    A SF.

He is really long athletic and I think he can play spot minutes at the PF if needed.

I would have to say SF.

He might player PF in spurts in the NBA, but I think his primary position is PF. He’s like a guard in a foward’s body.

I think it really depends on how much muscle he adds in college. If he adds A LOT of muscle in college, then people might say I will be a PF at the next level, but if he doesn’t add too much weight, I see him as a SF.

He’ll start off as an SF but may progress to PF down the line in his career as he fills out. The only way I could see him being a PF more from day one would be if a smallball team drafted him or he had a really dominant C alongside him.

This all depends on where he gets drafted. Remember Kevin Durant was ranked as the best power forward in the draft and in his rookie year was starting at shooting guard. Jones doesn’t have Durants shooting ability, but going into their freshman year he certainly does have about the same dribbling ability, and even better passing skills, and is without a doubt to anybodies mind quicker. The same goes with Josh Smith in his rookie year he was starting at shooting guard, and played small forward before eventually settling in as a power forward because of the way the Hawks roster filled out. But Jones can play both of them positions just as effectively and he has added 25 lbs of muscle meaning he won’t be getting pushed around down low.

But like I said it depend on the team he gets drafted by. If Jersey of Washington get the first pick he will be groomed to play small forward. If Detroit gets the pick he will be groomed to play power forward. But looking at the list of teams in contention to get the first or 2nd pick next year they all look like they are going to need a Small Forward before a power forward. Like SacTown, Golden State, Jersey, and Washington.

what hitster said. Hell transition from sf to pf. Much like how Tyreke Evans will become a sg once he improves his shot and sac gets a point They just have too much size.. Jones wouldnt be ready to be a 4 in the nba right now. It took josh smith 4 or 5 yeears to add strength and become more mature to become a pf.

I think the way the game is today he’ll a SF with no question. With his size and skill set he’ll only get better being at his nature position, which is a small forward.

ThatDude the way the game is going today is a bunch of small forwards playing power forward, and power forwards playing center so Im not sure I get your point there. But you are right that his natural position is small forward.

Waaay 2 versitile and mobile 2 be a 4 man, he could do serious damage on the perimiter, could see him being a face up 4 man in the late stages of his career tho.

when he plays teams like atlanta and phoenix he will see some time at the 4 against guys like turkoglu or josh smith. he should be a sf but will see time at pf and maybe center if he ever plays for team usa.

i am a big believer in size reflecting traditional positions. sometimes roles or skills might effect how a player at that position is used, but i believe that ultimately whatever your skills or role offensively, you tend to play the position that traditionally reflects people of your height. the only real exception being the undersized PF.

So in saying that i think Perry Jones will be a PF or C in the Pro’s. its more a question of which player his game will reflect, will he be a Channing Frye type shooter, a KG type Allround player, an amare jump and dunk type or an La Marcus Aldridge. Of that im honestly not sure

what are some of you guys talking about? I hope you dont make your judgements off of watching hoopmixtape and these other mixes on youtube..If you actually see the kid play he is a very mobile athletic pf ,see this is where people get mixed up they see a couple highlights of him bringing the ball up coast to coast or making a good move off the dribble and hit a couple jumpshots and they think he is a skilled wing..the truth is he could get away with bringing up the ball and handling at the high school level but in college and the nba he will be a very athletic mobile pf. His handle isnt good enough to be a 3 and his jumpshot is not proven so if I was him I would work alot on using my quickness and athleticism to get easy finishes against these other slower power fowards. He should also work on some post moves and develop a deadly mid range maybe even extend out to nba 3 and hes not undersized at all he 6’11 he will be good

He’ll play primarily at PF in college, and some SF too. In the NBA, he will see more time at SF than PF.

I like the Channing Frye and LeMarcus Aldridge type comparisons as both these guys are perhaps mainly PF’s but Aldridge has the game to play SF if the Blazers wanted extra size in the frontcourt maybe with Camby at PF whilst Oden and Big Z play C. Also Frye was used as an offensive C last year by Phoenix although he may be considered mainly a PF.

Turko may play PF this year and yet he kept Rashard Lewis who was a SF in his Seattle days at PF at Orlando. This worked as Orlando have Dwight Howard to guard the paint, with this type of densive anchor then Perry Jones could be a perimeter oriented PF who could use his length on defence without having to mix it in the paint with the bigger frontcourters until he bulks up.

Perry is currently listed at 230lbs so with his height and wingspan he can already be a lockdown defender at SF, adding another 10 to 20lbs in due course will give him the option to be used more at PF if needed but his natural position will come in due course. I don’t really see him as a C unless in smallball lineups or for specific matchups.

SF, because he hates playing in the post. He’s stated this many times. Which is a shame, because no power forward/center could guard him, and he be a weakside post terror…
    if he wasnt a ‘floater’…

He Will prob play pf to start out with till he learns to handle the ball better. He had issues playing sf in the half court. Not so
much on a fast break. His jumper is very inconsistant at this point. He’s awhole lot like Josh smith was at the same stage. Both could handle the ball but has issues in half court. Both athletic and both could hit the three or midrange(make no mistake Josh could hit the three and midrange in highschool)

how come these tall giys in hs want toi always play on the wing. i remember when d howard was coming out of hs and he said he thought he could play some 3. smh. like someone said, just because he looks like he can handle the rock well in hs(which he can handle very well for a big man) doesnt mean that part of his game translates to better competition. i think he could be a kg type if he wanted to but everyone wants to hang out on the 3pt line nowadays. perry jones please grow up and become and man and bang in the post some. you could be the next great pf or you can become the next had the talent but couldnt put it together. he has 3 skills but would be soooo much better as a mismatch 4. like kg was.

I agree. Like I said before he’s a good open court ball handler but struggles against tru small forwards in the half court

He will obviously fix that problem as he works on his ball handling and I think he will play Small Forward in the pros for the same reason Kevin Durant does. Because he has a rare perimeter skill for a 6’11 player. He’ll could be a potential lock down defender with his length and foot speed, plus he’ll be able to shoot over anybody who is guarding him. I kinda agree with the whole if your tall you should be playing down low thing. But when a player is tall with his kind of perimeter skill set it would be to the teams best advantage to play him at the position that will cause the most mismatches which would be small forward because true small fowards over 6’10 arent that common. And who said Lamarcus Aldridge can play small forward are you out your mind.

No it’s not obvious that he will fix that. Did bender fix it or Josh smith. And both had higher
motors and pro trainers to help them. Fix that. He will be playing the four and some five at Baylor. It’s not a given that Hijra gonna work on his handles alone or do more then rely on his god given ability especially with his low motor. And the coachs there will work
him at the position that is gonna help them win best which is down low. It would be different at Kentucky where cal would work with him and play him at the position that will make him harder to guard at the pro
level which would be the four and the three. College coachs tend to not pit guys with good open court handles at the three if they are if or tall
