, especially since he has great size, length and athletisism for a SF.

Okay after watching the game, I have to add another strength and another weakness to his game. The strength is that he is a good passer. Although his passing is almost too much that he becomes too passive. Doesn’t take over when he probably should. This could be because he was playing with former draft pick Nathan Jawai, and two other former NBA players, James Gist and Curtis Jerrells. This game also got a little interesting because Vesely was playing against Giorgi Shemardini and Davis Bertans, two other good international players who both could be draft picks this year.

He can also jump pretty high although this could be because of his length, this of course explains his athletic ability. But besides being a poor rebounder he also does not get too many blocks even though he is 6’11. He certainly tries to block alot of shots but his timing is not very good and that is certainly something he needs to work on. Honestly after watching this game, I was not that impressed, and he basically showed me the same things I previously are still there.

Bertans barely got any pt in this game if any, and Shermandi doesnt really strike me as NBA talent. Shermandi was a banger in this game who played with a lot of physicality but wasnt that efficient offensively.

I see what you mean Providence. I really didn’t hear Bertans name being called until the 4th quarter, and it was like once or twice. I heard Shemardini’s name in the 2nd quarter, and he did do well. He was a good free throw shooter, and he was an enforcer, but I think he has NBA talent. I would only pick him if he was still available in the 50’s, but I would look at others too. He could go undrafted as well.

The real players in this game were James Gist, and Curtis Jerrells. Nathan Jawai did a little bit, but basically both him and Vesely seemed very ineffective. There was one fast break that Vesely was in and I was so excited because I was gonna see a big time dunk but then he got fouled, I think, and missed the two free throws. And I’m thinking man what a bummer. Partizan won the game thanks to James Gist and Curtis Jerrells. Vesely was basically a non-factor.

Shermandi also didnt appear to have much of a post game, I dont recall seeing him post up. I was surprised after the game when I saw that he was a 7 footer he plays scrappy like an undersized 4. I think the best comparison for Shermandi would be Jeff Foster.

Ive watched a couple games of Shermandini this year. Shermandini plays system basketball, very fundimental garbage type player. Not much athletisism, not much strength just straight hustling fundimentals and execution. He scores within the offense and doesnt put his team in too many bad positions. Smart young player but not an NBA talent. If he develops a bit more of a back to the basket game and continues developing that jumpêr which he has made progress with he could dominate the Euroleague.
