Seriously, what the heck was that by the refs? For those who didn’t watch, they had a jump ball between Mickael Pietrus and Amare Stoudemire with 2.5 seconds remaining in a 3 point game. Here’s what happened, Amare tips it, it bounces out of bounds with about .5 seconds remaing. It should have been Orlando ball on the sideline with .5 seconds. Instead, after watching the replay for about 2 minutes, they said both guys touched it and they would re-jump it between Mickael and Amare with 1.9 seconds remaining. What?

Okay, here are the options for the refs

    1) Amare touched it, Magic ball .5 seconds.

    2) We don’t know who touched it, re-jump with the whole 2.5 back on the clock.

3)Both guys touched it, ball out of bounds with .5 seconds, any two guys from either team can jump since it is a ball out of bounds on both teams. In this case, no way would orlando have Pietrus jump instead Dwight.

Any way you look at it, the refs know less then me on that play. Ridiculous.

and i have zero bias towards who won, it just sucks to see absolute negligence from the refs at such an important point in a game, especially since they took a few minutes to watch replays and get it correct.

Most defiantly a strange sequence of events.

but can either of you guys defend the ruling on that play? I mean, even if the refs said it went out of bounds with 1.9 seconds (it clearly didn’t) and if they said that both players touched it last at the exact same time (almost impossible), then why would they force Pietrus to jump the second time. If it went out on both teams, then it should have been a jump ball between any two players. It just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. And they spent 2 minutes figuring it out with all the replays in the world.

Well the one thing is there should have been, like they showed during it, that there should have only been 0.5 seconds on the clock

yeah, maybe as much as .7 seconds, but 1.9 was just a made up number. The refs have a tough job and when they have to make bang bang calls that can go either way, I don’t get upset. But this was just flat out horrible officiating with zero excuses. I guess they figured like 4 wrongs make a right or something.

I didn’t know what to think when that happened. Pretty sure suns would have won either way but it didn’t make sense at all. Both teams got cheated at once. Doesn’t make sense???

yeah, I’m not mad about the Magic losing. It just seemed like they got every possible scenario wrong on that call and even the announcers were confused. I would love to hear the refs explanation on that one.

The refs didn’t screw the Magic, the Magic screwed the Magic. Your best player and the best centre in the LEAGUE takes ONE SHOT???!!?? Are you freaking kidding me? Give the ball to him! Taking 38 three point shots in a game is ridiculous.

so much for Suns not playing defense, huh? He should’ve physically dominated and single-handily dismatled the Suns like he has in the past, but the Suns played great D on him all night. They had to foul a lot but he didn’t shoot well at the line so they did a good jobat making hime earn his points. It was a fun game to watch from both sides but it was really confusing at the end
