Agree with Gramps. He’s definitely a top 10 player, but I don’t think he’s a top 5. In no particular order I would take Lebron, Wade, Howard, Kobe, and Durant over him and I am a Bulls fan. It’s not a diss on his talent, but MVP doesn’t always equate to best player in the league for the season. If it did, Kobe and Shaq would have both definitely had more than 1 each. I can replace Rose with Deron Williams, Chris Paul, and Russell Westbrook for sure without a huge drop off in wins if any difference at all. Please don’t take this as a slam against Rose. The guy is incredible, but I’m not going to annoint him the greatest thing after one really nice year. He’s young, ahead of schedule in what most people would have predicted and is doing what it takes to win, but let’s give him some more time.

We dont need another Rose MVP thread to add to the 40 we have already had this year, hes already won it its a closed case. And that quote has been used at least 15 times give it a rest.

But he didnt say Rose was the best player in the league, he said he was top 5 and said he was the best point guard.

I think Rose is the best point guard in the game, and I believe the majority of NBA coaches, GMs, and players agree with me. Im not saying this isnt debatable, but you guys do understand as of right now, once Rose wins the MVP trophy, he will have accomplished more than Chris Paul, D-Will, and Westbrook, maybe not Rondo but its not debatable that Rondo is better. And to add to that, he has the most potential to keep improving out of those guards, maybe Westbrook has similar potential. I freaking love Chris Paul, and I thought he was going to possibly be the best point guard of all time prior to his injury, but I still just dont see the same player I did a few years ago.

The point im trying to make its not rediculous to say Rose is the best point guard in the league, as of right now he is the favorite among coaches, gms and players if they voted on it. So if you think a guys think otherwise, you are the underdog my friend. Using the arugment that if you replaced Rose with one of those other guys not only is completely wrong, but its just stupid. Thats like saying well if you took Kobe off the Lakers and replaced him with D-Wade the lakers would still be very good. Well no shit.

I think top 5 is not out of the question either. Its debatable for sure. Kevin Durant is an elite scorer, but I just believe Rose brings soooo much more to his team than what Durant can bring. Personally I think Westbrook is just as good as a player as Durant, I think both are top ten players though.

I agree with you to give it time though. Let the playoffs do the talking. If Rose doesnt play well in the playoffs and Westbrook does, Westbrook could then take over the top spot. But as of right now its Derrick Rose’s to lose.
