SwatLakeCityParticipantMost of know that it is very likely that Booz will be wearing a different uniform next season. Utah does get first crack at him and they are wiling to break the luxury tax to resign him. Utah is meeting to negotiate a deal late Wednesday night. Of course this deal can’t be signed until July 8th but we still have the first crack at him.
I think there are 3 possible destinations for Booz to land, lets discuss them.
Miami,
Booz loves Miami, Him and Dwade are great friends and this would be quite a combo. Miami would get that punch inside they have always wanted. Like I said Utah has first crack at Booz. So that being said it is very likely that Booz will either be resign by Utah or a sign and trade happens. Heat fans, I know last year you wanted to offer Haslem and some other guy for Booz, and Utah said no because they wanted value for Booz, well guess what Utah will ask the same price this year. No Haslem for Booz, not in a million years. So the question is are you willing to part with Beasley, I would think so because with Miami wanting to sign Bosh, Amare or Booz, it looks as though Beasley’s days are over. Utah fans, Beasley may have alot of potential,(Draftexpress says his best comparison is Amare meeting Jamison!!) but he has not reached it yet. Will he reach it with Sloan at the helm, who knows. He would certainly get his touches as we all know Dwill is a pass first point guard, so that is not the issue. The issue is would he produce and bring the punch that we already have with Booz but could very possibly loose this offseason. (Millsap is good but he is no Boozer and he does not provide the same punch as Boozer does. He plays more D., but that comes with a cost, the cost being not much punch.) So do you want Beasley? Would you be willing to risk the possibility of him not producing like Booz can, or do want Lee from the Knicks instead.Knicks,
New York is certainly willing to part with Lee, as the only young player on their roster is Gallo. Lee warrants a big contract, which could possibly be as big as Booz’s is (12-13 mil) or a little cheaper(10 mil). He will produce as he already has in New York. The downside is he has already reached his potential, and it is not as good as Booz, although he does play more defense than Booz does. Right now I would want to have Lee more than Beasley because of the risk that comes with Beasley. But he might reach his potential in Utah because he would have more touches then he had in Miami. Lee already has and will be consistent for quite awhile, but just not what Beasley could be. Lee is also safer than Booz is, He does not have the ego that Booz does, and who knows about Beasley. But I believe his ego is even worse than Boozer’s is!! Lee or Beasley? There is no chance that Booz goes to Chi-town as they do not have Tyrus Thomas anymore. Deng is a possibility but he would cause problems because he is a 3 and we already have enough 3’s with AK and newly drafted Hayward. I’m not quite sure if AK can make the transition to a 4 and Deng is certainly not a 4, and he has injury problems too. Maybe Noah but this is even less of a possibility because Noah is awesome and Chi-town loves him they would not give him up ever. Not even for Boozer.
Miilsap+ backup 4 from a Koufos Trade,
This is also a possibility if for some reason Booz does not end up getting resigned or no sign and trade happens. I have looked at a few possible backups (Hansrough, Haslem, Gooden, Hill, and Arthur) I have determined that Arthur is the best back up we could have to Millsap. I am not willing to have Koufos as a back up. He is a softie, worse than Ostertag, I want him gone. I would much rather have Fez than Koufos. Athur is young, can mix it up inside, plays some defense. And if he reaches his potential could become a pretty nice player possibly better than Millsap. (probably 2 or 3 years) He is an undersized 4 but so is Lee, and to an extent Beasley. (I believe he his 6’8 but i could be wrong he could be 6’10 instead!) Arthur is like Antonio Mcdyess after the ACL injuries. But if he works hard(which I believe he is willing to) he could become like McDyess before the ACL injuries (a monster!) Both Arthur and Lee are Sloan type players. Beasley maybe, maybe not. The difference with Arthur is that he has not reached his potenial yet while Lee has. Who knows if Arthur will reach his potential? It takes more then hard work for a player to reach their full potential. This goes the same way with Beasley but to an even bigger extent, because we are not sure about his work ethic. So Jazz fans who do want, Boozer(resigned), Beasley(sign and trade), Lee (sign and trade) or Millsap + Arthur (from Koufos trade?) For me the answer is Lee in a sign and trade. But what do other Jazz fans think? I am willing to stick with a small lineup as long as we win games. I am a little weary of us winning games with just Millsap and Arthur(But at least it is better than Millsap and Koufos) We won’t be small for long. Tomic could come over in 2011, 2012 after AK is off the books and resigned for much much less then he is now. Tomic is like a bigger Pau Gasol. the only issue is his weight. I don’t know if he can put on more weight , he has had problems with that in the past and we could also get bigger through the 2011 draft with that lottery protected Memphis pick from the Ronnie Brewer trade.
Boozer, Beasley, Lee or Millsap+Arthur, Jazz fans?

SwatLakeCityParticipantOf the course the third possible destination for Booz to land is Utah, and we all know how that will turn out. Beasley could be better, but Lee is the safer pick.

JazzinSLCParticipantProbably a five or six year deal. If I’m the Jazz, the idea of signing an injury prone guy like Boozer to that long of a deal is frightning. I’m a huge fan of Paul Millsap. I think given starter minutes he can average in the neighborhood of 18 and 8. He also blocks some shots, and plays pretty physical defense. Haslem would be my choice of guys who I think would fit well with the Jazz, and be a very competent backup to Paul. He’s a savvy veteran whose been through a number of playoff wars, and is a pretty tough dude to boot. Sloan would love him. He leaves it all on the floor. I agree Koufos is a stiff. The sooner we can lose him the better. I’m not a Beasley fan. He is an underachiever, and a bit of a head case. I like Lee, but to me him and Millsap are too similar in what they bring when you consider the price tag Lee would come with. Our frontline would still be undersized.

CodySLCParticipantI’d like to see a sign and trade happen. I also think Millsap is more than ready to step in and be a starter. He’d be a double double every night, just like Booz. Now if we gave Booz a 6 year deal i would be pissed! I rather just let him go and get nothing in return that make a stupid move like that.

mamadouParticipantYou would be pissed by a 6 years contract, same thing for the suitors ?
Who would give booz a 6 year contract when he’ ll be 29 early in the season, since he never played 35 mins per game in his career but played an average 59 games per season as a Jazz ? how many in 3-4-5 years ?…
He’s not max, he’s not a 6 years guy, why a sign and trade for him ?, give him 65/5(+ maybe incentives like game played, all star selection, double doubles).
So 1 year later 61MD on books without brewer-korver-boozer and mayner…euh maynor.
Chad ford tweet “My predictions (subject to change): Bron & Johnson in Chi; Wade & Bosh in Mia; Amare & Gay in NJ; Dirk in Dallas; Boozer in NY; Lee in Utah ”
That would be fun for the knicks haha…0 - AuthorPosts
