knicksfan7ParticipantIt’s a 20 player list, and there are guys who obviously won’t be considered for NPOY after half of the season, but if Kevin Jones can lead this team to a top 4 finish in the Big East along with averages of 18-20 ppg and 8-10 rebs per game, I think he will for sure be a 2nd or 3rd team All-American.

Lotto StudParticipantOverall I like your pre-season list, but Kevin Jones stands out to me as a guy who won’t be in the running even though he will have a much improved season from last year. I also believe within due time he will be a 1st rd selection.
On your list I think Irving chances of winning are greater than everyone else on the list because he has the hype surrounding him & I see him putting up monster #’s as a Fr.

JNixonParticipantI personally think this is a top-notch list, I think Klay Thompson has a better chance than Tyler Honeycutt though, even though both are EXTREME long-shots

Mr. 19134ParticipantI Like Your List But I Feel Like Most Of Them Names Although Very Good College Players Don’t Have A Realistic Chance.
Like Dunn really don’t have a better chance at winning it over Jones. Lets be honest.

JoeWolf1Mr. 19134, I couldn’t disagree more with Jones winning it over Dunn. Dunn my not be a big name as far as future NBA’ers go, but the dude is a flat out baller on the college level. The comittee who determines NCAA awards, don’t give a crap about your potential as an NBA player, your projected draft pick or your vert. Jones has a lot of hype, but Dunn is a proven player at an NCAA level. He’s gonna drop 20 ppg next year be the leader of that Baylor team and probably be a 1st or 2nd team All-American. If you expect Jones to burst on the scene al la Durant or Beasley, your going to be very disappointed.

knicksfan7ParticipantPerry Jones has the most upside in the nation, but having the most upside means he has a lot of skills that need a lot of refinement. What Perry Jones did in high school won’t work in the Big 12 he needs to use skills not athleticism, I do think he has enough skills to show flashes of brilliance, but to do anything award worthy on the national scale, he does not. Perry Jones IMO is a 2 year college player, 3 on the long side. If he leaves after 1 year he will have a lot of unfulfilled potential 10 years from now because he did not learn the necessary skills in college to be successful in the NBA.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantSingler might be the preseason choice..
But there are always someone that comes out of nowhere..
I expect Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones to be in the hunt..
Becuz their teams will be expecting so much from them…
if they have their teams in the top 10…0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/10/2010 - 12:36pm #398530

knicksfan7ParticipantI would be surprised if Singler was not the preseason choice. Harrison Barnes will be in the hunt as long as UNC is successful. Perry Jones is not even the best player on his team, so no he will not be in any hunt, that award goes to LaceDarius Dunn. People are getting to hyped on Perry Jones. Yes, Perry Jones is very good, but he is very raw where it will take him 2-3 years to become what people expect out of him, he needs to refine his skills and master them before he starts doing consistent damage.

knicksfan7ParticipantPerry Jones won’t put up the #’s that Lamar Odom and Donte Greene put up in college, and he has more upside than both.

jeff416ParticipantBarton has been cleared, but Selby hasn’t yet. But I think most people expect him to be cleared before the season starts. At worst he misses a game like Wall did a year ago.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI like the list, dislike the rankings.
To be honest, it’s tough for a freshman to win POY. One freshman won it all time: Kevin Durant. With that being said, I think Jacob Pullen, Demitri McCamey, Kalin Lucas, Robbie Hummel should all be moved over all freshman not named Ivring and Barnes

JNixonParticipantSelby got cleared the other day, I remember a post being made about it.
And yeah, LaceDarius Dunn is easily going to be the best player on Baylor next year. He is the probable Big 12 P.O.Y. next year too

knicksfan7ParticipantQuentin, there are no rankings. I just listed the players 1-20. To do rankings is worthless because there are too variables as well as it being subjective.
