TRC1991ParticipantHere is my list of 5 typical sure-fire vets that could see their production slip this season
1) Rip Hamilton, Detroit Pistons
Why? Rip is getting up there in age, and he was injured frequently last year having only played in 46 games. He saw his field goal shooting drop to 40% from his career-average 45% and the addition of T-Mac surely will eat into his minutes. Also, after the last few years of unsuccess in Detroit, it is only a matter of time until He and Prince are sent packing.2) Antawn Jamison, Cleveland Cavaliers
Why? Similar to Hamilton, Jamison is getting up there in age. This year will be his 13th in the league yet he still looks like hes 25 lol. Anyways, he played horribly defensively last year and a very bad Cavaliers team should leave this vet uninspired. Also, expect JJ Hickson to grow tremendously this year and it may be at the expense of Jamison.3) Shawn Marion, Dallas Mavericks
Why? We saw the wheels start to come off last year as he averaged only 12 ppg in 31 mpg. He has career averages of 17 and 9 but those days are a distant memory. Marion will lose a lot of minutes to rookie Dominique Jones this year as the Mavs go with he and Butler on the wings and bring Marion off the bench. Expect a Matt Barnes like season from Shawn (8 and 4)4) Mike Bibby, Atlanta Hawks
Why? Well last year was the worst of his career and this upcoming season will probably assume that role again. He can’t do much anymore aside from hitting the occasional open 3. He can’t play D anymore and his creating off the dribble skills are inexistent. It is simply just a matter of time until Teague takes the reigns and Bibby is relegated to a bench role.5) Rashard Lewis, Orlando Magic
Why? This may be a surprise but Lewis was actually very disappointing last year. He averaged only 4 rpg from his power forward position. I think it is starting to come to coach Van Gundy that he won’t win a championship with Rashard as the starting 4. What I have always thought they should do is move Lewis to the 3 and start Bass at the 4 to get some more size and rebounding in the starting lineup.0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/07/2010 - 10:10am #396335

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI Agree with all the choices expect Jamison…With Lebron gone Cleveland will make him their go 2 player..They’ll try to showcase him for a trade..I expect him to average about 20 points a game..
Marion hasn’t been the same since he was traded from Miami..Most players want admit it be being traded so often can affect a player’s game sometimes as much as getting injured..

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantMany times a player is traded because the team they were with already had noticed a player slipping prior to making the trade.
All of the players mentioned above have already slipped and/or have contracts greater than their individual value .

stanford hoopsIf rip is healthy then I don’t agree. He’s only 32
don’t agree with Antwan as well since he will get alot of touches since bron is gone
I agree with the rest especially bibby. I could see him losing his starting spot. Not because teauge is so good but because bibby has already started that slope downhill late last season

omphalosParticipantI disagree that Jamison will be their first option. They are going to throw Hickson to the fire which means Jamison either plays the 3 or comes off the bench. He’s almost definitely traded sooner rather than later.
