burningfloodParticipantDid anyone see this coming? I mean, I didn’t even think VCU belonged in the tournament, and now they’re killing my bracket…kudos to them. They’re just outworking Purdue right now.

HaleParticipantI had Purdue losing this game…to Georgetown. They aren’t that good of a team. But I’d be lying if I said I expected this from VCU.

burningfloodParticipantI had Purdue making the Sweet Sixteen and losing to ND. I had VCU losing in the first round to Georgetown; I would’ve put USC over VCU. I feel pretty stupid now.

burningfloodParticipantOn another note, who would you take in Uconn v. SDSU? I think SDSU has a good chance because they’ve got experience stopping one man teams. Uconn might be more balanced than the BYU Jimmers, and Kemba and the Jimmer have different styles of play, but I think SDSU has a pretty good chance.

ghettosermonParticipantVCU has all the same components of the Mason final 4 team. Skeen is just as good as Jai Lewis. Reddic and Haley play that Will Thomas role. Brandenburg is like Butler, Rozell like Folarin, and Joey Rodriguez is even better than Tony Skinn. This VCU team also surprisingly has a ton of long and athletic bench bodies if guys get in foul trouble. Julian Vaughn and Liubick are two bull strong big east bigs and VCU pushed them around. When they are hitting like this on all levels they are tough. IMO they match up well with Notre Dame with how quickly they scramble and guard the periemter. If they play FSU everything is out the window and it’s anyone’s game. Jamie Skeen is really developing into a draftable prospect. Reminds me a ton of Udonis Haslem. They have now blown away USC, Georgetown, and Purdue. Those are serious college names. Such a well coached team with every player playing their role.

HaleParticipantI picked U-Conn. I just don’t see Kemba allowing them to lose until the elite 8 or final 4.

burningfloodParticipantI’m a Duke fan, and I’d like to see a Smith-Kemba or Irving-Kemba matchup. That’d be pretty exciting.

SwatLakeCityParticipantOkay VCU must have just decided to turn it on in the Tourney. Seriously since when does a freakin’ play-in team make it to the sweet sixteen? Who ever had VCU advancing this far in their brackets just had some serious luck. What happened to Purdue? They just got womped.

ghettosermonParticipantI actually think VCU would rather play Notre Dame than Florida State. FSU might be too long, strong, and athletic for them. They are built to defend a perimter team like Notre Dame because of how well they scramble defensively on the perimter. Hansborough and Abromitis are a scary duo but they just shut down 2 of the top duo’s in the nation in Juwan Johnson/Etwan Moore and Austin Freeman/Chris Wright. VCU always has been a good team but faced inconsistent play. I think a big part of this spark is that the Seniors thought they wouldn’t make the tourny. Joey Rodriguez, Rozell, Skeen, Nixon all thought that they had wasted their senior season when they knew they had a good team. I think they feel like they have been given a second chance and are out there playing with no fear or nerves.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantVCU has sooooo much swag.
Teach me how to Dougie. My grandma used to love me.
I hope they go to the Final Four.
