In the first trade the cavs will send Delonte West to Minnesotta for Ramon and Kosta, the cavs want another pg to run Scotts system and need a young center, minny wants to get rid some of there pgs and real wants to get rid of Kosta for some reason, in getting West they get a 4.5mil non gaurenteed contract to shed.

The second trade the Cavs would sign Matt Barnes and trade him to Toronto, Toronto would send Calderone to Orlando and Orlando will send Gortat to Cleveland.

This basically rebuilds the Cavs as one of the younger teams in the league and put them in the 6th-8th seed mix.

I don’t think Calderon would be happy to play just 10-15 minutes behind Nelson. Also, losing Calderon to get Barnes doesn’t seem to me a smart move for the Raptors…

dunno why orlando would do that trade since they just signed duhon and you can never have too many bigs. I know gortat wants more minutes so wants out of orlando, but orlando needs more than calderon and his bad contract. Hope the magic don’t do this. plus, dunno why cavs would sign and then trade barnes. This isn’t happening

Gortat will get a chance to start…..Alot of people think he can start and be good, but NOT ME. That guy is a backup C. Can’t score unless he’s set up right at the rim or gets and offensive rebound , isn’t a shooter, and lacks a low-post game. Hope Cleveland doesn’t think they have their C situation fixed, because Gortat doesn’t solve anything really….

if gortat cant score without somebody setting him up than what is howard? he cant shoot, dribble, no post moves at all he only scores on dunks. and those are terrible trades, the only one that would help is gortat to cleveland

What do you look for in a Center? Rebounds, Blocks, Low Post D, Scoring. 3 outta 4 aint bad–especially for the weakest position in the NBA

Gortat will never be a premier starting Center in the league but he will be more than serviceable for a playoff contendor. 14-11-3(blocks) along with playing decent post defense–i’d take him as a starter.

Gortat is never going to get 14 ppg and 11 rpg lol….

    @mrknowitall

Dwight Howard is a good deal better than Gortat. More strong, overpowering on offense, a much better rebounder and shot-blocker than Gortat. Hence, why he started over him and was much more productive. Howard does what Gortat does, yes. But like 3 times better.

Cavs are looking to move forward and and got a good backup pg in Sessions and got Koufus and Gortat to take Z’s place. Cavs now have a better team then they did a few weeks ago and even though I think they won’t make the playoffs this year they will be a more competitive team.
@Jammin-Lemon- to respond to your comment wHere was lebron’s RECRUITING during those 7 years. he has done more recruiting now then his entire years in Cavs Uniform.

The first trade makes sense and is a good trade for the Cavs. It’s been rumored for a few days already.

“The second trade the Cavs would sign Matt Barnes and trade him to Toronto, Toronto would send Calderone to Orlando and Orlando will send Gortat to Cleveland.”

The Cavs cannot do S&T with Matt Barnes. Barnes played for Orlando last year and the only team that can do S&T for Matt Barnes would be the Magic. However, Barnes was only on Magic for 1 year (that’s why he cannot be included in a S&T to the Raptors @ 4mil as rumored earlier). Since Barnes only played for Magic for 1 year, he can only get 2mil in a S&T.

Player cannot be signed by a new team and then be traded immediately. Unless Barnes is willing to take 2mil for the 1st year, I can’t imagine this deal can get done.

Dalembert’s not able to do much more than what Gortat is able to do, yet he’s been a starter for years. Gortat wants to play more. Backing up Howard sometimes he plays nothing more than 8-10 minutes. I think he’s able to give 20-25 good minutes in average teams, even without scoring a lot…

The Magic have told backup center Marcin Gortat that they “won’t hesitate” to add him to a trade that would bring back a “big star.”
Gortat is a coveted big man and the Magic aren’t afraid to be aggressive during the offseason, so a change of teams isn’t far-fetched. He is working on his shot in order to play more PF alongside Dwight Howard, but would have a great chance to start at center for most teams in the league.

6-8th I don’t see it they have no scoring outside of 34 yr old Jamison and Mo Williams.
Gortat is a defensive Center he rebs, blocks shots.
If the Cavs run they will get some fastbreak pts but in the half court Varajeo, Moon, Parker weren’t that good offensively with Lebron now they’ll be worse.

If Jamison moves to SF than that will make up some for the loss of scoring with Lebron gone.
Hickson could play PF but he’s not much of a scorer can’t hit jump shots and same goes for Varajeo.
If Leon Powe comes back he can score some in the post but he’s not a starter really.
After those 2 moves trade this would be their lineup

    Mo Williams/Sessions/Gibson/Telfair
    Parker/Jawad Williams
    Jamison/Moon
    Hickson/Varajeo/Powe
    Gortat/Koufas

Need to trade some of those PG’s for shooters and youth.
    Parker and Jamison are old.

Why did Orlando let Gortat go? he had a nice season… OH WAIT!! They have the perfect back-up center in Orton. Not a problem.

    Gortat a 14 – 11 with 3 blocks haha. I mean he’s a good center and a solid back-up. But don’t overrate him.

And although DH12:” cant shoot, dribble, no post moves at all he only scores on dunks.” He still gets 20ppg with the best FG% in the league, while being by far the most dominant defensive presense.

you guys are sleeping on gortat. He can get 14-11 with cleavland. They will probably give him 30-35 minutes and he finishes solid when he is set up and will get some put backs. On a shitty team like cleaveland, thats enough to get 14 points. Hes not a top 10 center by anyu means, but he is defenitely capable of being a solid starter.

This trade could happen if the cavs sign him as an unrestricted free agent, thus freeing up a little cap room for orlando, getting rid of gortats contract thats worth $6.3 mill and taking back joses $9 mill, the only tiny flaw I see is that orlando may have to pay some of the luxury tax, other than that this trade is possible but I don’t know how much truth there is about it because I can’t find any info on it

If Gortat was given 30-35 minutes, he could score 14-15 ppg in that Cleveland system just based off of trash, clean-up buckets. He’s a very strong inside rebounder, especially on the offensive boards. I don’t see how some of you guys are dumping on him, obviously you didn’t watch many Orlando games.

Either way, these deals are not happening, this kid doesn’t even have a source. Calderon to Orlando? why in the H-E double hockey sticks would the Magic do that. They just signed Duhon and still have Nelson starting…makes no sense…

How is 14-11 such a reach?

In ’08 he started 3 games for Orlando and in 33 minutes he had 10 points, 12 rebounds a game in those 3 games.

As Perez said, he will be able to pick up second chance points and garbage buckets–and in 30-35 minutes with his size could average about 14 a game

Marcin Gortat is incapable of averaging 14 ppg…I’ve the Magic and him play. He’s not good enough to score that much, or to see 30 mpg for even a rebuilding team like Cleveland. The guy cannot score unless set up right at the rim for an open dunk or unless he gets an offensive rebound right around the rim…At best he’s a 8 ppg scorer if he’s a starter.

If he goes to Cleveland next season, I think his numbers will look like this: 7 ppg, 7 rpg, and 1 bpg.

The first trade can happen. The second can’t. First off the Magic would get rid of Gortat and his $6 mil contract and receive Calderon’s $9 mil contract and my Magic are already way over the cap. Second, the Magic signed Duhon and are looking to get a 3rd string PG. Duhon is not a scrub neither is Calderon. The Magic would probably want to send Pietrus in exchange for like Sonny Weems or something to save some money. That would never happen but I’m just throwing out an example. Plus Orlando doesn’t want to get rid of Gortat because Daniel Orton, sucks unless they want to play Bass as their backup center.

Cavs has the MLE to sign Barnes, but they cannot sign and trade Barnes as they don’t have the right. If they sign Barnes now, they can only trade him after December 15 (1st day offseason new player can be traded).

Unless the Cavs have the plan to make that 3 way trade on DECEMBER 15 already, the only way the trade would work is if Barnes is willing to take 2mil from Magic and complete the S&T.

Also, as RIP MANUTE pointed out, it does not make any basketball sense for the Magic to be involved. They would not want Calderon to be a 9mil backup while losing the depth on the front court. Orton already proved that he’s at least years away from contributing.

you are sleeping on him big time iggy. He has got about 4ppg in 13 minutes each of the last 2 years playing on a stacked title contender. bump that up to 30 minutes on a bad team and you say at BEST he is 8ppg? He is very solid center and could start on a few teams in the league and do well.

I don’t disagree that he will be a solid starting Center

But I never saw his offensive game when he played that made me say ” I see offensive potential”. He similar to Brendan Haywood. I think he will average around 8-11 and get tons of rebounds.

I doubt the second trade happens but Gortat scoring 14 to 15 as a starter is not far fetched. Dude has size, athleticism and he is decent rebounder. Also Byron Scott will probably play at a quicker pace than Mike Brown and Gortat can run and get a lot of easy shots. I honestly don’t get how some of you come out up with your numbers.

An athletic big man and he will be only get 8 points for Cleveland when they don’t really have anyone else outside of Hickson to score in the post. Jamison is more on the perimeter these days.

yeah, maybe 14 is a little high. If he got 30 minutes next year, i would guess about 12ppg and 11rpg. But he is a physical presence and will get cleanup baskets so its not like im saying he would be a go to guy or anything.

He’s more like a Chris Paul-less Tyson Chandler than anything to me…..And I’m not sure you want that as a starting C lol. He’s not close to a 14 ppg scorer though. If he does that, then I wouldn’t know what to say.

Iggy, that’s just ridiculous, if you watched the Magic play, which watching ONLY the playoff games doesn’t show you much, you would see he could be an efficient starter. Nothing outrageous. But at worst, if you give him 30 minutes, he would get you 12-10 every night.

    K. Perkins did the same exact thing your talking about, scoring DIRECTLY under the basket and getting clean up buckets and he averaged 10-8 as the fifth or sixth option.

Kendrick Perkins has 4 All-Star players around him and Rondo getting him looks at the rim for his 10 points….Put Perkins on the Cavs and he’s getting the same stat line Gortat will get according to me:

    7 ppg, 7 rpg, 1 bpg.

^^^ That’s a little bit of a stretch, Okafor can be a beast sometimes. Not offensively a beast, but he’s been known to be a monster on the boards. Completely different styles of play IMO. I’d say a more athletic Haywood or Perkins, which isn’t bad, he doesn’t have to be a 20-10 guy, as long as he’s a serviceable Big, then that’s all a team would need from him.

Gortats is talented but the few times this year I have seen him play he played like he did not want to be there and look pretty back but the previous season, he looked very good and looked like a guy that could start for some teams.

I think you have to not just look at what Gortat can do but the opportunity. If you are a big man and getting decent touches, you should score at least 14 points. Haywood does not tend to get touches on offense, same with Perkins. The big game these players have had they got a lot of touches. Mo Williams is decent enough passer to get Gortat some nice looks. I can’t say he would average 10 or more boards but 14 point does not seem far fetched. It depends on touches. I have seen him make12 foot jumpers and put up that crazy looking hook shot of his. He seems to shoot a decent percentage on a small amount of shots.

Gortat has more of a offensive game than Chandler who at one point i think was averaging 12 to 14 points and never had a play ran for him.

Gortat is solid. He’s no star, but aside from scoring ability he has all the pieces to be a good starting center. I could see him going for 10 and 8, plus he has some shot blocking ability as well. It’s crazy to say that he isn’t a starter considering the lack of talented big men in the league.

It’s not a your right, your wrong thing.

Gortat would be the 5th scoring option in Boston. The 5th option is Perkins. Perkins doesn’t average 15-11 per game. We only seen sample sizes of Gortat so how is it ideal to believe that he would post better number in Boston?
