ilike.panochasParticipantIm not that too familiar with him as a basketball prospect, but how good would have been this guy if he choose basketball? The guy had a man’s body at 18 years old (6’6 230lbs), with elite athleticism to match it with. He looks a bit like Xavier Henry but probably not as good a deep shooter as Henry.

goneParticipantCan he shoot?

ilike.panochasParticipantNot sure how good his basketball skills are, thats why was asking because Im not too familiar with him as a basketball prospect, but we all know he is an elite athlete thats for sure. He was a 4 star recruit as a basketball player, so he was a legit basketball prospect.

joecheck88Participantive seen a few videos on him(so this is just an opinion from youtube vids) but he seems like he would have been a 4 year college guy probably playing as an undersized 4 in college. his jumping ability wasnt great, if i were to compare him and this totally my opinion at best pryor could have been a 4 year guy with similar skills to lazar hayward from marquette that was drafted by minny in the late first round.

JNixonParticipantThat Lazar Hayward comparison for Pryor is extremely legit

stanford hoopsScouting reports say he was a very good athlete. Good leaker used to
out work and dunk on people. Good enough handles for the sf but didn’t really have a jump shot. Got recruited by bug east and big ten schools0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/17/2010 - 9:34am #403632

BasterdInABasketParticipantHe absolutely killed that kid in the second video lmao.
Physically he looks similar to xavier henry.
I havent seen much video on him but Idk about the Lazar hayward thing though. Lazar is not that great an athlete…yeah he was in a dunk contest but Ive never seen him drive in and dunk on anyone. Hes more of a stretch four in a 3 man’s body. He didnt develop a jumper till after a couple years at MU but I dont see the comp really0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/17/2010 - 9:56am #403637

WizardofOzParticipantHe was a 4 star recruit via Scout and Rivals.com. I’m not too familiar with him as a basketball prospect either, but this was Scout.com’s player evaluation of him.
Strengths:
Impact Player

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIf he takes the basketball route, that’s a waste of great talent.

GrandmamaParticipantIf he had chosen basketball he would have made a huge mistake, and probably cost himself millions.

WizardofOzParticipantHe was thinking about playing both football and basketball in college, but eventually decided to just stick to football.

HaleParticipantHe was a 5 star recruit on rivals before he decided to just play football. #3 sf, #28 overall.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantDidnt he play C for his HS team?? I mean I played with lots of great athletes at 6’6 and they were never mentioned as prospects because they were centers.. I think that Pryor is a kid that was followed by hype his whole life and because he was known, he got a couple of extra stars tacked onto his status..
0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/17/2010 - 2:53pm #403693

gregoden08ParticipantHow can you even compare him to Hayward? Do you know how good of an athlete Pryor is? LOL…anyways, he probably would have been a really good college player and could make it into the league because of his athleticism and strength. Btw that was a nice move that he had on Favors.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/17/2010 - 3:16pm #403697

JNixonParticipantI swear y’all look for the smallest things to look for when I make comparisons haha. His athleticism wouldn’t have been as magnified on the basketball court as it is on the football field. That’s part of the reason he wouldn’t be as effective as a basketball player as opposed to a football player. He played just like Lazar Hayward did at the same stage, and possibly could’ve enjoyed a career along the same trajectory is the point I was trying to make. My goodness. I understand no 2 players are EXACTLY the same, but to me it’s crazy when you point out a single thing that’s not even far off and completely write off a comparison.

stanford hoops@8th deadly sin….youre not thinking about aau. at his hs team he played center(probably the biggest tallest strongest and most athletic on his team) but in aau he played the three and a lil four. thats the case with most players who are 6’4 and a lil above or below if they play on a team that isnt that good nor has a big man

sc0rebuckets11Participantdidn’t derrick favors drop 40 on him in hs?
seriously tho, i think he went the best route.

Mr. 19134ParticipantPryor would of been a pro in either sport, people forget that he’s listed at 6’6 in football but in basketball you get 1 to 2 inches in basketball depending on your wingspan and Pryor has a 6’11 wingspan therefor he would of most likely been a 6’7 225 lb small forward. Pryor in 2009 ran a 4.33 40 yard dash. That’s fast, very fast, and his quickness and agility is never in question. So what you got is a 6’7 225 lb Small Forward who can handle, rebound, pass, and shoot well withing 17 feet. His weakness was hit outside shot which with repetition would of improved. If he were to play basketball at Ohio State he would be considered a first round pick after his JR year.

joecheck88Participanthe obviously more athletic than hayward, his jumping isnt that great but everything else he is very athletic. he is like hayward to me because he probably would have played the 4 in college like hayward and as a senior could have developed his jumper more and be considered a pick in the 20 to 30 range. he would have progressed in a similar way as hayward to me.

Mr. 19134ParticipantAm i the only person who believes that Pryor would a been a first round talent after a few years of basketball at Ohio State? Reports of him running a 4.33 40 at OSU may not be that far off cuz it was widely considered he ran a 4.40 going into college. Pryor also boasts a 37 inch vertical leap and as high school senior he averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocks, 3 steals. That’s a well rounded box score. He was a 4 star recruit and top 50 ranked player. If he were to focus all his energy to the basketball court instead of being a duel sport star the sky would of been the limit. Pryor was the number one ranked QB in the nation playing football so him playing basketball was nothing more then just his love for the sport, and he probably played the game tentatively making sure he wouldn’t get hurt and screw up his football scholarship.
Pryors game reminds me of Lance Stephenson, a guy who uses his strength to get into the lane. But his overall game reminds me more of John Salmons, a guy with a developing jump shot who could do a little bit of everything but Pryor is easily more athletic then Salmons is. Pryor is a top notch athlete who testes extremely well in combines. But its even evident from watching the videos that he has great length, is quick, and get off the ground relatively easy.
Its not far fetched to think that if he played basketball in his JR. year he would be posting averages of 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1.5 blocks.
