Malik-UniversalParticipantpersonally, i believe they are different levels of how a player is placed in regards to how good he/she is…
-mediocre
-average
-good
-very good
-great
-elitenow i do think there are differences between superstars and a star player. a star player is a joe johnson, a superstar is kobe, a lebron, a wade. joe johnson is a great player however, but not a superstar. johnson to me is not a guy you can have as a first option on a championship team, he isnt a guy where theres 6 mintues left in the game and u can just keep giving the ball to him. maybe some nights, but he wont bury a team like a kobe or wade can. rip hamilton is a very good player, but nothing great. raymond felton is good, but not near great. another parker is an average player, and kwame brown…… is kwame brown. these are just examples of where guys can be placed on my scale
agree or disagree?

wd40rocksParticipantYou need some more levels below medicore..
if you don’t add them I’ll have no way to rate Iowa State’s basketball team this year

JoeWolf1But if Kwame Brown is mediocre or poor overall, what is he without his post defense? I think he is a good or very good low post defender, so does that raise him to a average or a good player because of that? He has also had a 10 year career, does longevity play a part? A lot of guys are out of the league after 3 or 4, I think longevity should play a part too. I’m not Kwame Brown’s agent or #1 fan, but to accurately rate a player, I think you have to analyze different parts of his/her game. I hear what you are saying, but for that to be accurate I think you need a system as to how you catagorize each players rather than, general groupings.

wd40rocksParticipantYou should really work luke jackson into the lowest level, maybe have one with solomon jones.
Then you need one level above elite for John Bryant

JoeWolf1Here’s a question though, how would you rate Manute Bol?? His career point and rebound numbers are 2.6 and 4.2 but he is 2nd on the all-time shot blocking list in the history of the NBA. He was extremely one dimensional and an overall below average player, but he was an elite shot blocker. Is he average because of that or still mediocre with an *

Malik-UniversalParticipanti would say my lowest rank, mediocore
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/09/2010 - 10:33am #350463

JoeWolf1But he has more blocks than Olajuwon, Robinson, Shaq, Duncan, Ewing, Mutombo, Camby, Wallace and everyone except Mark Eaton, he changed games by being in the paint, and he hit 6 3’s in a game, lol. I’m not trying to give you crap, I just want to know how you place players in your system other than a general hunch.
Bam 2,000th post!

Malik-UniversalParticipantdont matter to me man lol, his overall career…. not to good imo. 6 3’s sound good and all, and blocks, if luke jackson averaged 4 charges per game does that put him in a good kind of level, well of course not, cuz his overall game blows. bol was a great shot blocker though.

billykParticipantThe Heat would love a Manute Bol in his prime… Manute can anchor a defense..
