JazzinSLCParticipantIn the beginning, you think maybe Cousins. Then Favors takes the poll position. Now Johnson would seem to be there guy (with the idea of going after a power forward in free agency). And now I just read even Monroe is still be considered. What the hell is this team going to do…LOL!!
If I was in charge, I would draft Favors. They already have a really good center, so Cousins isn’t really a big catch for them. Johnson seems like a reach, and your going to have to pay much more for a free agent forward like Carlos Boozer then if you just drafted Favors.
Your thoughts on what you would do if you were calling the shots in New Jersey.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think they’re uncertain about Favors’ ability to help them win now. Both Johnson and Monroe are considered ready to play right away.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantMonroe is the best option of they are wanting to win a championship in the next 5 years…

bigblackNbeautifulParticipantJust traded cdr so…. maybe that means they want johnson

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantGM Monroe needs to be a Net…they need to stop playing make it happen…If the Kings at 5 or the Warriors at 6 what Wesley or Cousins that bad they’ll trade up and they’d get GM anyway…he’s the best fit…Favors will take to long…at best He’s JJ Hickson for the 1st three years of his career,…If the Draft goes like this
1.Wall.
2.Turner
3.Nets trade the Kings 3rd pick 5th and Donte Green…kings select Cousins
4.Wes
5.Monroe form the Kings to the Nets…
6.Favors
7.???then the Nets get their guy at a cheaper price and pick up Greene…

NYK2010Participantno confusion as the pick might be traded to Hornets along w/Harris for Chris Paul.
That would be a great trade for Hornets.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 6:59am #338491

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI like that deal.
3rd pick to Sacramento for the 5th and Greene? I hope someone in the front office does that

ronniemiller1kParticipanti like monroe too, always seemed the best fit, i see him as a bosh type player and im not crazy bout giving max money to injury prone boozer or stoudemire…go with monroe, push hard at gay who is playing at IMO the level of wesley johnson’s ceiling right now and hes only a year older than him…monroe and lopez would be nasty

JazzinSLCParticipantIs going to be a stud in a few years? He’s got all the tools, and seems to have the work ethic as well. He is a bit raw, but definitely shouldn’t be considered a project. Monroe would be a safe pick, but since the Nets are a rebuilding team, why not go with the younger kid with the incredible upside?

JazzinSLCParticipantWhere did you hear that rumor at? That’s very intriguing…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:13am #338504
piratejpParticipantWhy would the Kings do that though, when Cousins is likely to be there for them anyway? Especially since they also like Monroe, and would happily “settle” for him if Cousins and Favors are gone? It’s just like last year when people thought they should move up to take a guy they passed on with their own pick (Rubio).
Things are shaping up perfectly for the Kings, with the guy they could really use likely to be there for them at their pick. Plus, with the possible exception of Cisco Garcia, there isn’t anybody on the roster they want to part with; and even he wouldn’t be shipped out just to move up for no discernable reason.
The Kings likely aren’t moving anywhere, but especially not up. Keep dreaming Nets fans.

burningfloodParticipantIf it played out like Scarecrow’s scenario, I’d weep tears of pure joy. Favors to the Warriors without them having to part with anything? It’s like a gift from the basketball gods.

BasketBalAllanParticipantWhy would the Kings trade Donte to move up in the draft 2 spots when two of the three guys that are the top bigs are almost guaranteed to still be there at five? Even if the Nets took Monroe and the Wolves took Cousins I do not think the Kings would be willing to trade Donte and Favors for Cousins or Monroe. I think the Kings would love to acquire the third pick but would not be willing to give up the fifth, and without that pick to deal I do not think the nets would go for it.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThey’d need that banger at the four and five…I think they should out bid New York for Lee and draft Monroe…Both would compliment Brooke without making him regress to being a defensive center… both are realistic gets in the summer to Couple with a Star Wing Man or Guard( Wade or LBJ for sure) that team wins a Ring in 3 years…they might come out the East and challenge the Lake Show…But the nets have to get one or the other…I’d go for Wade…but I’m high on Harris,Williams and Monroe as play makers and LBJ would take that part of there game away with his isolation game…He’s a better fir on the Bulls or starting a team from scratch like He’ll do in NY,Mia post Wade and a few others like Wash, LAC and Sac Town Kings…
Harris-Dooling(not entertaining the Paul trade rumor Factor)
Wade-Lee
Williams-MLE guy like Mike Miller
Monroe-Lee
B.Lopez-Yi0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:24am #338516

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantMonroe is not a good pick for New Jersey IMO. He’s more of a Center in the NBA.
I think Favors is a better pick. He’s has the bulk and toughness they need to play next to Lopez.

morgatilParticipantThey shipped CDR, so they must love T Will or they should trade the #3 for Prince and the 7th. Monroe could still be around at #7.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:28am #338522

burningfloodParticipantWell, the draft could still play out this way…
1-John Wall
2-Evan Turner
3-Wesley Johnson
4-Demarcus Cousins
5-Greg Monroe
6-Derrick FavorsI don’t think that this scenario happens mostly because teams know that Favors is a top 5 talent, but a fan can dream, right? And if you’re a Warriors fan, there are two things that are constant-1) dreaming, and 2) the draft.

burningfloodParticipantI don’t think NJ would want to move the 3rd for Prince and the 7th. The whole point is that they wanted to clear salary for this summer’s free agency…Prince’s contract is expiring, yes, but it’s still guaranteed for this entire year. They turned down a trade for Beasley to preserve that cap space…so NJ would also not want to acquire Prince…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:34am #338525
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThis scenario is the so the Nets get Monroe with the 5th pick and get Greene…They’d probably give the Kings Lee too…Now the Kings draft Cousins or Favors and nor risk Kaun taking them and holding them Hostage…that man is a terrorist…lol,…and you don’t negotiate with terrorist…lol…The Kings get their pick of the Cousins or Favors debate…and gets a great shooter to boot…the Drfat goes like this
1.Wall…No brainer pick…
2.Turner…Makes way for Iggy or Jrue deal…he’s a point forward in a Sg’s body…but a very good one…
3.Kings pick from Nets Cousins,,,Reke wnats him…give the star what he wants and C.Lee
4.Wes Johnson…they love him and hate Favors…
5.Nets pick from Kings-Monroe…get the guy they need at the four and five and Greene ..sign D.Lee
6.Favors to the Warriors…Curry and Favors…bank on it…the gods will be kind my friends…0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:35am #338526

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIncreasingly loud hints that the New Jersey Nets intend to select Syracuse small forward Wesley Johnson with the third overall pick were initially dismissed as a potential smokescreen New Jersey orchestrated to convince Minnesota — which likes Johnson at No. 4 — to surrender an asset to the Nets for the right to trade up to No. 3.
Not so any longer.
A new theory circulating pegs Johnson as one of the first dominos in the free-agent frenzy that will officially commence July 1.
Multiple teams have passed along their belief to ESPN.com that the Nets have serious interest in Johnson at No. 3 largely because they believe it will help them land Utah’s Carlos Boozer in free agency.
New Jersey’s main position of emphasis once the free-agent market opens July 1 is power forward, with the Nets possessing an estimated $27 million in salary-cap space and with Brook Lopez and Devin Harris entrenched at center and point guard.
The connection between Johnson and Boozer? They’re both represented by the same agent: Rob Pelinka.
The selection of Johnson would be a strong tip-off, sources say, that New Jersey will be chasing Boozer hardest when free agency commences, ahead of potential targets such as Phoenix’s Amare Stoudemire.
ESPN.com’s Chad Ford indeed has New Jersey selecting Johnson with the third overall pick in his latest mock draft.
One source close to the situation, however, insisted Wednesday that Boozer has strong interest in the Nets independent of where Johnson lands in the draft.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantthey need to Move the 3rd pick and Courtney Lee to Sac Town for the 5th and D.Greene…
The Kings can’t risk not getting the Guy the Want not the guy who the hope to be there…If they make this move they get Cousins with no regrets…Greene is a backup hybrid forward…I’m in the belief they can get Gay or another SF with the cap space they have…
The Nets don’t need Favors…He’s a project and they want to win Now…if they want to lure stars that want to win they have to give them that impression at the draft…Monroe is a solid 15 and 10 guy that can run the offense up top like Lamar or Pau for Lakers…They can then get a solid star Like Lee or Boozer to help Brooke and Greg in the rotation without breaking the bank on a star Forward Like Amare or Bosh…
They then put them selves in place to get Wade or Lebron with a solid line up of Harris-T-Will-Lee or Boozer??-GM- Lopez-Yi-Greene-DoolingI’d prefer they get Wade and Let LBJ run somewhere else like the Bulls,Clipps,Knicks,Kings,Wiz or Heat post Wade

ronniemiller1kParticipantwhy doesnt anyone respect rudy gay…this site had him compared to pippen! stoudemire / boozer are too injury prone….take monroe at #3 or throw lee, harris, #3 at hornets for paul then sign ureself stoudemire or boozer….fat francesa says NJ is only place stoudemire wants to be
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:53am #338551
The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantthey shouldn’t be spending that 27 million on anyone but Wade or James…and a guy like Lee looking to be that role player like Rodman that rebounds and defends( I know Lee is no Worm by any sense on the Defensive and rebounding tip) but he would be in that Role…cleaning up the glass for Wade and Co…
Wes will not win them a ring…It’s going to be a star from the FA market and the guy the draft being a perfect compliment…Monroe and Wade or Wesley and Boozer….that’s a no brainer…go big or go home…That’s what wins rings…depth at the 4 and 5 and a star scorer to carry you half the way there…Harris and Lopez with an emerging T.Will and Monroe would make for a dangerous supporting cast…one Wade would could win with day 1…no questions about it…They need Wade and Monroe with a guy like David Lee sprinkled in the Mixed…I’m no Nets fan…I’m from Philadelphia…we hate New Jersey…But my family is from Brooklyn Ny and I’d love to see that Team take the NY crown…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 9:08am #338596

BasketBalAllanParticipantI love how people think the Kings are just going to throw away Greene because there is a chance that the Wolves might pick Cousins, and the Kings might prefer Cousins to Monroe. The last I heard, the Kings were equally impressed with both Monroe and Cousins. Why would the Kings give away someone who impressed them last year with his ability to grow as a player from just a shooter into a solid SF on both ends of the floor? I think the Kings stay at the five and live with the consequences. Besides, they are already thin on the perimeter, why give away more players than you have to just to make NJ fans happy?
