I’m sure we all remember how Jeff dominate out of conference competition with jumpers, drives, long range bombs during the early part of the season. Once conference play started things changed and the same could be in store for Walker. Yes teams you dont play in conference can scout you before they play you but its much different then playing against a team/coach who has played against you for 2 years 2 to 3 times a year. Walker has been outstanding and deserves the praise that he gets but lets see if things change once conference play starts.

Thats not a bad comparison but i believe Jeff teague went mid first round and is a key part of the hawks future so thats nothing to complain about. Kemba is gonna be a lotto to mid first round pick after its all said done.

yea i dont either and a couple of people dont but there are some that think he will and are ready to crown him first team allamerican or player of the year now. If the season ended now then yeah they have a great case, but conference season hasnt started yet and thats where we findd out what a player is really made of.

Yea I highly doubt his #s stay at this level, but its early in the season, and hopefully those younger guys start gaining more confidence so he won’t have to score 30 per. Yea the Big East is just too tuff. But with that said, he’ll have a great season nonetheless. I see him as sort of a will bynum at the next level. I think there extremely similar in terms of their frames and game and athleticism. I don’t see Kemba projecting as a starting point guard, as he’s naturally a guy looking for his. He’ll be a nice spark plug of a bench, and may start in the league a couple years but will be better served as a reserve. His game has definitely improved and he looks so comfortable and under control out there. It’s really amazing to see after watching him at Rice HS and in his 1st two years at Uconn. I’m so happy for this kid, has really worked hard to get to this point. But hey, lets not jump the gun with the Big East schedule still awaiting. This league is tough and can  humble you real quick .

you’re better then that Stanford Hoops.

I got ridiculed for having Kemba Walker on a list of my National Player of the Year Candidates like 3 months ago so I for one am not hoping on a band wagon or surprised at his play.

Kemba Walker got better every game last season and was huge down the stretch for an underachieving UCONN team.  My bet was that with the team all his Walker was due for a breakout year.  He is virtually unguardable on the college level now that he is hitting his jump shot.

After leading his team to victories over Michigan State and Kentucky I thought people would be coming around to him by now but I guess not.  He isn’t going to player too many, if any, teams in his conferance better then Kentucky or MSU.  And he owned Kalin Lucas.  Don’t shoot the messanger I’m just saying.

Thinking about it, his season is looking EERILY similar to that of Jeff Teague’s when Teague was a Soph. He’s a very comparable player to Teague as well. I think this about as perfect a comparable situation as there has been in a while. I think Walker will average around 18 or 19 ppg and 4 apg at the end of the year. It’s certainly unreasonable to expect him to light it up for the whole season this way. Especially with the advanced scouting that will come in Big East play, and the fact that teams will start trapping him on ball screens sooner rather than later (Michigan State (very suprisingly), Kentucky, and Wichita State all have done a poor job of this…..Even I know you trap screens when you have someone dynamic guard off the bounce like Walker and mediocre at best guys setting the screens to free him up). Look for minor adjustments like this to be made by the time the conference swing starts, and look for Walker’s production and easiness to operate to decrease because of it.

@mr19134 Ive had to explain this is the past, Kentucky and msu may be more talented then the teams in the big east but the teams and coachs have played against walker for years so they will be better prepared defensively then Kentucky or msu were. if you think walker is gonna average 30ppg in the big east you are very sadly mistaken. Hes still a good player and will have some games were he gets good numbers but dont be surprised when his numbers dip in the big east. Ive said this before about all players that drop buckets before conference play starts

His numbers will come back down to earth, I’d say he will hover around 19-20ppg,  But Kemba is a more of a pure point man than Jeff Teague was. I remember one of the things really questioned about Teague was his ability to run a team and be a playmaker, i think everybody knew he could score the ball, where as i think Kemba has shown he can run the team last year and his biggest knock wus his jumpshot along with his strength from a draft prospect standpoint. I see Kemba being a slightly better version of DJ Augustine in the NBA. A solid starter or really good backup.

Good comparison, although I think Kemba is quicker than Teague, but cant rise and finish above the rim like Teague can……

As far as Kembas production I think it will fall off but not to the extent like Jeff Teague did.

Kemba is the number 1,2,3 option on offense, while Jeff Teague got moved off the ball when Ish smith came back and alot of people felt that when they took the ball out of his hands that brought his level of production down and they also still had James Johnson who was a first round draft pick that year

Kemba does have more natural PG skills than Teague. Last year his game was penetrate and dish or go to the line. He has more PG potential than Teague IMO.

Being compared to Jeff Teague as a basketball player should be an honour on any level, even to most of the NBA calibur players. Any PG who i not in the NBA wishes they were as good as Jeff Teague besides a couple PG’s (maybe 4 or 5). Teague is going to be a very good NBA player IMO and next year he will get a ton of run with Bibby aging more and Crawford eventually moving on.

I dont think Kemba Walker is going to get 30 ppg ll year but the talent will be evident and I doubt his stock will drop off that much. I believe he makes a statement and competes for National Player of the Year.
