SDEParticipantReal talk im tired of all the lebron posts.
From Harold Minor to Lebron James everyone who come to the NBA will always compared on some level with MJ. Many have failed Hill,Penny, etc. Now everyone say lebron has fail because of his choice and people say Kobe will never catch or surpass Jordan no matter what he do and Kobe is great.
First you have to be dominant , play lock-down D, win chips in one city, Mvp’s from all-star games to the finals, Mvp for the league, Mvp on defense, gold medals, influence the NBA after you gone, sell a Sh#t load of sneakers and clothes, have your own brand, make a company more than what it was (nike), have people not wanting to wear your number (lebron) Hell they even wanted to change the NBA symbol to the Jumpman symbol, then own team and make bad draft picks then get a new team to own, have no one question your name with greatest of all time, have all-time greats say you the best (magic and Larry barkley), 3 peat then leave and come back with a 3 peat have the best record of all time for a team (72-10), be the best sports figure of all time.
That’s a lot to live up to i don’t think nobody will ever come close to this not Lebron or anyone else ; Kobe had a small shot but he’s to old now
So let Lebron live he really never had a shot

SubZeroParticipantWhat more can Kobe do? I think he’s pretty close

omphalosParticipantHonestly, if the Heat gel properly/get the right role players and Kobe defeats them to complete his second three-peat he might have a case. That would be a huge achievement and balance out the ease with which the Magic were defeated. But, the Finals MVPs he didn’t win will haunt him, and you can’t ignore Jordan’s perfect record in NBA Finals or 6 straight Finals wins after full seasons. Career PPG average is also a factor. Kobe and Magic are the only two individuals worth mentioning in the same breath as Jordan in terms of skill, talent and success.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantJordan did it without hand check rule.

cap777ParticipantYou can use that same excuse to give Kobe credit for defense. Michael played lock down D but he was allowed to get more physical than Kobe is. If Kobe scratches someone its a foul nowadays.

duhrant35ParticipantYou could also say that MJ was the only player in the league when he played that had hand checks called on him but when he was on D they were never called. There is a reason that KG said about Kevin Durant “they’re officiating him like he’s michael F****** jordan.” He got an insane number of calls!
