gatorheelsParticipantI called it, San Diego St. wins the Mountain West tournament.
I’ve been telling everybody about Kawhi Leonard for a while now. We aren’t just talking about a future late 1st round pick here. I’m talking about a future LOTTERY PICK folks. 6’7" SF putting up very impressive numbers as a Freshman. Very good athlete, very long arms, long wingspan. He has the skills too, soft touch for such an unbelievable rebounder.
Kawhi Leonard tonight’s stats- 16 Points, 21 Rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals !!!!
Final Score: San Diego St. 55 UNLV 45 Low scoring game.
I watched this entire game.
Look out for the Aztecs & Kawhi in the NCAA tourney.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI like his game. He attacks the boards well but like Paul George, you have to question his level of competition.

gatorheelsParticipant^ No you don’t
The Mountain West is much better than the WAC
Also San Diego St. is way better than Fresno St

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantCome on Gator…The Mountain West isin’t the ACC or Big East now.
I would like to see them play better teams. They played not alot of good teams this year and ( Just to Nitpick) 5pts, 8rebs against New Mexico? 3pts, 5 rebs against BYU?
He could be a 1st round pick but I wanna see him against better players and some consistency.

gatorheelsParticipantI didn’t say it was like the ACC or Big East. Don’t flip the script. You compared him to Paul George… I responded.
According to the RPI the Mountain West is the 7th best Conference. Pac 10 is 8th. WAC is 10th.
Mountain West does have 4 NCAA tournament teams. UNLV, BYU, New Mexico, & SD St. The competition hasn’t been cupcake.
I’m sure most of you have never seen Kawhi play so its all good.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 5:48pm #265743

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI never said they were cupcakes I just said let’s not assume there really good.
I just want to see him against more teams like ( going off of players these teams get next year as well), UCLA, Arizona, Washington maybe Gonzaga. I would like to see them play some ACC and Big East teams as well that way, I can see him play against some better, NBA type talents.
Also, I don’t think you can really use the whole “Bids” thing. The C-USA might get 3 or 4 bids (People kill Hassan Whiteside) , A-10 might get 4.

gatorheelsParticipantC- USA is only going to get 2 teams in the dance (UTEP & Houston). CUSA is ranked 11th in the conference rankings.
You will get a chance to see Kawhi play against major conference teams in the NCAA tourney. Leonard is going to go to work regardless of the opponent.

knicksfan7ParticipantQHaynes, don’t even dare to compare the MWC and WAC conferences to each other. Gatorheels has you here. I didn’t watch the game, but a 6’7″ guy getting 21 boards is impressive in the MWC. The MWC is the either the 7th or 8th best conference in the country I would take the A-10 over them, but it could go either way. As for this Leonard kid, I have to start watching him. I think Darington Hobson’s season overshadowed what Leonard has done.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI never said the WAC and MWC are the same…please show me where I said that before giving negatives please
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/13/2010 - 5:03pm #265752
knicksfan7ParticipantQHaynes, you implied it in your post about comparing him to Paul George. Also, you mentioned some bad games he had, you have to take into account he is only a freshman. For him to average close to a double-double as a freshman in the MWC is impressive.

QUINCEYnot sure the conference rankings but san d state sos is 79

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI never “implied” it. Please Don’t Assume Things!
I simply took two freshman who over the past 2 seasons had good seasons and people (Gator’s not the only person I heard talking lottery for this guy) called them ” next year’s lotto pick”
I saw him play a couple times and praised him on my first post but like Paul George, I want to see him against some better talent. That’s not a huge issue but with players not in the power conferences ( Big East, Big 12, Big 10, ACC, Pac-10 ( except this season)), I always want to see them against better talent.

Disrespect_MeParticipanthe destroyed the Wear twins in high school (ACC), he’s had a high level of competition coming from SoCal
the Kid can play0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 5:48am #265841

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantYou mean he killed Those two twins who averaged less then 11 min per game for a UNC team who had massive injuries in the frontcourt?
Yea, like I said before I wanna see him play better teams
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 5:56am #265844

Disrespect_MeParticipanthe’ll have his chances, my former coach said he can play, i really never seen him play lol

Adi JosephThe Mountain West is great this year. And we have Leonard at No. 19 in 2011, but he’s definitely trending upward lately. He’s still got to show that he’s a true small forward.
