This article compares the Pistons roster to the 2010 National Team.
I find it quite humorous. Yes the pistons do have a lot of players that can play the 1-2-3, and players that can play 3-4-5. But come on, the roster on the national team is built like that for a reason. That type of roster excels in international play. And the national team has far superior talent.
I do not think that this is the way for the pistons to reach the recipe for success, considering they haven’t had success in a few years. It is a good idea to get some versatile players. You need at least a legitimate big man. Do the pistons even have 1? Monroe could be. Wallace is still somewhat solid. But the pistons gotta stop throwing money at overvalued contracts( rip, gordon). And they need to figure out the PG position.
What do you all think?0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/29/2010 - 10:32am #389159

HitsterParticipantThe Pistons splashed all their available salary space in 2009 on Ben Gordon to either be their super 6th man or starting SG and Charllie V who is a finesse big man. They drafted a selection of combo forwards in 2009 and took another finesse big in Greg Monroe this year. Greg was the big man with most upside in the draft position where Detroit drafted and hopefully Big Ben will teach him how to become a better defender. Maybe trading down for Cole Aldrich would have been better only because Monroe and Charlie V are perhaps a bit similar.
Joe Dumars must hope that the team improves or his position could come under pressure.
