So we’re already over a quarter of the way into the season. If I was to tell before the season that each of these stats would be a sure thing at this point early December, which would you say was the least realistic?

    – The Heat are 1 game ahead of the Knicks 23 games in

    – Rajon Rondo averaging 14.1 assists

    – Lakers 3rd in the West

    – Kevin Love averaging 20 and 15.5

    – John Wall top 5 in the league in assists and steals

    – The Spurs are 18-3

    – Blake Griffin avearaging 20 and 11

    – Darko 2nd in the league in blocks

    – Russell Westbrook #7 in NBA.com’s MVP rankings while Durant is unranked

2 of those things surprise me..thats Westbrook at number 7 in MVP Race ,and Durant not in top 10..And the Lakers 3rd in the West..

I said Kevin Love would be the nba’s leading rebounder..And Rondo might lead the nba in assists..Rondo has spent almost 4 years with those guys and he know the places to get them the ball…

Kind of figured Wall to be among the league leaders in assists and steals…

Darko has always had the abilty to block shots..

And the Spurs were slowed down last year becuz so many of their players were hurt..This year they’re healthy..

Even the average fan knew Blake had a great chance to average a double double..

There are some surprising things there, the Spurs record, the amount of rebounds Love is averaging as well, some other things, but right now Rondo’s assist totals are ridiculous. We all thought he might average double digit assists, but 14? That is in Stockton territory, and while I do not see him ever being that Stockton type to lead the league in assists for 10 years, that is just a huge total. Very impressive, it is almost twice Rondo’s career average! 4.3 assists more than last year. Even when it balances out, if he is at 12, it would surprise me more than anything on this list. It probably shouldn’t, but that is just how I feel. Teams early season records really do not faze me, and those MVP projection things are pretty ridiculous and seem to be a way to gain viewership to the site.

to all those that said before the season(and there were quite a few) that k love would lead the league in rebounding. my props to you. it wasnt a crazy prediction but i still thought howard would lead the league.

other than the heat and knicks being so close, none really surprise me. it is still only 23 games. maybe the spurs off to such a hot start with duncan not getting 30mpg.

Heat just one ahead of Knicks at 29 games in, Westbrook, and Lakers being in 3rd. (they must have just passed the Jazz last night. Darn them Heat. Well, pretty soon the Jazz will get that spot back.)

The Spurs record was something i really didn’t expect, Parker has put last season behind him and has re-captured his 08-09 form, once again, the Spurs are going to be in the hunt for a title.

With Jefferson gone to Utah, i expected Love’s rebounding stats to increase (pretty much a given) but i never expected Love to first, have a 30-30 game and second, to be a consistent dominant rebounder, for a guy that’s 6’9 and has average athletic ability, he really has a nose for rebounding. It just makes you think, if Love had superior physical attributes of a Dwight Howard, combine that with his own timing and IQ, he’d be a frightening player to say the least.

It’s close between the Heat being 1 game ahead of the Knicks and Westbrook being #7 in MVP rankings.

The first is not because I was convinced the Heat would dominate the entire league, but I certainly thought they would be much better than the Knicks.

And I thought Westbrook was always going to play second fiddle to Durant and wouldn’t put up this kind of numbers.

    – The Heat are 1 game ahead of the Knicks 23 games in  ( I doubt no one expected this to be true this late not even Knicks fans

    – Rajon Rondo averaging 14.1 assists( I am not surprised by this because they have a lot of talented bigs

    – Lakers 3rd in the West( this is not shocking at all.  It is early and Lakers don’t have Bynum.  I think they will be tough to beat once Bynum comes back and gets comfortable with all the new players and what guys were doing before hand)

    – Kevin Love averaging 20 and 15.5( this is not surprising because now he is actually getting minutes, I am more surprised at his 3 point shooting)

    – John Wall top 5 in the league in assists and steals(This is not a shocker at all)

    – The Spurs are 18-3( this is a shocker but I wonder if they can keep it up)

    – Blake Griffin avearaging 20 and 11( Everyone just knew Griffin would be a double double his rookie year and the only shock would be some people may have thought he numbers would be higher and it would be if he could make more of his free throws)

    – Darko 2nd in the league in blocks( this is not really a shocker to me because Darko already showed he can do this and now he is no a team that give him the minutes to average this many blocks)

    – Russell Westbrook #7 in NBA.com’s MVP rankings while Durant is unranked(This is a shocker but the thing is Durant has been hurt but yet he still is leading the league in scoring)
