GreenLanternParticipantThey have been rumored to have very strong interest in Devin Ebanks and Avery Bradley. With all the teams with multiple first round picks, and with both players being projected by most scouts after the lotto, if you think Ebanks or to a lesser extent Bradley is going higher than 14, then a brand new drug more powerful than any before must have just hit the streets. There is a report today though that the Raps have new interest in Aldrich, after the latest buzz has him possibly dropping.

BasketballGuru24Participanti think raptors will try to deal out calderon during draft day to get another pick, if they happens we will probably see them pick Ebanks and Bradley. If not before their pick i see them getting aldrich. if they also do not get bradley with their pick i see them negotiating with the team that possibly gets him.

torontoraptors10ParticipantI can’t see the Raptors drafting Cole Aldrich. But I can see that Calderon will be dealt at deadline for another draft pick.
Calderon to Miami for #18? you think it can work? Bradley #13 and Ebanks at #18
Then trade Bosh and get a C in return.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantYou never stated what made it obvious that the Raptors were looking to trade down. You just mentioned rumors and buzz but nothng to make it seem obvious.

GreenLanternParticipantfleet69 I have heard that Ebanks has been having some very solid workouts, so i can’t say you’re crazy for believing that if he goes in the mid to late twenties especially.

morgatilParticipantI like Calderon for Miami’s 18th pick. That would be sick for Miami…. but an expensive contract.

bucksfan74Participantand is willing to trade the 10th pick…

GreenLanternParticipantI did hear a couple weeks ago that the Raps were trying to acquire multiple draft picks, so that means either they will keep the 13 and get another by trading a contract player or swap the 13 to one of the teams with multiple first rounders after 15.

JNixonParticipantEbanks, Aldrich and Avery Bradley are all defenders 1st and foremost, so it’s obvious the Raptors are looking to improve on D by adding some outstanding defenders.
Aldrich would be a good fit because it would allow Bargs to play PF, which is his best position for long term success and he would provide a defensive presence that they do not have down low.
Ebanks isn’t going to be a contributor as a rookie really, but he has the potential to be a long down defender down the line.
Bradley isn’t a playmaker but he would be able to play on and off the ball. He’s like George Hill, but it’s questionable as to whether the Raptors need a George Hill type of PG to run their offense. Bradley is also not better than Jarrett Jack at all right now, so he’s going to be a Year 2 breakout player too more than likely unless they baptize him by fire (which is unnecessary probably).

GreenLanternParticipantThat’s some good insight iggy9, but I wonder as much as I like Aldrich, how much does he fit their style?

JNixonParticipantI mean they had Rasho Nesterovic as a starter a while back, and I think he was reasonably effective. Cole Aldrich can defend, set screens, and rebound better than him. I think it can work.

jah12345ParticipantIf I’m colangelo i do not take aldrich. If aldrich doesnt pan out as a decent starting center, colangelo will be burnt at the stake. He is clearly on the hotseat in TO (which i don’t really agree with, but raps fans are irrational).
I would rather go down swinging by taking bradley and ebanks or maybe one of george/henry. At least if those players don’t pan out, they had the potential to be above average players in this league and Toronto is likely to be without a superstar soon. Aldrich is ONLY a good pick if bosh stays. If that is the case, then he is a nice fit and should be a nice player for this team.
