David Stern fines Minnesota G.M David Kahn for saying Beasley Smoked tooo much

i thought it was kinda dumb he said that. WHat exactly is he trying to accomplish by making that public? It doens help beslaey or the image of the league. If journalist want to print that, then fine But GM’s have to play the pc ground and shouldnt be talking about players personal stuff. Not a big deal by any means since most fans already knew he smoked weed, but really no need to go public with that.

Yea it was very pointless for him to say that statement in public due to the point that the only thing it accomplished was him losing his job, Minnesota is better off without him anyway.

In a year or 2 when the owners try to implement a “hardcap”… Kahn will be looking pretty good with the Wolves stockpile of young talent and no player making over 5 mil. per season. He said his goal was transparency with the fans and media and he’s been all of that and more.

David kahn continues to show how terrible of a GM he is on all different levels. Last week (as im sure many heard) during the kings and twolves summer league game he was comparing darko milicic’s career to chris webber’s, then also saying darko passed as good as vlade and that vlade would tell you that. He also said that darko is a guy that you build a team around and in response to why he traded al jefferson for almost nothing (conditional future picks) he was saying how it was a great opportunity for al jefferson and that he needed that and that he was happy for him. Chris webber says to him that he’s the most generous GM he’s ever known and kahn basically made himself look even more idiotic. Its gotten to the level where he’s showing a lack of basketball knowledge. Comparing those guys to darko, caring more about the player you traded than what youre getting in return for your team. I feel bad for minnesota fans and their city

I don’t see why it was a big deal. He only stated the obvious and something nearly every basketball junkie already knew… That Beasley was a pot head, but has since changed his life. Beasley will tell you himself that he was a pot head. Now, Beasley is ready for a fresh start and should take advantage of it.

This wasn’t harmful or malicious at all in my opinion. Kahn believes in Beasley and is going to give him the chance he never got in Miami.

yeah, but Kahn has to understand how the media is gonna portray it. The headline is not gonna read: "Kahn believes in Beasley and that he can get over his past troubles", it’s gonna read "Kahn says Beasley smoked too much pot" and then the media outlets are gonna run with that and make that hte headline becasue thats what sells and gets people’s attention, and it just doesnt come off good for the league or beasley as a player/role model which true or not, stern wants everyone to think the players are all role models. It just doesnt make sense for kahn to go public with that stuff.

iv never understood many of david khans moves as a gm but now i know that this guy has no qlue what hes doing. he should never hav talked about beasley becuz now in the future if they want to deal beasly other gms will be hesitant. and he should be putting a players personal stuff out there when beasly him self has never talked about him smokng
