d-ravParticipantNo, this is not blast to the Warriors organisation, but rather a warning. For better example, they should take a look at Curry from the Knicks. While he is a good player, his shape and fitness cannot withstand the vicious uptempo game D’antoni plays, denying him any game time. Though that’s not the complete reason as to why he is not playing at all, it’s a huge factor. Another example is Shaq (in his late stages) with the Suns/ Cavs. When on the court, he devoids both Nash and Bron off their preffered uptempo game, forcing the teams respectively to operate a half court set, inecvitably limiting their effectiveness. When taken off, to no surprise, the respective teams return to their “free wheeling” game.
Now there’s no denying DC has a dearth of talent, it’s just a bit worrying as to how his fitness will withstand the rigours of an 82 game schedule, 48 mnutes each. After all, the man could only manage 23 minutes per game at a slower paced college game (despite avergaing a ridiculous double doule).
The upside though, is his still real young, so the Warriors has plenty of time to work to get his fitness right (if he has the discipline).0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 4:46am #335331
richgatesParticipantI don’t think dearth means what you think it does. 🙂

kanebangerParticipantwhy do you use the word dearth when you cant spell organization

wesleymatthews23ParticipantGood point d-rav. I agree with you. Aminu is a possibility for the 6 pick, but the chance to draft a Big Man like Cousins does not come around too often. The Warriors can not pass this chance up. Also I think that in order for Cousins to fall to the Pistons, Detroit would have to be seriously drugging the Warriors. A trade could also happen between the Pistons and the Warriors. I’m surprised no trades have happened dealing with draft picks yet. A trade between the Warriors and the Pistons involving the 6th pick could be in the mix.

yaboymalParticipantI think the warriors should not pass up cousins, they need a tough banger down low and they should not worry about him in an uptemp offense because even though he is a big body he has a great skill level quick feet and has decent athleticism

sacphil_08ParticipantIt’s funny because consins won’t be available at 6… If he’s available the kings are going to take him. And cousins in golden state would be horrible. Don nelson has something against true bigs. Also if you watched highlights of this past season from kentucky, you’ll see a whole lot of plays in transition where demarcus cousins was the one finishing with a dunk or cleaining up someone else’s miss. But golden state has no stability as an organization, and to draft a guy like that, you need either a star player with some personality (curry doesn’t have personality) or you need a strong front office and coaching staff that will be able to keep a guy like cousins in check if he were to get out of line. Detroit wants cousins really bad, but i think they’re prepping to draft aminu because there is no way cousins will be available at 7.

sacphil_08ParticipantDray must be a personal acquaintance of demarcus cousins. a warning? sounds like something a girl who dated a guy in the past would tell her friend if she were considering dating that same guy. And to say that there are 48 minutes in a game and 82 games is pointing out the obvious. What it doesnt point out though is that cousins wouldnt play 48 minutes a game. He’d probably start off at say 28-30 and maybe look to get more time as things progress. It just makes me laugh how people feel like they know something about someone personally. All you’ve done is heard things. I’ve heard that the kings are really interested in al farouq aminu yet here in sacramento there has been no such indication at all. So please don’t just go out on a limb and say things because it doesn’t make you look good. It really shows your dearth of knowledge for basketball

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantYou cannot simply ascribe the examples that you want to prove a point that you want. Yes, Eddy Curry did not work out with New York in its up tempo style and Shaq slowed down Phoenix. You want to know an example of a team that played up temp with a big man who was out of shape… DeMarcus Cousins at Kentucky. Utah played at a quick pace with Mehmet Okur and Fesenko. The Warriors team you think should be wary of Cousins pays mid-level money to Ronny Turiaf, and everyone there bemoans his monthly injuries like the guy is Bill Russell to their defense. DeMarcus Cousins can stand to lose weight, but at his age can handle it because he still runs rather well. It is not going to be a problem for him to play an up tempo style, and when they do get in a half court set, he is a better option to set the high screen or post low than anyone else they have.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantAre you the girl who dated the guy in the past or her friend that’s considering dating the guy?

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantCousins listed playing weight last season was 270 lbs.. He showed up at the Chicago camp at 292 lbs. The fact that Cousins could only last an average of only 23.5 minutes per game 270 lbs, wouldn’t the 292 lbs. cause you concern (let alone the anger issues) if you were considering building your team around him and paying him 20-30 million?

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantListed weights mean nothing. It is the best guess of the athletic department’s SID or maybe an assistant coach. It isn’t like they have an official weigh in before midnight madness. Cousins was probably carrying between 290-310 lbs. the entire season, and while it did come into play with conditioning and fouls did not keep him from being a huge force.

sacphil_08ParticipantSo i take it you are the girl and dray is the guy that you are considering dating… Who are you and why are you stepping up in somone else’s debate? And its obvious you’re one of those cousins critics (as well as a dray fan). It’s obvious you don’t know much about basketball works either. Who do you know that makes between 20-30 million that hasnt been a proven superstar for 5-6 years? His rookie contract won’t get him more than 2-3 million a year and even if he was a 15 and 10 guy for his rookie contract years he still wouldnt be a max player. Say things that make sense and maybe i’ll take the pitiful shots you take more seriously. And also if you’re going to deduct points how about you post a thread stating why you disagree

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantHe makes no sense and just steals points anyway….
