MagikKnickParticipantThe Minnesota Timberwolves have been burning up the phone lines the last few days looking for a trade.
They’ve discussed deals to move up to No. 2 for Evan Turner, a 4 for 7 swap with the Pistons, and have looked at moving their other draft picks (16 and 23) to either get up in the draft or to add another veteran.
However, the most consistent thing I’m hearing is that the team appears to be determined to move Al Jefferson. According to sources they’ve offered him to Detroit for Tayshaun Prince this week and have also contacted the Pacers about their interest in Jefferson for Troy Murphy’s expiring contract.
However, the latest thing I’m hearing out of Minnesota may have the most legs. Sources have told me that the Wolves and Grizzlies have been discussing a swap that would send Jefferson to the Grizzlies for Zach Randolph. The deal would allow the Wolves to save a lot of money over time. Randolph has one year, $17.6 million left on his contract. Jefferson has three years, $42 million left.
According to sources, Randolph’s ongoing legal problems aren’t an imediment to Minnesota who is doing the trade in an effort to get out of Jefferson’s deal and free up more playing time for Kevin Love and potentially Derrick Favors if he falls to them with the No. 4 pick.
While sources stressed that the two sides were still just discussing the deal, one source sounded optimistic that it could actually happen.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantDamn you. You beat me.
Doing this would make me think what else is next for Minny at 4? I would have to think They make one last push for Turner.

burningfloodParticipantNo, Kahn, don’t do this…just take Cousins! Big Al and Cousins can work together…Al is best suited at the 4 and Cousins is best for the 5, Kevin Love can play backup for both…
Of course, I say this as a Warriors fan. Let Favors fall to 6!

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI think Minny will take Favors and will fight with Philly to get Turner.

NashyMingParticipantIf this deal is gonna happen, all the TWolves fans who think they can get more out of Al Jefferson in any trade would be disappointed.
Last time, when I suggested trading Al Jefferson and Ramon Sessions to Pacers for #11, Murphy, and Foster, I got bashed by the TWolves fans for undervaluing Al Jefferson.
The truth is, Al Jefferson’s contract and recovering knees along with Kevin Love have really made him less attractive to most other teams in the NBA.
Getting #10, Murphy and Foster would definitely be better than getting Zach. Zach would be a bad influence to the young players while he’s actually pretty similar to Al Jefferson and Kevin Love that would make him only valuable as an expiring contract.
Troy Murphy and Jeff Foster on the other hand would be good fit for the TWolves. Their skillsets are different from Kevin Love’s and they are both character guys with expiring contracts. The #10 can also get the Twolves another valuable young player such as Paul George or Xavier Henry.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantWolves sound like they are scrambling….They won’t be getting Turner Though…Unless they bend over and take a screw job from Philly…
