…and I think his team mates are getting sick too. With Denver down by two and a few seconds left on the block, J.R. Smith grabbed a rebound. He then dribbled up the court, passed it to Ty Lawson, who then passed it to Nene who missed the tying shot (his only miss of the night btw). That’s right. THREE Nuggets touched the ball on the final possession. And none of their names were Carmelo Anthony (who is slightly more of a clutch shooter than Nene).

The funny thing about this whole possession? When J.R. Smith grabbed that board, Carmelo was right beside him. He was begging him for the ball. He was just short of getting down on his knees and pleading for the ball. After the game, he tossed his headband in disgust. If there was a crying baby in the front row, Melo probably would have punched him. So much for "I’ll take a long hard look at resigning…". That was just to get the Denver folk off his back, and also to get NY sweating a little. That’s one less obstacle for NY now.

And after all this, an EVEN funnier fact arises. On that last possession, Denver had not 1, not 3, but TWO timeouts! Now, this could be J.R. Smiths "low IQ" (I love JR btw), but I think it goes a little deeper than that. Maybe a Melo-boycott going on there. Also, Coach Karl had a chance to call that timeout, and I don’t anyone dares question that mans IQ. Does this mean Karl is getting annoyed too? Who knows. This is bordering "THE DECISION" in terms of annoyance.

I wish I had a video to embed for you guys, but I spent minutes looking and couldn’t find anything. What you guys think?

I highly doubt Melo was "just short of getting down on his knees and pleading for the ball".

When you watch a basketball game and there are seconds left and the opposing team misses the shot, it’s smart to not call a time out.  The defense won’t be set.  I think you’re simply nitpicking at this subject here.  Maybe J.R. Smith is getting tired of Melo, but I doubt George Karl blew a game on purpose.

Just trying a little exagerration to set the tone. But did you watch the game? Melo was clapping his hands right into J.Rs ear pretty much. And while I do agree it may be smart not to call the timeout, Melo wasn’t happy about it either way.

“We made a good defensive stop, J.R. (Smith) got the rebound, I was calling for it and then I saw him just take off,” Anthony said. “And then I’m thinking he’s going to take it across half court, get control of it and call timeout. But it didn’t happen like that. And then I’m thinking, ‘Why didn’t George call timeout either?

“Even if we did call timeout, we had a chance to set something up,” Anthony continued. “We still had a chance to take a shot that we might have felt good with. To have seven or nine seconds left in the game, I feel pretty confident at that time with the ball in my hands to make something happen.”

I didn’t watch the game but I watched the highlight when Melo was calling for the ball.  You have to remember J.R. Smith has more ego and cockiness than skill.  The guy probably invisioned himself crossing some people over, spinning off others, fading away, and hitting the game winning J.

    1.  Melo should have had the ball in his hands.

    2.  After Melo did not receive the ball, he shouldn’t have gotten angry or assumed a timeout would have been called, he should have gone up court with JR.

    3.  All in all, those last seconds simply showed JR isn’t too happy with Melo, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that George Karl is also angry with Melo because of the trade rumors.  There was obviously something going on there between Melo and JR though.

That’s true. I do feel bad for Karl  though. If all this trade talk is stressing him out at all, it must not be good for his health. This pretty much squashes him taking a hard look at staying I guess, not that those chances were ever high anyways.

And I don’t know if it JRs ego or cockiness. He did pass the ball up to Ty Lawson.

WOW, Jerry Sloan is retiring? WTF?
