WALTHAM — Two former college stars are in Waltham this week, working out with the Celtics, a source familiar with the team told WEEI.com.

Former North Carolina star Rashad McCants and Gonzaga standout Adam Morrison are in town this week working out for the Celtics. Morrison worked out on Tuesday and had a second session scheduled for Wednesday. The third overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Bobcats, Morrison spent 2½ seasons in Charlotte — missing one season with a knee injury — before being traded to the Lakers, where he played limited minutes while his team won two NBA titles.

McCants starred on the 2005 Tar Heels team that captured the NCAA title and played with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings and was involved with reality TV star Khloe Kardashian before she met and married Lamar Odom.

Yahoo! Sports reported that the Celtics are set to hire Nets assistant Roy Rogers to coach the big men. He would replace Clifford Ray. Rogers briefly played for the Celtics during his three seasons in the NBA in the late 1990s.

Ammo’s problems were injury adding to his already lack of athleticism and diabetic problems concerning teams in a major way and I kno McCants got hurt but once he got healthy does anybody know why he is having trouble sticking with teams, the guy can shoot and play both guard positions, adding to the fact he got tremendous length for his size and is a decent athlete. I think Ammo really has a chance of finding his way on a team I thoughts the Knicks and Raptors would be good fits right now for his skill set.

I don’t think either will get signed, and Mr. 19134 I think your crazy to think Morrison would fit with the Raptors.

    MY BOY ADAM MORRISON! …
In all seriousness, I’m really rooting for him, but I highly doubt he’ll make that roster.
    I hope he does..
I can see the headlines for a paper, more likely to be in small-print.
Boston Signs the Next Larry Bird..or at least that’s what he was projected to be.
I also heard CAT was getting a shot down there, Mobley with that heart condition. I thought he was done..

Why wouldn’t he fit with the Raptors looking at their wings for this coming seasons, its DDR, Kleiza, J. Wright, and Weems, the only one of them who can hit outside shots is Kleiza but I wouldn’t be surprised if in small lineups Bargs played C and Kleiza plays PF. I think Ammo is better then J Wright atleast who still have no perimeter skills and can’t play shooting guard. In fact all of their wings are better at small forward with the exceptions of Weems whom I’m a big fan of because he is so fast.

I thought Morrison at #3 was the stupidest pick ever until the Hawks picked Sheldon Williams at #5. Classic examples of non-athletic players who dominated in college and were scrubs in the NBA.

As for McCants, he used to be my favorite player in UNC. He scored at will in his sophomore year and in his junior year his mother was sick and it effected his play. Still, they won the championship and I thought he would be a pretty good player in the NBA but he wasn’t. Too bad

You forgot Barbosa…Morrison would not fit in on this team. He would be a spot up shooter at best. The wings need to be able to make athletic plays, screens, and cut through the lane. The wings need to be able to create shots and create offence inside of the 3 point line, and penetrate to give Bargnani space to do his thing. Where would he get time anyways with Barbosa, Derozan, Weems, and Klieza. Sure give Klieza some minutes at PF but he is playing the bulk of his time at SF. We have Amir Johnson and Ed Davis expected to get big minutes at PF.
