Ebanks had 24 points and character had 17 points and 12 rebounds. These two will be great with Kobe tapping Ebanks potiential along with Ron Artest and Character has two big men in Pau and Bynum. These two will crack the rotation by the middle half of the season

I love the pick, i go to wvu,ive meet ebanks a couple of times, i think he is gonna be a real nice player in this league hes not a 1st or 2nd option but he could be a great 3rd option, i really am excited to see how he matures as a basketball player under kobe & artest’s wing.

I’m glad we picked them I think ebanks will reach his that potential that everyone was talking bout when he was heading to West Virgina with kobe mentoring him. Character always could play he was the reason he didnt get drafted high from weight problems and immaturity but im gald they both felled right in the lakers lap.

How is Kobe gonna tap Ebanks’ potential?

Also, I’m interested to see how both of them potential get into the rotation. Character can be the 2nd big alongside Odom off the bench. Ebanks is confusing right now. Maybe the 3rd SF? I think he could be the backup for Kobe and if Fisher leaves, The Lakers can try to move Sasha.

I can remember when Trevor Ariza, who always had the talent wasnt that good a player before coming to the Lakers, after playing along Kobe it gave him a nice contract with the Rockets. Maybe Kobe can do the same for Ebanks who is some what similar to Ariza.

Both of these guys were projected to go in the lottery when they came out of high school but they both fell for numerous reasons. I would be really happy if I was the Lakers. They got two steals late on the 2nd round.

That’s why I don’t go by hs rankings. Bj mullins was projected number one at one point and Deandre Jordan top ten

Thats the problem with HS rankings sometimes, they only play against a person who can really guard them once out of 5 games usually, so obviously their stats will be loaded.

Phil Jackson doesn’t play rookies. It isn’t an overstatement. In all his years, the only rookies to ever play 20 MPG were Toni Kukoc and Stacey King. This is a team going for a three-pear, rookies aren’t playing much. Look, I learned my lesson when people misconstrued me when I said Harangody wasn’t going to play. Let me make this clear, I loved the Lakers draft. I think Ebanks is a better prospect than Aminu. I think Caracter is the second best post player in the rookie class. They aren’t getting minutes. At best, at very best, if Phil Jackson thinks as highly of those two as I do, he might play 12 minutes a game. This is the history of Phil Jackson and the history of big market contending teams.

He never had any good rookies to play. Lakers and bulls always pick second round or trade away there first round picks. I can remember the last time he had second round picks this good. So yea he doesn’t play rookies in the past because none were good enough in the past and his teams have always been deeper with vets. There’s a reason these picks haven’t been traded even though there have been many offers.

i agree with both teams, phil never plays rookies. But if walton is injured/ineffective, then ebanks might not give him any choice. Good players earn minutes regardless and right now, ebanks epsecially looks like a flat out steal. Caracter is kinda even with josh powell right now in my book.

Caracter is easily more of a banger then Powell. He also has a jumper. I’ll give Powell the edge only cuz of experience. And when’s the last time Phil has even had second round rookies hat were good? Or even rookies period. We always trade them. Farmar was the last I remember and he got some good minutes and even a start or 2 on a good team. So it’s easy to not play rookies if you don’t have them or if you’re team is deep which we are not

Yeah, the Lakers are getting old and rookies are very inexperienced, but the Lakers need youth coming off the bench. They’ve had that, but it wasn’t dependable at all. Farmar obviously doesn’t fit in their system and Vujacic is a sporadic shooter. Since they’re probably going to face the Heat in the finals next year, they need to preserve their starters as much as they can throughout the season. If Ebanks and Caracter keep working hard, they should at least be able to play extra mins against the scrub teams.

I can’t see Ebanks or Caracter getting too many minutes, unless someone gets injured or during blowouts, but I feel they’ll both be ready when called upon. I just can’t see Phil having two rookies in the regular rotation.

Ebanks took everything the D gave him, and made deep jumpers. I thought Ebanks would develop a 3-point shot down the road, but he has been showing a nice shooting touch in these 2 games already. He takes what the D gives him, shows better handles than he did at WVU, and he finishes well at the rim. He’s also a good passer. His passing and finishing ability are the ONLY things I thought would project seamlessly to the NBA at this point of his career. He could be the 2nd SF off the bench for LA. It seems like he can do everything Walton can (some things better), except he’s a slightly worse passer.

Caracter shows the ability to face up and score and he has impressive touch and hands at the rim. He played better D yesterday than the day before, but he stills needs to improve. I like that he’s lost weight, it has allowed him to gain athleticism and play quicker. He also is a VERY nice passer, something that he never showed in college. If he can stay at 270-275 like he seems to be now, he’ll be at ideal size and will be most effective.

Both of these guys are great fits for the triangle.

I can see both getting 10-15 min a game
