valentineDon’t believe me?
The Knicks actually have 8 expiring contracts…5 of them are PRETTY interesting. (Lee, Duhon, Robinson, Harrington, Hughes
I think if the Knicks want to make some impact I would add some players for some young players.
Btw, Toney Douglas needs more PT. 8.1ppg? Yea, he needs 25-30mpg every night.
What do you think the Knicks should do? Stay put or make some deals?

MagikKnickParticipantShouldnt force anything, im a supporter of the Tyrus Thomas deal, but our #1 goal should be to get rid of Jeffries and/or Curry
Mike D’Antoni is joking around by playing Duhon…he needs to start Douglas, develop his as of now, hes already stole Nates spot in the rotation, should steals Duhons

QHaynes20I don’t like the Thomas Deal because I feel we can get more.
Like Harrington for Thomas, Jerome James and a 2nd round pick? I’d probably do it at this point.
I agree. Douglas is a good scorer and we should develop him as our next PG. He’s 6-1.
Who you think the Knicks should target?

ricks17Participantknicks suck. they need to get rid of there coach while there getting rid of these players. i agree toney douglass should be getting more time. there not goin to do anything this season obviously, why not give him more minutes. jordan hill at number 8 overall? wow. i know its only young in the season, but that was a bad pick. brandon jennings still on the board

MagikKnickParticipantA 2nd round pick would be nice, but if they didnt wanna give us one, it wouldnt be a deal breaker
What do you mean by who should the Knicks target? Are you referring to a trade or the draft?
@Ricks17 …now tell us something we dont know

knicksfreakParticipantWe cant give up our expiring contracts for someone raw like Thomas. If we give up our power in free agency we better be getting legitimate stars and/or draft picks in return.
Douglas has really impressed me and he’s the closest thing to a closer that we have. he needs to get more minutes. He doesnt have to start but 25-30 minutes per game sounds about right.
Our rotation is all messed up because we are trying to showcase Jeffries and Curry when healthy. I’d like to see what Jordan Hill has got since we wasted #8 on him.
Chandler isnt developing as rapidly as he has and he will not be the caliber player we had all hoped.
The jury is still out on Gallo. He shows flashes of brilliance but sometimes overdribbles and loses the ball. He needs to get more shots.
Hughes has played strong and it would be nice to retain him with our MLE next year

QHaynes20Target in Trades

knicksfreakParticipantAnybody worth targeting in trades are considered untouchable by their own teams. We need to play our young players to prove to any free agents that we have young talent that can ball.
Anybody know what happened with Aldridge’s contract negotiations? He is a prime target of mine if he is available.
I’d actually like to play Hill to gather some interest and trade him for a first rounder next year.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantHe got like a 65 million extension

MagikKnickParticipantI’d like to see us get a PG, the Knicks have the worst starting PG in the league…definite need for improvement
Some PGs that are “touchable” and could be an improvement over Duhon
Sergio Rodriguez
Jerryd Bayless
Kirk Hinrich
Jordan Farmar
Rafer Alstonall guys that could be acquired in a simple trade, nothing to extra, but could provide a servicable improvement to this team
and then we could look at some bigs
Ronnie Turiaf
Robin Lopez
Nenad Krstic
Etan ThomasIm just randomly throwing names out, but the point is…we dont have to make a big ‘splash’, making small trades could open up room for bigger trades

THe big problem with new york is that they won’t be able to get trades little lone free agents this summer if they don’t role players. They don’t even have to be starting caliber just some one who gets the job done. In the knicks situation you have to pick people that come off the books or have low salaries yet if they come off the books soon would take low cash.
I wouldn’t trade Hill unless you feel Lee is your starting Pf.
Do you think Hughes is worth the Mid Level excepetion?
And personally on the Thomas situation i would hold out on it but if you don’t get any other offer a would go for it cause thomas has alot of potential that would flourish in the Run and Gun

dmo21Participanti dont see the knicks trading much at all. they wont trade any of their expiring contracts because then how are they gonna get lebron?
they will only trade the expiring contracts for better players with expiring contracts..i only see them trading chandler and or jeffries because they are both in 2 year deals..
i like the tyrus thomas deal because if they are running, tyrus is perfect cause he is tall and athletic, kinda the amare in the suns game0 - Posted on: Fri, 12/04/2009 - 4:56pm #235658

dmo21Participanti was just screwing around after reading this topic on the trade machine.. so dont take this to seriously but its kinda cool.
so here is what i brewed up..:
New York trades- Chandler, Curry, Duhon, Jeffries
receives- Kwame, McGrady
Detroit trades- Kwame and Rip
receives- Chandler, Curry, Duhon
Houston trades- McGrady
receives- Rip and Jeffriesnew york gets expiring contracts while trading away two 2 year deals and some not so good players.
detroit frees up the sg spot for ben gordon and kwame isnt that good, especially with big ben there, and they get a veteran point guard and a very big, big man for their thin front line.
houston gets rid of t-mac, making sure he doesnt disturb chemistry and receive a good team playing sg in return.
New York lineup:
PG-Toney Douglas
SG- T-Mac
SF- Gallinari
PF- Harrington
C- Lee
Detroit:
PG- Duhon/Bynum/Stuckey
SG- Gordon
SF- Prince
PF- Charlie V
C- Big Ben
Houston:
PG-Lowry/Brooks
SG- Hamilton
SF- Ariza
PF-Scola

knicks82ParticipantDuhon played like a superstar tonight vs. Atlanta, 25pts 10ast. And for all those Brandon Jennings lovers out there, look at Jennings stats over the last 7 games. 32-105 from the field. tonight vs. Detroit hes 4-14. Teams have figured him out. THough I do think the Knicks should have taken a pg. Id rather gotten Ty Lawson. As for tradinig Harrington for Thomas..its kind of a wash as a deal, the Knicks would be trading there leading scorer for a very good defender/rebounder which the Knicks need, but there has always been the notion that Thomas is a bit of a headcase. Either way itll be interesting to see what the Knicks do.

MkadozaParticipantLol dmo, I was thinking about a very similar trade with the Rockets. Duhon, Curry, Chandler, Jeffries, for Mcgrady and Brian Cook. Maintain cap flexibility, and make a move for a player thats apparently worn out his welcome.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 12/04/2009 - 5:25pm #235666

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea… It looks like Jennings has hit the rookie wall already. Teams had no scouting reports on him at the start of the season… Now they do and are figuring out ways to stop him. Jennings had an amazing couple of weeks, BUT I think Tyreke Evans has played better overall the entire season.
I agree with you about what you said about trading Harington for Thomas. It’ll be interesting to see what they do.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 12/04/2009 - 8:33pm #235714

dmo21Participantthat would probably be more likely cause its just a two team trade and houston needs a big man too
