GreenLanternParticipantAnd it’s not even close. This guy could be better than Cousins. Yeah that’s right. Kanter has some of the best hands for his size than any center the past couple years. He’s not explosive but he is SUPER agile to be that big. His quickness is average but more importantly his motor is at a pro level already. That’s really the key to predicting pro success, and most people overlook that and just look at talent and character. His motor isn’t as high on defense as it is on offense, but that’s normal for teenage prospects. But it’s clear this guy WANTS to dominate and with that motor and skill set, his work ethic has to be good enough to get there. Anybody disagree?

Whats His Perimeter Game Like ?0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 8:33am #343675
KU PRIDE14ParticipantI have him going #2 overall, I honest don’t see anyone beating out Harrison Barnes from North Carolina

juves4783Participantharrison barnes is going number 1. he’s a can’t miss prospect that many compare to kobe. he put up just as good numbers in the nike summit game and his team won. on top of that, it seems he has a really good head on his shoulders.

RICO 1981Participantyup, Harrison Barnes is the best prospect hands down, then the kid from b-more Josh Selby. Perry Jones is the only one that can take the number one spot from Barnes, that’s if he lives up to the hype.

TRC1991Participantwe can assume all we want but we won’t have a good grasp on where guys will end up until they start playing
for instance none of us knew about darington hobson at this time last year

ilmagoParticipantpossible lockout implications.
I am not even sure that all those guys will come out or leave Europe if they do not reach an agreement on the contracts.0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 10:48am #343749
meisi4Participanti think this is a bit too early to say right?
kanter is a great player but i say lets first see how all of those guys play next year before making someone clear cut top pick…every year some players are first rated top 5 and then drop like ed davis was supposed to challenge wall as the top pick. and i think many would have udoh going undrafted a year ago.
just wanna say some guys stay, some drop, some rise, you just never know…

GrandmamaParticipantKanter hasn’t played one college game and you think he’s “clearly” the number one pick? Come on, Harrison Barnes right now is clearly the numer one pick. It would take a lot to overcome Barnes this year. Think about how skilled Barnes is right now, he’s only been playing on the wing for a few years. Up until his sophomore year he played PF, this shows how advanced he’s become in such a short period of time. It also tells us he still has room to improve, scary. If he isn’t already, Barnes is becoming one of those “can’t miss” prospects.

MBRHParticipantUncle Bucksh0t barnes has not played a single college game yet either, alot can change over a year but I love barnes’s game

stanford hoopsyeah i cant understand how you can saw he’s clearly number one just from watching him play one allstar game in which he was being checked by a pf. lets see how he does against older/better players in college before jumping on the bandwagon

morgatilParticipantEvery scout says Barnes is great but he has no killer instinct….. I am on board if he gets that next year, but Kanter wants to KILL.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 11:16am #343763
stanford hoopsfrom the games ive seen barnes has shown enough killer instinct to dominate when he plays. the same scouts also have barnes as the number one pick for next year. i doubt anyone on here knows what enis is gonna do seeing as everyone is just going by ONE allstar game. alot of prospects have dominated ONE game. lets calm down till we see what he can do for a season….i mean really some of ya’ll just jump from one bandwagon to the next without seeing more then highlight clips( ie perry jones you tube clips)

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI like Kanter’s game ( going off past euro games) He looked really good and last season I said he was going to be a high draft pick. I think the #1 pick is to high. I see at best the #3 pick.
I don’t know why but I feel Perry Jones will be the number 1 pick next season. He’s going to Baylor where he could dominate with a somewhat average roster. I would not be shocked if Jones puts up Kevin Durant type numbers. I know he’s lazy but he could play very well and still coast on some games.
Harrison Barnes will be 1 or 2. He’s a stud. When I was scouting him, he had it all except the killer gene. He seemed like he didn’t wanna take a risk and played it safe. He always made the predictable move. He’s a future superstar in my eyes but don’t be surprised if his stats are not as high with the talent coming with him and the talent already there.

stanford hoopsi would be very very very suprised if perry put up durant numbers. he couldnt even dominate highschool. he had zero dominate games and a couple of single scoring and single rebounbd games. he just doesnt have the go hard in him. i actually have it at zero percent chance that he comes close to durant numbers and actually see him getting benched a couple times like deandre jordan because of his coasting and laziness
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 11:32am #343773

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantTo each is own man, I just think Jones has the tools to dominate. We will see.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 11:37am #343778
stanford hoopsyoure right he does have the tools to be good. but the tools without that drive equals living on potential. like deandre jordan. i cant even think of a player that couldnt dominate highschool games who dominated college where the comp is wayyyyyyyy more better. i think people get caught up in the glamor or a tall guy who can jump and handle the ball in a full court setting. they forget about the player not havinbg that drive or they didnt watch the games he played in on espn ( he has trouble handling the ball in half court sets and gets killed on defense by smart basketball players. basically most are on his bandwagon because of youtube. and the athletic ability. his game is alot like josh smith then tracy mcgrady minus the drive

SDEParticipantAll depend on who need what . I saw kanter play he physical and bangs down low. Plus bigs and pgs get pick first. I say a PG first Joesph,Knight,Irving one of those three then P.Jones ,Kanter Barnes 4th. The draft class with Gilchrist, Q.Miller, Rivers,Teague, and Nash will be better
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 12:43pm #343820
PaulsJayhawksParticipantDepending on their 1st year, I think Jones (PF) Kanter(C) Selby (pg) Barnes(Wing) will be 1,2,3,4 and will go depending on team needs.

arc1212Participantif i had to chose right now, barnes will probably be number 1
the kid has lived up to everything expected and he can do it all
kanter is a great prospect, and played very well the international vs us game but right now it’s barnes
not saying kanter couldn’t do it because i think it’s possible
there’s also brandon knight, selby, perry jones, sullinger, and MANY more
there’s no clear lock in that class…everyone’s different but very good0- Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 12:52pm #343829
PaulsJayhawksParticipantThis could be the best draft since the lebron, wade bosh etc etc

SDEParticipantplus when was the last time a SF went number 1. Lebron James was a PG/SG coming out. A PG or C will go first. Not even Durant went first Oden trumped him. And its no way Barnes is on Durant level to even go first.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 1:03pm #343839
stanford hoopsthat doesnt mean much. each year is different. its rare a pg goes number one but wall did just that.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/29/2010 - 1:12pm #343846
stanford hoopsEnes Kanter is big, that’s for sure. There were just a few incoming freshmen at the camps. One was Harrison Barnes; for more, read here. Another was Ohio State recruit Jared Sullinger (for more, check back Tuesday). Perhaps the most mysterious of any of the newcomers was Kentucky recruit Enes Kanter, who should start immediately for a Wildcat team that lost five players to the first round of the NBA draft Thursday night.
So can Kanter play? (Canter-he play? Sorry.) At the risk of making too much of a small sample size, yeah, he can, but he also needs work. Kanter noticeably struggled against some of the more experienced big men in his 5-on-5 work Saturday. His fundamentals around the basket are a bit unpolished, and he didn’t attack the basket in the same way as, say, DeMarcus Cousins. But while Kanter lacks Cousins’ intuitive talent, he is likewise a big, strong guy, with an impressively muscular frame. He won’t set the world on fire — or maybe he will; again, sample size — but he should be fine.
write up from espn at the durant/paul p skills camp

JNixonParticipantHarrison Barnes will have something to say about Kanter being the 1st pick. Barnes is going to be the closest thing to Kobe as there has been. He literally is outstanding at every aspect of basketball. The only way he doesn’t go 1st is if scouts get too caught up in a guys physical and athletic abilities and pass him up. And he’ll prove them wrong when that happens. It’s more important to me how you play AFTER you get drafted than making a prediction about where a guy gets picked.
