OhCanada-ParticipantI dont know what to make of the Raptors trade other than the fact that Im happy they cleared space. The trade is a reported 4 team deal where Toronto trades Hedo Turkoglu to Phoenix for Dwayne Jones and Leandro Barbosa, and sends Dwayne Jones and their TE for Boris DIaw.
I kept looking in different sites and it is also rumoured soon a Calderon for Chandler swap will be confirmed as well. IDK why take on Diaw when you can most likely get something alot better at SF with a 15 MIL TE, unless they are getting young players or future value with it, or if the goal is to dump Calderon’s contract.
If the Calderon rumour is true I think BC did a great job putting a fun product on the floor while dumping 2 horrendus contracts.Chandler’s contract is 1yr12.75MIL, Diaw’s is 2yr18MIL, Barbosa’s is 2yr14.7MIL compared to Turkoglu’s 4yr44MIL and Calderon’s 3yr30MIL.
Also the only players signed past the new CBA would be Bargnani at 10 MIL yearly until 2015 and Jack 5 MIL yearly until 2013 which puts Toronto in a great position moving forward.

OhCanada-ParticipantI think Toronto should release Reggie Evans and add Joey Dorsey since he is younger and can grow with this team.Dorsey is also much more athletic and much less paid.
PG-Jack,Barbosa,Banks
SG-Derozan,Weems,Bellinelli
SF-Diaw,Klieza
PF-Bargnani,Davis,Evans
C-Chandler,Johnson,AlabiScoring should not be any kind of problem for this team and if they manage to play some defence this team could win 35 games…perfect…
Should be the most “entertaining basketball team” in the league next year other than Miami.

torontoraptors10ParticipantThat’s a decent lineup if you ask me. I think Colangelo is doing a great job since Bosh has left. If he can get Tyson Chandler, he can rebound all he wants and let Bargnani do his own thing and Chandler can draw a lot of double teams and let Bargnani have some space to score. I can see Bargnani averaging over 20ppg this year.
Diaw and Kleiza are similar players in my opinion. Big enough to play PFs but they have their inside outside game.
The Turkoglu trade will work magic for the Raptors! We are honestly going to have an athletic lineup and we will be fun to watch.
Btw, OhCanada you have Evans in your line up as opposed to Dorsey.

R-Dot-13ParticipantTBH I dont see Diaw starting over Weems at SF
But thats it, i agree that the raps are going to have a pretty athletic team next year..
and i like the team even more if we pick up Chandler for Jose.Barbosa, Diaw, Kleiza, Davis and Johnson would make a good bench that could score some points.
If we can play some defense we could be a better team than I expected them to be

TRC1991ParticipantToronto’s moving in the right direction while Phoenix is moving in the wrong direction…adding turkoglu is just a miserable decision

Toronto16ParticipantI agree with Rdot, I think with this trade the Raptors are going to go ahead and start Weems.
Line up so far,
C: Chandler, Alabi, Dorsey
PF: Bargnani, Johnson, Davis, Evans
SF: Weems, Diaw
SG: Derozan, Barbosa, Bellinelli
PG: Jack, BanksWe need an upgrade at PG IMO, but not a bad team. Should squeeze out 30-35 wins.

thparadoxParticipantSo there are 2 possibilities here:
1) We added Diaw for NO reason. This is just boneheaded… another mediocre player on our roster is totally unnecessary. It’s MUCH better to have free cap space.
2) We added Diaw AND Chandler for Calderon. This makes sense, since Chandler is expiring at the end of the year we can clear a lot of space.
However, I think Calderon is underrated at this point. His defence is always going to be bad, but he’s MUCH better on offense than people give him credit for. He’s an excellent shooter and controller of the ball. He’s a pure PG who doesn’t overextend himself.
Overall, overpaying for Amir was pretty stupid (he wasn’t expecting more than 5M per year), and adding Kleiza is USELESS.
Why aren’t the raptors tanking for a top 3 pick? Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones, Enes Kanter, etc….. Being a .400 team makes NO sense.

mrknowitall313Participantthese are good trades, except for the diaw one, but it doesn’t make them any better. exactly it makes them worse because now they dont really have a playmaker. what makes them good trades are the fact that they dump turk and caledron’s contracts. the pick up of chandler’s is good because he will come off the books at the end of the yr. stupid trade to get diaw. he had one good yr. got paid and started declining ever since. lol at the second most entertaining team.

McWinningParticipantDiaw is a good player better player thanm Turkoglo, a year ago he had a 15 5 5 season with the Bobcats hes not one hit wonder, he gives you EVERYTHING good defender too, hes better than Weem but you could use him as a sixth man, he can play four, maybe five positions.
great trade for the Raptors, they get two very good players, i think Barbosa will explode with them.
Bargnani
Diaw
Derozan
Bellinelli
Barbosasomething like that, they could have a LOT of different starting lineups, very versatile team now.

McWinningParticipant@mrknowitall313
Diaw is a playmaker.

Bison 49ParticipantAccording to rotoworld, the cats took Evans as well as Calderon. Now the deal looks that much better. Just need Jack to take it to the next level.

FDAPOI have no idea why they would be the most entertaining team other than Miami….
Maybe to Toronto fans…
Just to let you know, when your star players are Derozan and Bargnani there are A LOT of more exciting teams. Sorry but the Raptors look to be the most boring team in the league to be honest. At least Cleveland will be entertaining because I don’t like them.

kaceyParticipantChandler still needs to pass that physical. We all remember how that went in OKC.

R-Dot-13ParticipantJack is a very good pg, if he gets a good amount of minutes, i think he can put up 13-16 ppg and 7-9 apg next year
Derozan and Weems will hopefully step up next year and put up good numbers
I think Weems has the ability to be a 17-18ppg guy if he gets enough shots. He can also rebound and defend well.
DD can probably score 14-15 ppg and get some reboundsBargnani will likely score as much as Weems, because he’ll get a lot of shots, but im still not sure he has the ability to be “the guy” He better get some boards and play some D next year..
Chandler is an athletic big man that will get boards and play some d
Our bench should be good, as Barbosa, Diaw, Kleisa can all score, and Davis could help out there
Johnson brings energy and Banks could be OK
We could probably use a better backup PG, but we coud have a pretty solid team next year, maybe try for the 8th seed?
Probably not, but I woudnt mind a top 8 pick either0 - AuthorPosts
