    Who’s the better prospect.

This is an interesting one. While at the NBA Combine James Barlowe recently said he was asked “why is Richardson mocked 20 positions higher than Tahaad Pettiford?”. He brings up a very good point. I’ve been seeing Pettiford mocked at #39 to Toronto in a bucn of mocks meanwhile in Jonathan Wassermans Big Board posted a month ago Jase Richardson was ranked #4. Thats a very large gap for very similar players.

Both these players are great but I like Tahaad Pettiford. He’s an explosive guard that attacks and puts pressure on defences. He also does not get enough credit for how competitive he is, He is kind of unguardable because of his first step, ballhandling and abillity to pull up from anywhere. I see him being a star in the NBA, I’m not sure how anybody’s going to guard him. He had the highest three point percentage amongst SEC freshman and with all do respect to Tre Johnson and Jeremiah Fears, Auburn got teams best effort every night. Teams went after Auburn all year long to try to knock off the #1 team and you could just tell Tahaad loved it. He also loves to silence crowds on the road and sort plays with a different kind of swagger in those tough enviroments and that is a very rare skill. Most players crumble.

I think both players are likely to fall in that 15th to 25th range however between the two I would be more comfortable picking Pettiford in the lottery. I’m very confident there wont be 14 players better than Tahaad in this draft.

I had a feeling you would do this one… I think you’re on to something with Pettiford. I actually have him at 20 and Richardson slipping at 29 or something right now if you click on my draft link… I really like both of them too and Richardson more often than not an efficient player that’s and underrated play maker. Pettiford though outplayed him in the tournament and measured about the same. Now Pettiford is doing it again by outplaying the combine… I don’t think either is a wrong answer per say, but I’d take Pettiford. I think he’s generally the biggest competitor on the floor.

Yeah my mock currently has Richardson slipping to around 26 however I think thats great value for a team picking in that range and I’d like to have him ranked higher.

Jase has got a bit more size and I have him ahead of Tahaad on my mock so i’d pick him first.

But Tahaad is an insane athlete and a team looking for a quick player who can spark offence would be all over him. I can see him being a huge fan favourite and a likely Slam Dunk contest entry.
