Providence: They might be the worst defensive team I’ve ever seen this season. They also have ZERO coaching

Jamine Peterson hasn’t been all that. He’s a good player from what I’ve seen, easily the best on Providence, but he doesn’t seem like a hidden gem NBA prospect. He’s a mid-late 2nd round type to me. He’s a tweener who’s not that quick or athletic and he’s not all that good on the perimeter. This is just the 1st half though.

Marshaun Brooks isn’t a prospect, but he’s looked good slashing to the rim against Seton Hall’s defensively challenged frontline. He used to play at a school nearby me…he was a monster in high school.

Sharaud Curry used to be decent. Now….Moving on.

Seton Hall: They don’t defend very well either, but they have a bunch of scoring threats

Herb Pope has been solid offensively and on the boards. He also has made some shots from mid-range. He’s TERRIBLE on defense though and he’s not a very good athlete and he’s lacking in quickness to be a legit NBA guy right now.

Jeremy Hazell has played well, well scoring at least. He has the BIGGEST ears I’ve ever seen though, they always make me laugh.

Jordan Theodore is better than Eugene Harvey, and he’s shot the ball very well from 3. (he’s 3-3). He’s prone to overdribbling and making bad decisions though.

Harvey has gotten worse every single year he’s been in college. I thought he was a sleeper before the season.

Jeff Robinson, a Memphis transfer, is a freak athlete and a great defender, but he can’t score if it’s not at the rim. Could be an interesting prospect though next year if he improves his skills.

The game’s on ESPNU if you have that channel or espn360.com

I wouldn’t say that Providence has no coaching. Keno Davis is only in his 2nd year of coaching at PC, and he has an overall young team, I think he’ll turn PC into a better program in a couple more years.

Oh ok, he’s in his 2nd year. I was wondering why he was trying to run a run-n-gun system with the personnel he has. He still needs to patch up the holes in his defense, possibly switch to a zone.

Personally Iggy, I think almost all college teams should play zone. Not because college players are incapable of playing defense, but because when a team as someone really athletic like a John Wall you don’t have anyone who can cover him on man. That’s why I love Boeheim’s 2-3 zone more than anything to me it is the best defense to run in college.

I agree. They have had a time keeping Seton Hall out of the paint.

Peterson is killing! 32 pts and 14 boards and scored 14 straight points for Providence. He’s still 2nd round worthy though until he shows a better perimeter game and defends better. He’s a very similar prospect to Quincy Pondexter of Washington

Peterson is only a sophomore and he would be a fool to enter the draft this year. What he is doing this year, he can do next year, so what he has to do if focus on the weaker points of his game to make him NBA ready. If he does he will be a sure-fire 1st rounder as early as next year. Though, I think he’ll stay the full 4 years.

Yea, I think he’d be wise to wait as well. He’s got some holes in his game that would be better addressed in college than the pros.

If Seton Hall loses this or even if it goes into overtime, the Seton Hall players should be stripped of their scholarships and the coach should be fired.

They are looking like the Bad News Bears right now…
