Mid Majors and small school players who could make an impact PF Hybrids

HueBond, good list, but Udoh plays in the Big 12 not a mid-major by any means. Also, Caracter played at Louisville, so I have hard time considering him a mid-major player. Though, I like the list otherwise. Kenneth Faried is a monster on the boards.

This guy is a good scorer and plays the forward/gaurd position well. Not a power forward so maybe doesn’t fit into this actual topic but at 6’9 he has the size to rebound if needed. Watch him in the NCAA’s and you should be impressed. Only a soph also. (indiana boy)

Gordon Hayward, Elias Harris, and Wesley Witherspoon are also guys that are at mid-major schools and could be NBA players that play a hybrid type of PF.

I don’t want to be too negative, but i despise the Udoh to Arthur comparison. Arthur, in college, was a sub par rebounder and shot blocker for his size and athletic ability, inconsistancy plagued him going for 20 one game and 4 the next. Arthur had more moves offensively than Udoh, but played for a stacked team and averaged less than a point per game less than Udoh in 10 fewer mintues per game, don’t forget he was the #2 forward coming out of his high school class behind Durant, and he never lived up to his hype.

Udoh on the other hand, is a defensive guy who rebounds and blocks shots at a high level and has a good offensive skill set, but isnt a scoring punch in the post Arthur was by any means, but he scores at a pretty good rate partialy because of the dirty work he does a lot of the time grabbing offensive rebounds and partialy because of his skill set. I don’t know how anyone looks at Udoh who blocks 4+ shots per game, pulls down 10 rbs in the Big 12 and sees a more offensive Darrell Arthur, who plays in a mid-major or small school?

its hard to say with both..on one had arthur was on a better team so of course his stats would probably be done so its possible that if he were on baylors team instead his stats would be better and if the baylor guy was on kansas team his stats wouldnt be has high because of the better players around him

I am going to mention a mid-major guard to watch for. He’s a Junior at Hofstra his name is Charles Jenkins he’s 6’3″ 220 combo guard. I go to Hofstra, so I have seen him countless times. He is someone everyone should watch for he is probably going to be anywhere from a 2nd rounder to undrafted, but he can play.

I hear what you are saying quincey, but I watched probably between 20 and 25 KU games that year, and Arthur did not play to the level he had the ability to play at. I’m just trying to say Arthur was almost entirely a post scoring punch for KU, often underacheiving where he could have excelled at rebounding and blocking shots, while Udoh is a guy who excels at rebounding and blocking shots and scores less than a point per game more than Arthur did as a soph in over 10 minutes more per game. They are just too completely different players.

tru.. im just saying. persoanlly i rarely watched arthur in college and when i did i didnt think he was as good as others said he was

me either, he was was one of those guys who never progessed in college like he was expected to, I understand why he went pro because he had 20 and 10 in the Ntnl title game, but he was extremely inconsistant, he has become more of a rebounder in the NBA and still could be a decent player, but he is really gifted athletically and has a nice jumper, but he just hasn’t put it together.
