bullsfan121212africans are notoriously skinny. they dont have big thick chest and are overall thin. unlike there inbreed african-american counterparts who were breed to be the biggest and are huge.
lebron james is so much thicker and stronger than deng its not funny
and people who dont believe in inbreeding how come no africans have the same type of body that african americans have. you will never see a lebron james from africa.

mikeyvthedonParticipantIt seems like a majority of players born on that continent seem to rule at defense, so, that is a strange statement. Hakeem Olajuwon, Dikembe Mutombo, Manute Bol among others known for defense more than offense as players (Hakeem actually is one of the only African players known for offensive prowess as well as defensive ability). So, statement makes little sense, or is just a bad joke (most likely the latter). However, while I agree that I have yet to see a player that can guard LeBron, seems like Luol Deng would be one of the better players to do so. LeBron killed them in every game but two in the play-offs, but Luol is a very good player and I recall him having some good matches with LeBron. He is nowhere near his athletic ability, but he is long and he is one of the few players that during the rare game can possibly match him scoring wise. But, as far as guarding LeBron, their may be players better at it than Luol, but I have yet to see an individual player shut him down. Tony Allen had a few great defensive possessions on LeBron in that series this year, but it was definitely a team effort, and I would not exactly say he was shut down in any game other than Game 5. The only person that can stop LeBron seems to be LeBron, and when motivated I do not know who can guard LeBron James. To me, even with his lack of skill set compared to a Kobe Bryant, their is no one harder to guard individually in the game at this point. I would think that LeBron would have a better chance of stopping Kobe than Kobe would of having LeBron, though all in all it takes a team effort to stop both players. But just look at what Dwyane and LeBron have done, even when they have not won series. Both are incredibly hard to defend and take team efforts to beat. That is what it comes down too, because Luol Deng may not stop LeBron, but if Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah step up, Boozer battles with Bosh and most importantly Chicago’s bench providing a huge contribution, than Luol might not have to. That being said, hard to see the Bulls beating the Heat this year.

But you know there are many, many other occasions where posters have made same/similar stupid, stereotypical comments. Perhaps instead of ganging up on said problem (bullsfan121212)… members can help in the process of helping bullsfan121212 understand what was offensive in what he said.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantAs per wikipedia
Deng is a member of the Dinka ethnic group. When he was young, his father Aldo, a member of the Sudanese parliament, moved the family to Egypt to escape the Second Sudanese Civil War. In Egypt, they met former NBA center Manute Bol, another Dinka, who taught Deng’s older brother, Ajou Deng, how to play basketball while also serving as a mentor for Luol himself. When they were granted political asylum, his family emigrated to Brixton, South London.
At the age of 14, Luol moved to the United States to play basketball at Blair Academy in New Jersey.0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/07/2010 - 11:18am #396405

WizardofOzParticipantI’m African-American because I was born and raised in the U.S., but my parents are from Africa so I find what you said OFFENSIVE.
Just because some African players in the NBA aren’t built, doesn’t mean all of them are like that. A lot of African I know and see in real life are built. And when they were growing up, most Africans didn’t play basketball. Most likely, they played a sport like soccer or rugby, and were not conditioned to play basketball, so they haven’t spent much time getting in basketball shape.

billykParticipantInbreeding is when two people who are related (cousin, siblings, parent) have sex and the result is a child that is likley to suffer from recessive genetic traits, born premature and/or die at birth… This process of inbreeding can lead to an off spring with some potentially devasting health problems, so is doesnt make sense to inbreed, if you want to develop bigger stronger slaves…
Inbreeding is something found among European and Egyptian royalty…. Where families would inbreed because they thought it keep their bloodline pure and obviously they were wrong because often times their kids would have issues suchs mental retardation, physical disabilities, and suffer from hemophilia…
The bigger African Americans most likely come from the genetics of the bigger stronger slaves that survived the physical demands of slave work and where able to reproduce, therfore their children inherit their genes.. Also I wouldnt be suprised if slave owner breed their most physically fit female and male slaves (not blood relatives) to in theory make bigger stronger offsrping..

bullsfan121212so your saying thats theres people in africa who have the body size of lebron james and ryan howard and other extreme examples. you cant find africans like that.
and when there was slavery it was def not well known the bad effects of inbreeding. were talking over a hundred years ago. they would take the bigggest slave they have just one guy is needed the biggest. and then he would have sex with every available female slave relative or not
sorry people dont hear about this in the history books but the U S never portrays themselves bad in the history books

mikeyvthedonParticipantI have, and not everyone in Kenya had a runners body. Yes, most players from Africa tend to have a slighter build, but were there any American players like Olajuwon, Mutombo or Bol who looked almost like they were genetically pre disposed to block shots? I mean, DeSagana Diop is no pip squeak? Now, I did not see LeBron James growing on trees, but I also do not see organized sports league when a player is freaking 6. Most of the African players do not have a chance to touch a basketball by the time most young players have been playing for around 6-8 years. The reason? Basketball is not as popular of a game in Africa as in most other places on earth, and soccer still rules. It is a different way of living in Africa, and I do not think organized sporting leagues for pee wee’s is a luxury that most young african children have. So, to say that it has something to do with being from America due to the players you have viewed from Africa on the majority, or just on the basis of Luol Deng, is really narrow minded. I have not seen an athlete like LeBron James from anywhere, but than again I have yet to see an athlete like Hakeem Olajuwon come from the United States. Not even David Robinson had Hakeem’s agility. So, in other words, just quit while you still can.

billykParticipantIm not saying that people in Africa have the physical make up of Lebron James or Ryan Howard.. Lebron James and Ryan Howard are NOT the product of inbreeding in the matter of fact a bigger stronger person IS NOT the result of inbreeding… Did you read what I wrote???
I think inbreeding would be counter productive if you wanted to have the biggest slaves.. In the matter of fact inbreeding would lead to less efficent slaves because they would be more likely to have various diffrent kinds of birth defects.. Even in the 1600’s the effects of inbreeding where well known…
There are many reason (enviormental, social, physiological etc..) why Africans and African Americans have developed diffrently over the last 400 years… Inbreeding is NOT a reason..

JoeWolf1Bullsfan121212 you are pretty ignorant, all Africans are skinny and African Americans are big because they were inbred???
Just because you don’t know any African athletes that aren’t thin doesn’t mean they don’t exist. People who know very little about a subject and dont take the time to learn any more about them often jump to conclusions based on those assumtions do more harm than good most of the time.
This list is for you Bullsfan
Big Sofo 6’9” 345 lbs. from Camaroon
DJ Mbenja 7′ 255lbs. arms like telephone poles, from Congo
DeSagan Diop 7′ 300lbs from Senegal
Christian Okoye 6’1” 260 lbs, former NFL running back from Nigeria
Osi Umenyiora 6’3” 260 lbs, Born in London from Nigerian parents a similar upbringing as Deng, yet for somereason isn’t “African Skinny?!?!?!”
Amobi Okoye 6’2” 292 lbs NFL player born in Nigeria
Luc Mbah a Moute – 6’8” 230 lbs from Camaroon, one of the best perimeter defenders in the East, I’d rather have him on James than the majority of American Born perimeter defenders
Serge Ibaka 6’10” 235 lbs from CongoThese guys are just off the top of my head, I’m sure there are dozens more

paint intruderParticipantMan, you’re beeing racist.
LeBron and other players train their muscles every day.
Maybe Luol Deng thinks, that it might not help his game if he has tree-like arms.
There’s nothing about “inbreeding” and some stereotypes you might have.
It’s about how much a player trains his muscles.0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/08/2010 - 9:40am #396881

MrAnalystMaybe it is because a lot of countries in Africa are not nearly as rich and spoiled as America? There are many places where children are starving for food, instead of getting anything they want on the menu from McDonald’s in America? You ever hear the quote, “Don’t waste that food, there are children who are starving in Africa?” Maybe that has a little bit to do with the being skinny? Not because they weren’t imbred, because that would be a positive not a negative. How could imbreeding be good? You are crazy.
