“Know this: The Kobe-LeBron argument is dead. It’s over. LeBron James is the best basketball player alive.” – Bill Simmons

Pretty interesting article… Check it out.

well, it’s defenitely an argument. Many writers and analyists pick kobe over lebron. But lebron is playing better this year and last year as well and should be the best when it is all said and done. But kobe still has more skills in my book and he can pick it up in the playoffs.

Kobe is the most skilled player and is more obsessed with winning, which still gives him the edge in my book… But LeBron is on another level. He has the total package.

yeah, there’s nothing about lebron that he doesn’t bring to the table. I can’t hate on the dude. But in a game 7, I’ll still roll with kobe. Lebron puts up video game stats though and has a combination of size, speed and skill that i don’t think this game has ever seen. The only two things I can possibly see holding lebron back in his carrer are titles and how he pplays in his 30’s when some of that athleticism diminishes. Fair or not, people aren’t gonna put him above jordan if he doesn’t have at least 2-3 titles.

I like what Bill Simmons said about him. He has that personality that commands a room similar to Jordan. I noticed the same thing when they played the Pacers in November (He had 40, 9 and 7)… It’s hard to take your eyes off of him. Everybody stood up and was glued to everything he did.

I’ve seen both LeBron and Kobe play… And LeBron has a uniqueness about him that really can’t be ignored. I think, unlike Kobe, if he wins a few titles… He could be considered better than Jordan in the minds of fans.

im not sure why he said the debate is over when it is still a debate. watching espn last night they did there poll and more people say kobe over lebron by like a 3percent margin so yes its still a debate

yeah quincey, just because simmons says it’s over doesn’t mean it’s over when like half the writers, analystis, fans whoever still debate it and go back and forth. But simmons has admitted in the past to being anti lakers/kobe and has said many negative things about both so this doesn’t really surprise me.

First of all, Bill Simmons should have prefaced his article with how much he hates the Lakers as well as Kobe.

With that being said, “commanding the room like no other” doesn’t win you jack in the NBA. @tezo83, if Kobe is obsessed with winning and has won multipule (4) titles, how is “Lebron on another level?” He hasn’t won sh*t and isn’t winning titles the reason every NBA great has laced them up?

When Kobe was Lebron’s age, sure he played with Shaq, but he played without the ball in his hands and had Shaq in his prime commanding the ball down low.

Anyway, for those who have forgotten or are just too young, Kobe had similar numbers as Lebron in his 7th season in the league and also had 3 titles by then.

oh thats bill simmons. yeah ive heard he is anti kobe. untill lebron gets the rings the he wont be considered better then kobe. anyone who watches basketball knows thats how it work in the nba when comparing stars. eventually he will be considered better because kobe will be old but all time he has a long way to go

I see the Lebron fans don’t like my assessment. It’s not because I don’t like Lebron, I do but he’s not better than Kobe.

By “on another level” I was talking about LeBron’s total package and everything he brings to the table as a basketball player, teammate and icon. His teammates and fans everywhere flock to him. He commands that type of attention.

I think Kobe’s the better/more fundamentally skilled basketball player, but I think LeBron has everything you need in a superstar/franchise player. He has some holes in his game and hasn’t won a ring YET, but he will. It’s only a matter of time. I think he has a chance to be considered the greatest ever when it’s all said and done.
