Almost all of the guys that were on the Redeem Team have said they’re be participating in 2012..
So there will be possibly 2 or 3 spots remaining barring guys pulling out becuz of injuries..Kobe will be almost 34 by then..will he withdraw citing a need to rest? Tayshaun Prince might not be as good a defender as he was in 2008..He might not be on the team..The success of players like Blake Griffin,Kevin Love & Greg Oden might hurt Boozer chances..Love has really impressed alot of people with his instant offense and rebounding..I don’t expect Micheal Redd to be on the team..

Most people say besides Durant & Rose there won’t be any other guys on this year’s team making the 2012 Olympic Team…

The team will need role players that where players on this year’s squad like Love,Westbrook Gordon & Iggy come in..Iggy has done alot of thing that dont show up in box scores.Westbrook pressure defense has been great..Love has surprised alot of people with his rebounding, shooting and hustle..Gordon has been a sparkplug off the bench..So there might be 3 or 4 guys from this year’s team that have chances to play in 2012..

I think they’re 4 Candidates from the past 3 drafts..2 of these guys might make it…

DeMarcus Cousins..Olympic officials aren’t easy to place players with attitudes or bad guy reputation on the teams..But hopefully Cousins will have shown the world how much he has matured by then..

    Greg Oden/Blake Griffin/John Wall…

i think it might be in Greg Odens best interest not to try out for 2012! He’s been so star crossed with injuries he should just be content with keeping his body healthy every year and improving his game for The Blazers

Would you rather have Eric Gordon as a sparkplug? Or Kevin Durant?

^^^ Durant might be a starter on the 2012 team..Gordon might be 1 of the guys in line to take Redd’s place on that team..

Kobe will be almost 34 by then..maybe he’l say he needs the rest..Micheal Redd wont be on the team..that opens a spot for maybe Gordon or John Wall..who despite there being so many talented guards vying for a spot…he can not be overlooked…

2012 Olympic Team: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudamire, Blake Griffin, and…Stephen Curry? Eric Gordon? John Wall? Cousins?

    PG: Chris Paul/Deron Williams/Derrick Rose
    SG: Dwayne Wade
    SF: LeBron James/Kevin Durant
    PF: Carmelo Anthony/Chris Bosh
    C: Dwight Howard/Amare Stoudemire

Those 10 are basically locked in. So you only have 2 spots left. Kobe’s in if he wants to so if the plays that would only leave 1 spot. So the following guys are vying for a maximum 3 spots:

Eric Gordon, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, John Wall, Rudy Gay, Brook Lopez, Rajon Rondo, Russell Westbrook. IMO if I had to choose from this list to say fill 2 spots I’d take Gordon and Gay. As good as Love has been lets be honest with Dho, Stat, and Bosh and LeBron and Melo who can play the 4 he’d never register a minute. I’d like Gordon because he’s proven how effective he can be in FIBA ball and Gay has also shown great versatility in not just scoring but defending the 4 and rebounding. With that said if John Wall becomes an allstar PG within his first two years it will be hard to leave him off even if they do have 3 all world PG’s. I’d probably even list Deron as a 2 guard at this point for FIBA ball.

I wouldn’t really consider him a lock to make the team…..if someone like Cousins or Griffin step it up they could easily make it instead….

That’s what I was getting ready to post… Stoudemire, Wade and Paul have all had knee injuries. It might be best for them to sit it out in 2012. The same goes for Kobe, who hasn’t had a major knee injury, but has a lot of wear and tear.

I think there’ll be more spots available than we think.

I know recently bynum said he wants to play. We will see if he will be healthy enough to do it. Maybe oden will be healthy as well.
I can see Kobe playing if he keeps hearing people say he’s too
    old to play

    my 2012 team

    PG: Deron Williams/Chris Paul/Derrick Rose
SG: Dwayne Wade/Brandon Roy/Eric Gordon or another shooter
    SF: Lebron James/Carmelo Anthony
    PF: Kevin Durant/Blake Griffin
    C: Dwight Howard/Chris Bosh

Now if CP doesn’t play bc of FA, throw in Amare or Cousins or Iggy then Durant can play the 2 guard and Melo moves to the 4 spot. I really think B Roy will get a shot. He’s been hurt the past few summers so he still in the mix plus he can play 3 positions and his coach is an asst n Nate wants him there.

Is Eric Gordon gonna be the 3pt specialist or do you see a newcomer like say a Xavier Henry or Austin Rivers or JJ Redick or Morrow come in and steal the spot?

WizKid… off topic but, LMAO at Mr. Popo! Oooohh, Japanese people and their subtle racism… Looks like a male version of the pokemon Jynx..

Anywho. #1 People are talking about how we can’t assume anything, Blake Griffin hasn’t played a game yet, So I would definitely prefer Kevin Love. He’s a great rebounder, a true post player (something the US lacks) and a phenomenal passer. Or Brook Lopez if he’s available.. I also love Iguodala. he’s an agressive defnder, rebounder, and has the ability to bother the best perimeter player on the other team. What I really wish was their was a PG with really good man to man defense like the Paytons, Kidds and Stocktons.
