joecheck88ParticipantI don’t know how people will take this trade but I thought of it and really wanted to post it. It might not be realistic but could help all 3 teams.
San Antonio Receives – Andre Iguodala, futur 2nd rd picks from philly and minny
Minny receives- Richard Jefferson, Elton Brand, #2 pick from Philly, #20 pick from SA
Philly receives- Ricky Rubio rights, Al Jefferson, #16 pick from Minny and 2010 2nd Rd pick from minnSan Antonio gets younger and someone that can help at the SF position and future picks where they are good at evaluating talent.
Minny gets their man in Evan Turner, can still draft Cousins or whoever at #4, and have the 20th and 23rd picks. They get Brand, who can help and his contract is horrible but what big time free agents want to go to Minny, so this helps them build through the draft. And Jefferson is off the books after 2011.
Philly gets a young low post scorer in Jefferson, get rid of Brand and Iguodala’s contract, and get a legit star potential point guard(Holiday I think is a solid starter or good backup ala Jarrett Jack). And still get a decent draft pick(Henry, Anderson, Whiteside, etc. could still be there.)
What do you guys think?

NorthernLights666ParticipantThe Wolves would have no interest in Richard Jefferson or Elton Brand, from what I’ve heard locally, the Wolves will not be taking on Brand in any scenario for the 2nd pick, they’d rather just take Cousins at 4 and keep him. I can’t believe you included Rubio in that deal, are you serious? The only deal Kahn would do for Rubio is for Wall.

blink3ebfanParticipantI would love it if I were the Sixers but Minnesota gets really screwed in the trade. They have to take on two large contracts and they are giving away a potential star and a proven low post scorer/rebounder. I also disagree with your assessment of Holiday, he’s a great young player and could develop into a stud in this league. He is the sixers best young player. With that said, if they could acquire Jefferson and Rubio AND get rid of their two big contracts I think they would have to do it. I think it works for San Antonio and Philly but not for Minny at all.

fastdanParticipantCompletely unrealistic for Minny….

TyroberParticipantNothing is guaranteed with Rubio. If he was going to play this year things would be different but Philly is taking a huge stepback THIS year when they could just keep draft an Allstar with Turner. Too many big names are switching

joecheck88ParticipantI think Minny does the best in this trade. They get bad contracts but only Brand’s is horrible, and its not like they need the cap space because NOBODY is signing there. And Rubio doesn’t want to play there and isnt doing any good for them overseas. So ya they have to take Brand and Jefferson, but Jefferson’s deal will expire plus they get to build through the draft(the only way they can compete because, once again, NOBODY wants to sign there). So they get Turner and Cousins to go with Love and Flynn and thats bad for Minny? Explain.
And who the fuck is Arman? Contribute to the site douchebag and then come talk to me bitch.

joecheck88ParticipantPoint being capsapce doesnt win games, good players do. And Turner and Cousins are good.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/03/2010 - 12:56pm #326252

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantSo what you are saying is Minnesota gives up its 2 best assetts (Rubio And Al J.) + plus virtually all of their cap space for the #2 pick and bloated contracts? How could the Wolves not not jump on that? If capspace has no value why did Utah give away their 1st rd pick Eric Maynor to OKC last year just for capspace? Or why would Denver send Marcus Camby to CLippers for nothing if capspace has no value?

RUDEBOY_ParticipantWOW!!! Both Brand & Jefferson? I dont think Minnesota want to add those huge contracts..From what i’m hearing the Spurs will decline Jefferson’s contract when he picks up his option…If Chicago cant get Bosh or Boozer this summer..They should look into sending Deng for Love…I just hope Minnesota dont waste that number 4 pick on Wesley Johnson…He might average 12 to 14 points his rookie year..But after that teams will adjust to his style of play….He’s going to really need to become a great 3 point shooter or a great defender to have a long career in the league…

joecheck88Participantthose team were over the cap and mad those moves to save money not to sign other players. their capspace is worthless because nobody wants to go there, this trade helps them build through the draft which is the only way they can become competitive. big al has had injury problems and had one productive year and who knows what rubio will do. and like i said brand is the only bad contract they get because jefferson will be off next off season. minny is nowhere close to competitive so they can take brands contract if that means getting potential stars in cousins and turner.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantCapspace works fro trades as well. Players will go where the money is…. if they are traded they will go to that team because they are contractually binded to. Al hurt his knee…. many players have come back from knee surgery. They are typically 2 year injuries…. meaning he should be back now to about where he was before he was hurt. That trade as you proposed it would get the entire front office fired over night.

wesleymatthews23ParticipantThe wolves do not want to take on Brand’s contract. The trade will be a 3 team trade but that third team will be a team with a ton of cap space and one that is willing to take on Brand’s contract. How about this trade:
Philly receives Jeff Green and Al Jefferson
Minny receives 2nd pick, Thaddeus Young
OKC receives BrandLineups
Minny=Flynn, Turner, Brewer, Love, Cousins
Philly= Holiday, Iggy, Green, Speights, Jefferson
OKC= Westbrook, Sefalosha, Durant, Brand, 21st pick or 26th pick0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/03/2010 - 1:41pm #326268
McWinningParticipantI like Brand and think he still has something left in the talk, could be a double double guy but hes not worth Green, and hes not worth the next three years of his contract, i think he has one good year left.

mds0549Participantwesleymatthews23 is closer than the crazy idea of MN taking on all the salaries and getting very little in return except for two older players that can’t contribute. Young would give them their 3 and Turner the key to the triangle.

joecheck88Participantim just defending what i think would work. and in my opinion okc should try and outright sign a pf before trading for one who isnt as good as boozer, bosh, amare, or lee. and i dont think minny has the players to land a star player via a trade. and players have come back from knee injuries, and some havent. al jefferson is a good player but cousins can be just as good or better and turner would make up for giving away rubio. plus they would have the 20th and 23 picks too. and for a young promising team they would have to sacrifice some cap room on brand which i dont think they could use on a better player. my trade is based on the thoery that minny cant build a team through free agency like ny or chicago, they will have to draft well. and what better than 2 top 5 picks and to more in the first round?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/03/2010 - 1:47pm #326275

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantWhy would OKC want Brand? No player has ever come back well from a ruptured achilles. I can think of about 51 million reasons Minny and Philly would like it, but zero reason for the Thunder. It goes completely against the philosophy used to build OKC. Brand is damaged goods…. there is no getting around that.

joecheck88Participantif you are a bigtime free agent and you can choose between ny city, chicago, miami, or minnesota, everyone of u would have minny as last on your list. look at the last time they were successful, they DRAFTED KG. name me the last big name free agent to sign in minny, and cassell and sprewell dont count because they were old and feeding off of kg. kg made minny attractive just like durant makes okc attractive.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantCapspace is not just valuable for “big time” freeagents…. as you call them. Right now Miami is looking to trade Beasley just for capspace. Teams that are over the luxury cap give away players to teams with space so they can share in the luxury tax pool instead of paying into it. There will be many solid players hoping to be paid by the Wolves this summer.

joecheck88Participanti agree capspace is valuable but im saying its not as valuable for minny. the wolves needs a couples stars and while not proven turner and cousins is promising. the solid players that want to go to minny arent going to make them much better. brands contract is bad but he can contribute something and could teach cousins. rj would come off the books next year and give them some cap space. the only decent player i think could end up in minny this year is rudy gay and he would be nice but ill take turner and cousins if i was minny. nys capspace is more valuable because of its tradition and market, minny just doesnt need capspace. and miami is clearing space because miami knows free agents will come to south beach.

Bnix13ParticipantSo to the OP
Iggy, Brand, #2 for Rubio, Al Jefferson, and #16
So Iggy for a PG which is their most promising position (call it a wash)
Brand (someone who had surgery 2 years ago) for a player 5 years younger just coming off of knee surgery that is due just 3 million less than Brand (advantage 76ers)
#2 for #16 (huge disadvantage 76ers)Al Jefferson and any other player coming off knee surgery is a player with decreased value. Is dumping Brand worth giving up the #2 pick?
Worse case scenario Brand gives them 15-7 for the next two years and could be a salary dump for a team looking to shed pay role in 2 years.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/03/2010 - 3:09pm #326322
joecheck88Participanti actually think philly is getting the worst of the trade. they get rid of brand but get jefferson who may or may not produce like he did a few years ago so he is a question mark, rubio is a question mark, they lose the number 2 pick, and get the 16th. but people think its bad for minny. i think 2 under 22 year old players that have star potential is worth giving up a question mark bigman, a question mark 20 year old point guard and getting a bad contract but atleast a decent player.
