Say Memphis knew they were losing Rudy Gay and Milwaukee wanted him, I could see this deal

Memphis gets: 11th pick, Dan Gazuric

Milwaukee gets: Rudy Gay, 25th and 28th picks

Why Memphis would do it? Memphis gets a lottery pick in exchange for giving up a lottery pick. You still have Ronnie Brewer who could start at the 3 next season or you can draft a 3 like Damion James or Devin Ebanks. You also keep your lottery pick so you can get two top 15 talents and still save the cash. Gazuric is clearly cap space.

Why Milwaukee would do it? Rudy Gay would provide a defensive mismatch and a legit 18-20 point scorer. No 11th pick in the draft can guarantee that. By getting the 25th and 28th picks, you can still add players to the roster for cheap.

Milwaukee Starters- Jennings, Salmons, Gay, Illusova, Bogut

Memphis’ Starters- Conley- Mayo- 13th pick (Ebanks)- Randolph- Gasol

    Thoughts?

If that is the Bucks 1st rounder (11) that isn’t gonna be lottery. They are in position to make the playoffs.

Gay’s a restricted free agent so they won’t trade him unless someone signs him to a deal. They would have to know they would lose him before doing this. Also they could probably get more talent in another trade.

Even if this trade were to go down Memphis wouldn’t give up the two picks. They’re already giving up the most value in the deal why give up two more picks?

A good idea in general but i don’t think memphis would want to give up 25 and 28, maybe one but probably neither.

I could see Memphis doing this deal and giving one pick and taking on Redd contract. Gay’s new contract will be expensive. no way milwaukee would want to carry Gay and Redd’s huge contract if they giving up a lottery pick
